My enclosure is riddled with burrows. Juju won’t even go underground if he thinks we’re watching. I am firmly convinced they NEED burrows to feel truly secure.

That's what these lizards do in home land in the wild. Spend probably approx 18-19 hrs below ground. Then 5 more months staright during brumation depending on ambient temp. My male from Argentina seeks out daily to get to mid 70 degrees and is so happy when I let him do it. He sleeps for days and he goes to the same sopts day afetr day, week after week. Behind the washer and dryer on the ceramic floor in the coolest part of the house. It makes me apprehensive because we are told they can only digest their food if they stay above 85 dergees. I have come to accept to a degree that Mac must know more about himself than I do. Burrow video #2 coming out tomorrow.

@@GettingthruLife yeah it’s kinda nerve wracking. Juju comes out from about 7-11AM and then goes into one of his burrows and sleeps. I’m honestly kinda jealous.

Tegus are passionate diggers. Most of ours are 4 now, and they all really like being underground. Sometimes for days. Thank you for another great video. I hope more people learn how wonderful Tegus are. And the realities of having them.

I wish I had the near perfect cage for mine which would mean id have to win the lotto to buy my own home and build a really nice, custom built, extra large and natural looking habitat that they deserve. I think we can wing it for another year like we've been doing but they need a room sized cage to be happy. The 4x8 cage i built which for me was an impressive build but turns out 4x8 is nothing more than just a temporary holding pin for these guys. I just want to try and provide an idea of what I think these lizards need as most getting into these lizards believe that a grow tent is all that they are going to need. I wish, so wish I had a way to give them a indoor cage where could have dirt that's 5ft deep and be surrounded by glass so I could see their tunnels but then there would be the problem getting them out. Tomorrow I got a burrow video #2. I feel it provides insight. thanks for commenting. Appreciate the things you say and share here.
