Would love to hear "Cuba Baion" with this cart.. It might take some of the brightness away and flatten the audio curve.

This thing sounds clean for 1950s tech. I wish they would release today's music on Tefifon. Nice mod with the cartridge. I played this video to google and some results came up. Sh Boom is the title but cannot find the artist. Some of the results are by other artists and some too modern like covers and re records. Shazam found nothing now google is showing nothing.

Well as Techmoan said, most of the music on TEFI format is unfortunately rather cheesy cover versions of famous songs...

@@vapno92 It would be nice if today's music was released on this format. That would be cool. Anything from the 50s through today.

This title (Sh-Boom) was recorded in 1956 in Vienna by Klaus Alzner and his Orchestra with Die Swingsters, also released as flip side of "Rock around the clock" on 45/78 rpm "Harmona" (Austria) and "Club" or "Bertelsmann" (Germany) records. Have a look at discogs!

Sh-Boom (Life Could Be A Dream) was written and first recorded on Atlantic Records' subsidiary label Cat Records by the R&B group The Chords on March 15, 1954.

Why did you put a shure cartridge in it and it sounds amazing for a piece of 1950s tech

Was any rock n roll or cool jazz released in this format? Being well versed in how records are made, I am struggling to think how they could have made these carts. Serious tech!

It was popular music and cover versions only. The phono tape cartridges were expensive, so it wasn't good for experiments.
@robfriedrich2822
@robfriedrich2822 11 ай бұрын
They recorded the tape on a metal tape, cut it of, pressed it into the vinyl tape, spliced it together, fixed with microscope and some manual editing the tension, that it has no click.

@@robfriedrich2822 Producing a Tefi tape was much more complex than pressing a record. Also a reason why the record companies refused to produce Tefi cassettes.

I don’t know, I kinda like the cheesy German easy-listening stuff. I own a Sabamobil and a couple of tapes for it that have some German jazz and pop hits. I find it to be relatively enjoyable, though I suppose this stuff isn’t particularly enthralling to listen to when compared to the mechanics of the device being really interesting lol.

Not really a 'magnetic cartridge'. The tape is a really just a stretched out record. It has a needle following the groves, except instead of a disk shape, its in the form of a tape. But wonderful video!

The longest tapes are up to 4 hours. Later they sold single loops, without cartridge, what didn't make any sense.
