I think they both realised that they could hurt each other, and despite the tegu having parts the cat was dying to play with, they both behaved very restrained and well!

my friend had a tegu when we were kids and it was just wild. He kept it in a tank, so it's no surprise.

It might have been a columbian tegu, those are a lot less mellow then the argentinian ones. Putting those with a cat will probably be a bloodbath

My tegu does not do good with other pets, he tries to harm my gsd all the time, so I keep them separated

An adult duck should've been no problem but if you had a chick i wont recommend you any kind of big reptiles.
