I really sympathise with Venetia… I could never imagine having parents that show little care about my health, let alone having a medical condition that serious. Really wish her well and to have a strong will to overcome the obstacles ahead of her to pursue her dream. Nursing is such a tough job, especially with the manpower crunch, long hours and strenuous work, hopefully she is able to be in full control of her health.

We should hear her parents side of the story. It could be scary, I have it. But since it is not something serious I also went to hospitals and clinics and nothing showed. Of course after hearing from doctors that you are ok multiple times, then parents do not know what to think. I even though I was a little paranoic and crazy. But it is more related to physical and mental stability. Usually if you get scared or pay it too much attention you get worse. Walking everyday and doing enough regular activity symptoms reduce dramatically. In my case I did not have more money to return to the hospital many times and learnt what it was many years after. I got better just by doing regular physical activity and avoiding some eating bad habits.

@@ZamaGon I have PoTS and it's a spectrum. Obviously there are those worse than mine, but through most exercise or 'just walking' I faint, which has caused numerous head injuries and scares. The exhaustion is so bad I lay most of the day, and at the time of my first symptom onset, I went from a 96 average to 75 average in school quick due to horrific brain fog and an inability to retain information due to constant oxygen deprivation. It's a range.

grandma crying broke my heart. If I may, insert the butterfly needle at a closer angle to the skin, I'd usually recommend 30 degrees ish. Near an open window when it's bright or with a powerful lamp will help so can see the veins better, hold the skin taut with the other hand before insertion. Perhaps there can be home care visits arranged for him so a nurse can assist, please ask the doctor if that's possible.

Venetia parents is the worst kind in the whole EARTH! who can show no concern (paying for test and not giving mental support is absolutely MENTAL); are they even her parents? no parents is as horrible as Venetia.. going through the medical journey without any mental support is typical from the older generation parenting method; paying for her medical insurance and medical bill is what parents should do as the parent but no mental support is sickening to any human being with emotions; imagine if Venetia is able to control her illness and neglect her parents cos there is bitter root in there which will manifest and the hurt the parents did will affect how she deals with her own parents

How is Venetia managing her POTS symptoms whilst pursuing Nursing? She shared that her symptoms are triggered by positional changes such as bending down and standing up. Are there any accommodations made at work? Any memo from her main physician to advise what activities she should avoid at work? My assumption is that bedside nursing ie. in the wards may require tasks that involve positional changes, like transferring patients, emptying urine catheter bag hooked below the patient's bed, monitoring markings on chest drain, retrieving things etc. How is Venetia navigating these? Please don't get me wrong. I believe NUS ran medical checks for prospective students and reached the decision that she is a suitable candidate. Just curious how she's managing her nursing duties with her condition.
