Beautiful, It's nice to see this longer footage of this guy when he's chilled out like this. You get to see the real relationship underneath all that instinctual aggression from your other videos. Such a graceful giant here.

Thank you very much 😊👍 Glad you like the length of the vid. Though it might be a little long without any particular progression or any commentary. But it had been a while since my last upload. So I wanted to put something up here. I can never seem to find the time to do the editing of the footage. You make it look so easy in your videos 😅

We have 24 lizards currently but we used to have 34 years ago a few large green iguanas….one was so incredibly tame he was like a dog…zero aggression ever and all love. Some greens can be aggressive but its important to get one from day one that seeks out attention. Our super dog like one literally ran up our arm as a baby and loved people. We had other ones who were resistant to people from the beginning. Important as people get greens is to remember temperament is everything. Being experienced with all kinds of lizards since 1990…even mean Lizards can become so incredibly tame but look for 1. A lizard who Loves people immediately 2. One that is scared but in their demeanor an obvious desire for people despite the fear We just got a rhino Cyclura Iguana who was so mean…but we could see she really wanted love and affection. 2 months later she is in love with everyone and will look like she is crying if people don’t pay attention to her We also have an Egyptian Uromastyx. We got him as a baby. It took us a year with us carrying him around nearly most of the day but 3 years later he is incredibly sweet and goes everywhere we go. Temperament matters but time does too.

I noticed that he has a soft, pillowy bed, rather than a rock. They really prefer the soft stuff?
@anjatrorup1612
@anjatrorup1612 3 ай бұрын
@@cherylj7460 He loves his dog bed because he can rest in so many positions. But he also enjoys his heated cocofiber mat. In the evening, he will climb into his enclosure. Where a platform with a slight upward and concave angle, is wrapped in hessian strap. And that's where he is more territorial than any other place. But he will also "pancake" on the floor a couple of times a day. He doesn't like things that only support part of his body. Or things that moves, shift position or sway when he steps on them

@@anjatrorup1612 This is fascinating! Is his favorite platform heated? Do they prefer to sleep on a heated surface?
@anjatrorup1612
@anjatrorup1612 3 ай бұрын
@@cherylj7460 For the past 6 months, he has favored his ledge with heated cocofiber mat during the daytime. But I think he prefers his enclosure at night, because temperature and humidity is very stable, no matter what the room temperature is. Enclosure is heated with a CHE at night. If he could only pick one heat source, I think he would pick the heatmat. Though they are rarely recommended in the hobby because of the risk of overheating and moisture getting into the electronics. His heatmats doesn't exceed 31 Celsius and are produced to withstand moisture

@@anjatrorup1612 Hmm. Off topic, I’m in Florida, and have a colony of red headed agamas - I usually say they’re in my backyard, but lately, they come into the screened patio to sleep! They mostly cuddle up in the aluminum beams. But there’s a few who like the soft cushions! So, with all the furniture put up prior to the hurricanes, I fixed a soft spot - and just checked. The same two are sleeping in the flannel sheet I folded for them! They’re both babies.

@@cherylj7460 Ohh you're in Florida!! 😱😬 I hope you and the Lizards are OK? I watched the live coverage of the hurricane for hours, here from Europe/ Denmark. @@renerobinson7740 When our sweet old iguana died of age related illness in 2021. We had the knowledge and the setup to house a rescue. And there are always iguanas that need rescue, because people don't do the research before buying them. Our new juvenile was frightened, underweight and full of parasites. But after 3 months he was parasite free, gaining a ton of weight and loved to jump onto me or run up my arm. Then after about a year, puberty hit him and he was drowning in testosterone! His personality completely changed and he became the most aggressive iguana I have ever seen. But even if you get a nice iguana. They are notoriously unpredictable. Especially during breeding season in the winter (northern hemisphere) I've added links in the description to much better videos than mine, about green iguanas 😊

Are they aggressive ? Do they bite ?
@jolynmarie1791
@jolynmarie1791 8 күн бұрын
@pumpkinpuna4087 Iguanas can either be aggressive because they are so used to being prey and are always on the defensive to protect themselves, or they can be loving, docile and loyal. If you are patient enough to earn their trust, have a daily routine with them and love them, the payoff is MORE then worth the wait ❤ Im so happy you asked rather than judge like so many do.

So handsome in that opening shot. So much calmer than the other vids, much more accepting of your touch. Crawling on you, tasting you over and over. I think you may have hit a mile marker here. Is he coming out of breeding season? Or is he a handful year round?

Thank you for the nice comment 😁👍 He gradually came out of breeding season around April. It started in December. Though for the last two years, it seemed that he was never really completely out of it, all year round. He is almost as calm now, as he was before his first season in dec. 2021. I'm gonna expect him to get aggressive again, come December. But he is already almost at maximum size for an adult male (8+ kilograms). So I'm hoping that we are all set up for another season. No more emergency security measures. And I keep my fingers crossed that his worst behavior is behind us. 😊
