One thing to consider for newbies... Don't always rely on juggle combos. Sure, they are satisfying to perform, but you'll end up being predictable most of the time! It can be extremely frustrating when your execution ended up being countered... Instead, look for moves that are low in frames, example for Jin is B+2, 1... Use it to cancel your opponent rhythm of play, then surely you'll find the time to counterhit/launch, based on your own rhythm of play. Most of the time you'll never pull out a complete juggle from the samples or even KZbin guide... You'll find your way to juggle as you play the game (hundreds of em), your moves will become your dance style.
@yellowscarlightningscream83478 ай бұрын
I agree because I can't combo more than 3 hits to save my life. But by playing smart and defensive I am orange rank. However, a major point of discussion is that there is no frame data DLC in the standard version of Tekken 7 which I believe the majority of people have. They can't really know about the frame stuff.

Personall I would recommend for bindnig controls R2 (LP+RP), L2 (LK+RK), L1 (LP+RK), R1 (RP+LK). If you want to activate heat, you can press R1. That is also the default command for heat. If you want to activate Rage Art, you have to push the universal command DF (DownForward) + L2. Or you put it on R3 (pressing left control stick).

This is another great explanation of all the things you can do in Tekken. No offense to you or all the other videos… I don’t want to know WHAT all the things I can do are, I want to know HOW to use them! The game already tells me the what. I am a total noob and I just want know how I should be playing! Like my VERY FIRST GAME, What does that look like? How should I be using all the tools as a TOTAL NOOB. I want to see how to use the fundamental. Where should I be spending my time practicing? How much should I be pouring over the move lists?, etc. If I am learning to drive a car, i want to know how, not what every component of the car does in extreme detail.
@MadMikeYT7 ай бұрын
fair enough. the truth is, u gotta play in a way that works best for you. so for example i can't tell u what character you should play. i can say what character people are considering to be the best for beginners. but in the end u need to play the character for yourself and find out if u like their playstyle. once u find a character, mess around with them in practice mode, learn a couple moves, mix them together for certain combos. u don't need to know all 100 of that characters moves. maybe 10 - 20 to keep ur opponent guessing. tekken gives each character so many moves so that YOU can decide how you want to play them. u can follow the tutorials in the game to start learning. but in the end i'd recommend making ur own playstyle with certain moves. cause everyone has access to the tutorials so they've seen how those tutorial combos work. sorry for the long message. but i hope this kinda helps😅

Just so everyone knows, you don't have to double tap up or down to dodge, you only have to tap it once quickly. Double tapping up or down will make you dodge, yes, but if held will make the character continue walking in a circle around the opponent. And in a life or death situation, one tap instead of two could save you a round. Also, one of the most important things on pad to do is bind. It will save your life. Bind your buttons, but unlike what Mike mentions, don't bind throws, you won't use them nearly as much as other button combinations (unless you're playing king) and besides, pressing 1+3 is way easier to do on pad then 1+4, you can grab without binds. One more thing that Mike doesn't mention, is that a lot of strings (i.e. button combinations (1, 2, 1)) leave space and timings for your opponent to counterattack easily on block. It is VITAL to find out your character's best poking fuel and go off from there. Don't just assume that a string of buttons is a good attack, it could be devastating. I highly, HIGHLY recommend (if you're going to play online against random's at least) watching character specific guides or pro players who play your character and learning off from them. Tekken characters have notoriously long command lists, but you'll come to know, pro's barely uses even 20% of a character's moves.
@nickochioneantony92888 ай бұрын
If one wants to become familiar with the game, I honestly recommend them to play T5 instead (seriously). Through your PS2 or emu, the game is still great imo, story & character unlocking can be enticing too. T7 was kinda overwhelming for some people, most of them don't even understand the community instruction to pull f, n, df+2... T8 is easier to digest, but I think the way to pull out combos is still overwhelming for newbies and they tend to rely on them instead of poking and performing sidestep T5 is the fundamental for modern tekken moves, you can't juggle, but you'll learn moves frame cost, what considered as poking & what considered as punishing/heavy... And mandatory sidestep practice from Jinpachi's fireball
@oblisk77788 ай бұрын
@@nickochioneantony9288 I completely get that, but a lot of players are going to start out with T8 on PS5. They probably won't have an old PS2 to play T5. And those on PC who are new probably won't care enough to emulate it.
@nickochioneantony92888 ай бұрын
@@oblisk7778 sadly yes, younger people entry would be T8... and I've seen some players eventually obsessed with juggle combos that are predictable. They don't create their own style. Great news for veteran who can punish some high frame moves, but it will frustrate the newbs. I just hope T8 practice will feature some other fundamentals such as throw/grab breaks, proper moves to execute while lying down, sidestepping etc.
@oblisk77788 ай бұрын
@@nickochioneantony9288 A fair few content creators have already played the full game, and their expectations have been blown out of the water. Training mode is apparently really good, giving multiple options on how to learn different matchups and what moves are/aren't good for your character. Apparently, when you boot up the game for the first time, it recommends you to play a bit of arcade quest, as that mode teaches you fundamentals and gradually gets you to learn more as you progress the story of that mode. Actually, funnily enough, IGN (yes, THAT IGN) did a in-depth, if not quick video a couple of weeks ago covering the training mode options and how extensive they are. New players are going to be perfectly fine in T8, I'm sure the team was focusing on casuals a lot more this time around.

Great guide and love the 'baby steps' approach, but it's still missing A TON of info for people who want to play Tekken 8 for the first time. You basically just covered what the in-game tutorial teaches, but like even less technically (ex. didn't go over blocking! Didn't go over movement like running and jumping!). I recommend making a more in-depth guide that covers the game mechanics, such as explaining blocking, types of moves (high, mid, low, etc.), countering throws, move properties (blue trail = tracking attack that can't be sidestepped, red sparks = ?, etc. etc.), stage walls/transitions, controls and defensive options for when your character is on the ground (I still don't know these), etc. Can make it a separate guide and title it something else, but yeah this video is super surface level and not comprehensive at all (as per description). Not saying to offend of course, very well edited video you put together, just missing a lot of important info beginners definitely need to know.

dont...use heat burst to extend your combo 90% time unless u got a awkward launch u cant juggle. Heat burst scales your combo very hard and in the end, you get way less damage than you could have.
