What is the song about? The song is about controversial topics in current society and historical events. For e.g. Ariel, at the time of the making of the video, a few years ago, it would've been when the BP oil spill was all over the news. That was an issue in society how our needs for energy has led us to pollute the environment, this issue still plagues us today. Another example would be of Pocahontas, the history of how America was "discovered" and the subsequent war and disease that spread across the land (smallpox for example) which wiped out the native population. I was unsatisfied with these teens answers =/ so I wrote my own (I am a teen too...)

They have to remember, the stories given to us as children weren't the "real" story lines. They were made with happier endings so it would be suitable for children and minors. Look at the Hunchback of Notre Dame; the main character guy in the end instead of being able to save the gypsy, he buried himself under ground with her dead body. Life isn't always lollipops and unicorns.
