Tekken 8 really blew me away with its first chapter, felt like a final fight between Jin and Kazuya. But it was just the beginning of what's to come. Won't give out spoilers to those who haven't played or finished the story campaign, but all I can say is that the final chapter was just pure bliss of awesomeness

the first and last chapters were decent, but everything in the middle was complete utter g4rbage for me. it's like an imitation of an already derivative shonen. I know people are veeeeery forgiving with the game's story mode for the insane legacy (almost 30 years and counting, literally the longest ongoing game story of all time) and because the game got out absolutely stellar in almost every conceivable way outside of it (I still can't believe how smooth it runs on my pc). yes, T8 is phenomenal, but my god, the story mode is ATROCIOUS in regards to... story lol (gameplaywise it's cool, I was actually more invested in the fights than the cutscenes)

I wasn’t a Tekken fan before 8 but I will say it has potential to be my favorite fighting game. It’s so sick to get your timing down on your combos, and rounds can end in like 10 seconds if you know your shit. Tekken ball also slaps so hard with the homies. I don’t really care about the story in fighting games so I can’t speak to that, but it has everything else I could want in a fighting game, and cross play means this game will live for a long time.

I think you should have to select special style at the beggining of the match with the ability to turn it on and off between matches on the ready up win screen. It feels cheap to get adjusted to someone’s play style just for them to swap to special as soon as you adapt mid match to try and get a free easy pop of damage.

I am 100% blown away by this game. This is the best Tekken game that I have played since Tekken 2 when I got my PlayStation when I started college in 1996. I was a fighting game fan from the time I played Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition when I was 14 or 15 in the early '90s until I fell in love with RPGs like Skyrim and Oblivion but Tekken has been such a huge letdown lately. I didn't like Tekken 6 or 7. The game play was not fun and the visuals were ugly as hell. I didn't expect much when I bought this last night but boy was I wrong. I have Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1. I have Mortal Kombat 11. I had Street Fighter 5 and most of the other Street Fighter games. I had most of the SoulCalibur games and most of the Dead or Alive games, but I have to say this is one of the top five fighting games that I've ever played. Street Fighter and soul Calibur are still my favorite two fighting franchises but this reminds me of why I fell in love with Tekken in 1996 and why it was my favorite fighting franchise for a few years until I played SoulCalibur on my Sega Dreamcast.

Still Tekken is better in many aspects, but I do recommend Project L even if you never played League of Legends, it's developed by the creator of rollback netcode and GGPO (T8 uses rollback to smooth matches online). It will be more oriented to be an anime fighter (like Marvel vs Capcom or Dragonball FighterZ) while Tekken is a traditional 8-way fighter (Soul Calibur, Virtual Fighter).

There's 5 for each character which makes gamplay and combos feel stale.
