13:05 Tom, surprised you didn't mention the thematic connection with all the "twos": Ancient Egyptian arithmetic was largely based on doubling and halving :)

Reviews like these show how well Tom can communicate non-trivial in-game concepts, often in long takes. I doubt he gets the chance to play many games more than a handful of times. Many thanks for all the great work! And I like that the Silica Gel sachet was included in the component drop!

Still pondering how I can install a small spot to create a real shadow from the Obelisk, one that doesn't also blind one of the players. Or maybe that would be even more thematic.

Tom didn't mention it, with more players there are more dice in the pool. You might not want to go last, but it's not going to ruin your game.

I was intrigued by this game and was anxious to know more about it, see game-play, and how it all works. The concept of the obelisk looks interesting but other than that, like another poster mentioned, it seems like it has the the same game design/mechanics as Teo, Tzol'kin and other games Tascini designed Not saying it's a bad thing as most games have similar mechanics of other games. The cards do sound interesting. I'm actually torn. It's one of my most anticipated games. Tawantinsuyu is another one designed by Turczi(Anachrony, Dice Settlers, Trickery) that I'm anxious to see more of what's it all about.

When playing. With four players, I plan to start the game. With 4 dice in the two shaded areas instead of 3.

It seems less innovative then Teo and Tzolkin. The obelisk with the shadow is basically a rondel that has been done in other games. Have to admit that the obelisk casting the shade gives some theme. Other than that just a rondel. The cogs from Tzolkin and the leveling and ascending your worker from Teo I hadn't seen before in any other game.
@PandaOfElastic
@PandaOfElastic 4 жыл бұрын
I mean, the mechanics in Teotihuacan was also basically a rondel. Probably even more of a traditional rondel than here...
@davidturczi5713

Teotihuacan is basically a rondel, just with multiple pieces per player circling. There is NOTHING rondel like about Tekhenu, I promise.
