Hwoarang is cool because everything about his design matched with his personality. It’s not just his biker theme outfit that displays his delinquent side, it’s also his taekwondo dobok. He has an interesting personality, Hwoarang lives for the thrill and doesn’t let any rules stop him from doing what he thinks is fun. Despite what his rough personality would suggest, Hwoarang has an honorable side. He respects his master Baek and prefers to have a fair fight with his opponents. He rejects any form of supernatural power so he can rely on his own fighting skills. While Hwoarang is a jerk most of the time, he’s actually a fairly decent guy when you get to know him. His rivalry with Jin is interesting due to how it developed throughout the series. It evolved from a bitter rivalry to a friendly one. Jin and Hwoarang are now basically just the friends who prefer to beat each other up rather than hug. No matter how much they fight, they have each other’s back. It’s a typical example of vitriolic best buds. Hwoarang was even willing to sacrifice his eye for Jin in T7 even if it was just an temporary injury and he didn't lost the eye for real, it shows how Hwoarang was more moral than Jin at that particular point. Lastly but not least, I consider Hwoarang to be one of Tekken's strongest designs. I personally think that he’s the best representation of TKD in a fighting game. Hwoarang is awesome and I can’t imagine the franchise without him.

Hwoarang is one of the characters that will benefit the most from Tekken 8's heat system. One successful heat engager and he's in your face with his abundance of strings and stance options that all do chip damage on block... Sounds like a nightmare to me.

"Matured" might be the best word to describe this redesign. You can tell he's still a hothead, but it's not on the surface like it used to, but that scoff and smile in his intro with Jin is all you need to know exactly how he feels.

I think Steve will play pretty much the same, but won't get the most powerful version of launcher in the game. Also his pressure will come from chip damage in heat.

The return to his Tekken 4 look is a bit jarring considering the last time we saw BoB he looked like a K-Pop singer with an eye patch, but then again he hasn't looked this cool since Tekken 4, so...I'm right there with you, it's potentially my favorite redesign so far too, definitely a step in the right direction, on top of that I think him inheriting some of Baek's moves again really works well with his current visuals, he looks like he has matured a bit, very much looking forward to playing as him in T8.

"We had to reset our pc to get rid of malware" Modern malware can be quite tricky. If you can afford it, destroy the old bootdrive and never use it agsin. I'd also he suspicious of the motherboard firmware, but that's neither simple nor cheap to replace if it's somehow been compromised.

I'd hate to have bin the bootdrive, it's one of these nice Samsung EVO SSDs :( Hoping the malware we got isn't that sophisticated. It doesn't seem to have cropped up again though after the reset and no problems to speak of since with Windows. Know it doesn't mean all that much but have been running a virus scanner regularly and it's all turned up negative.

This trailer is number 2 for me. The redesign is perfect, his new voice is amazing, and he's looking fresh without being completely alien to his character identity. Also his interaction with Jin is sick as fuck. Only reason why he isn't number 1 is his rage art seems to spit in the face of the concept of gravity

Tekken 8 is gonna be the first time I'll enjoy playing Hwoarang in a very long time. The last time I enjoyed playing Hwoarang was in Tekken Tag 1 because he was cool at that time, but in the newer games such as Tekken 6, he felt unchanged that he no longer seemed interesting. Many other characters such as Law, Lee, Anna, Jin, and Baek got their moveset revamped drastically which made them feel new, while Hwoarang kept a lot of his moves (animations) from Tekken 3 and Tag 1. The only notable change was his soccer kick air throw. But now in Tekken 8, a lot of his moves have changed (they still need to fix his head during Hunting Hawk, though) and he inherited many moves from Baek, which made him more modernized. He's gonna be a lot of fun.

I love this new design for Hwoarang, he absolutely appears more grown up, and seeing how much he takes after his master is so nice. I noticed a neat little detail in his design, Hwoarang now has a black belt with 8 white stripes and 9 orange stripes, while Baek had a black belt with 6 white stripes. As someone who knows practically nothing about taekwondo, could this mean that he has now surpassed Baek and become a master himself?

indeed, in taekwondo, as of karate, they have Dans, ranks above black belts, as a black belts itselfs is like "good, you know the fundamentals, good luck", hwoarang has been a 2 dan taekwondo practicioner since tekken 3 so he kinda rushed through dans, what having the leader of a military corporation does to your reputation, also he has the black pants, white shirt of certain taekwondo masters, more mature, more agile, stronger, wiser he clearly surpassed Baek at this point

Hey Salami, as someone who recently got hacked, any tips for people that have not yet been hacked? Apart from keeping back-ups to prevent loss of work in the case of a PC reset, of course ;-)

I think the best protection against hacking is just to exercise caution. In my case I opened an exe file from a friend on Discord...who had also been hacked and the hacker was impersonating my friend. Since I share a lot of files on Discord for work this made me quite vulnerable to this kind of attack. Other than that, of course have a good antivirus program, keep windows up to date, put 2FA on everything and regularly change password every couple of months, especially after a data breach.

Yoshi is a very very specific character. You can't make him top tier by giving him strong fundamental tools. He is very trick-oriented and he never was your average tekken character. He always exels in surprising and stressing opponents with mechanics which only he has. And I think that Youshi is good the way he is in T7. He really needs some fundamental buffs like stronger df1 or decent low poke that 0 or +1 on hit and -12 on block but no more in my opinion (f1+2 is realy good so). Yoshi has a soft spot in my heart and I don't want to see him top tier. I just want to see in him a decent competitive character with his scumy unblockables and other very unique and strange things like flash. I hope that you catch my idea. Have a nice day! I'm in the camp that Hwoarang's character design is bland when compared to the other characters which look way more flashy and over the top ( like Lars, Jin, and Kazuya). Personally, I really like the direction Tekken 8 is going in in regards to it's presentation, since it seems to be going in a more anime direction, with Jin now showcasing his demonic wings with many of his attacks and doing cart wheels in over the top fashion, and that's not even mentioned the the addition of hit sparks flying everywhere with every attack for the entire cast. And I'm ALL FOR IT, some people will criticize this for not being realistic, but do I REALLY need to remind people that this is the same series, where you can play as a bear, a boxing kangaroo, a gigantic robot, a cyborg, and a FREAKING magical piece of wood that comes to life? Do I REALLY NEED TO REMIND YOU that the main focus story wise is on super natural beings known as devils? NO, all the developers are doing is just incorporating more of the fantastical elements into the game play, instead of keeping it only in cutscenes, making things MORE consistent. Yes, there were normal looking characters like Bruce, and Paul, but I'd argue that even they had anime elements incorporated into them, since they acted like one dimensional anime characters as well. Again, what one considers to be a good character design is all subjective, so if someone prefers the more traditional character designs that's a perfectly reasonable opinion to have, as long as you don't act like the heavier emphases on anime doesn't make sense for the series, since there's evidence that says otherwise as I already pointed out. Switching gears to game play , one of the things I value most in a fighting game are unique characters with mechanics SPECIFIC to that character that shake up the game in an interesting way. Some examples of unique characters in my favorite fighting game titled "BlazBlue Central FIction" would be Relius, a puppet character where the player has to manually control TWO characters at once. The balance to Relius is that the puppet he controls has additional meter that you have to mange that goes down after every action. Additionally, Relius doesn't have many deffensive options outside of system mechanics, which makes the game more interesting. Another example is Amane, a character that does HUGE damage on chip, meaning it can actually be MORE dangerous to block in certain situations. The balance to Amane being able MURDER a player for the act of defending in a fighting game, is that his chip damage VARIES based on what level he's in ( think of levels as an additional meter bar to a regular super meter in Street Fighter), and the lower the level the less chip he does, and Amane has to meet varies conditions during a match to raise it, and the character himself lacks defensive options outside of system mechanics. Finally there's out main protagonist of BlazBlue Ragna, who has the ability to REGENERATE his health bar if he hits you with certain attacks. The balance to Ragna, is that he has some of the lowest health in game, and doesn't really have much strong mix up options ( like 50/50s). Granted ( Ragna's uniqueness is more passive compares to other characters in the series, but still cool none the less, since it's unique ONLY to him in how he obtains it). It's all godlike, now let's see how Tekken 8 is handling unique characters based on everything we've seen so far. Having seen how the heat system tries to make the characters more unique, I don't think it will match games like "BlazBlue Central Fiction" in terms of uniqueness, since most of the heat changes do minor things from what I can tell. For instance, Kazuya doing more damage, and having easier execution on electrics are all things that DOESN'T really change the character really or even how you approach playing this particular title, it just makes what you were already doing MORE effective , The only two exceptions that I could tell was Jun and King. Since Jun can apparently get health back( though I was under the impression every character could do that with getting grey stuff back, so her just getting more health kinda weakens it if that is true) and King, who is probably the most unique out of everyone I've seen, since Harada said in an IGN interview that in Heat he has super armor attributes to one of his moves. Additionally, I heard ( not sure if its true) that you are unable to break his throws while King is in this state. And this is what I want, unique things to the character that give you crazy access to things ONLY specific to that character. Hopefully, these King changes will stay in the final product. And hopefully Harada will give stuff that was given to King ( and Jun) to EVERY SINGLE character. Because right now the game is looking to be STILL homogenized IMO, just under a new system. Hopefully when the blasted Salami posts his impressions video on Tekken 8 he focuses in on this unique aspect, since this is my biggest concern for the game BY FAR.
