One of the reasons people are complaining is not due to how strong or weak characters are, but rather the nature of interactions in the game, which in many cases ends up being a pure 50/50 and the match is over after a couple of interactions. Now add the fact that those "OP" characters lost their identity from previous games and are now flawless steamrollers, and you get an angry playerbase. Dragunov used to be a linear character with strong mids and highs, but his only good low was d2, so people wouldn't duck in most cases, now in T8, he has hatchet and d2, QCF4 and chip damage, so as a defender, no option is good. Yoshimitsu is the same, with all his tricks and bullshit being balanced by subpar damage and way weaker healing. NSS flash is an 8 frame launcher, and in heat he heals more than double, both permanent and recoverable HP, add his absurd damage and around 10 different setups, and you get a monstrosity that gets to survive more than 2 interactions in a round while taking more than half your HP per combo. These are just the tip of the iceberg, both had clear weaknesses, and now they're all gone, with extra BS added, making them even more annoying to fight. All of that and I didn't even start with how bad ranked is after Tekken king, where there is an entirely separate pool of players you will be facing, how netcode is somehow worse for most people I know that it was in Tekken 7, with constant teleporting enemies and delays, no solution to the plugger problem, which is more prevalent in higher ranks (10~15% of my matches have one since I promoted to Tekken Emperor) and many more problems, such as wall interactions and weird hitboxes.

Its getting the right amount of hate in all honesty. If this is your first major tekken, then this game was designed for new players and thats the issue with. If you been a long time fan of the series like myself (i been playing since tekken 2) its just way too aggressive and 50/50 gamble-y. Previous tekken games were all about having great defense, good spacing and proper neutral to outplay your opponent which is what made it so enjoyable. Now its just made to skip the accountability of messing up and wanting to improve with this terrible, unpolished heat system. The armor on heat activation is just a cop out mechanic that ultimately ruined what made tekken what it today and im not trying to be mean. The heat system making everything plus and heat smashes forcing constant 50/50 and rage arts having one button supers with infinite amount of armors has just made the game more designed for scrubs to win and not have to practice as much. The only positive i have to say about the game for me is the rollback netcode feels great i rarely lag an played about 300 hours myself so that regard its worth the money but the unpolished heat system AND chip damage just hindered the defensive aspect of the game too much to make it more RAGE inducing than even enjoyable.

I've played every tekken since tekken 3. Tekken 8 is a good game. Offense can be very overwhelming, but it absolutely always had the ability to be. Heat just adds one more guess to a couple interactions. But you can absolutely still outmaneuver your opponent and win neutral, and to say you can't is ridiculous. Also you can beat heat burst with armor breaks and throws if you read it. Reads are a big part of neutral and they go a long way in this game

The thing that deters me from ever going near this game more than anything is the overall hyper-aggressive orientation of the gameplay design - the gimped backdashing, being able to force a 50/50 at the press of a button, chip damage - and how the mechanics of the game, in conjunction with the Ft2 format in Ranked, kneecap those who lean towards a slow, deliberate, methodical playstyle at every turn.

This is definitely true I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been able to tell somebody is adapting to my play style but I still took the set because they didn’t have time to fully download me. The opposite also happens where I just get steamrolled by a bunch of knowledge check bs and as soon as I start to figure it out it’s already over. Having more rematches sounds good on paper but more than half the time I don’t get 1 rematch so you know almost nobody would actually use multiple rematches anyway

explains why you think it's getting too much hate, when you're pretty much new to it. if you go deep enough, you find out that most issues have good reason, yoshi and zafina are literally broken (apart from how strong they are). and that's just two smaller issues that only truly come into play in tournaments. but then there's the entire insane monetization thing, and certain online and performance issues, and the fact that cheating is a huge problem without any anti cheat planned as of yet. so no, it is not getting enough hate actually.

the problem is the devs deliberatley made choices to stagnate stronger players in so many areas of the game that it lost its identity from the other tekken games. movement feels like shit, hitboxes are out of wack, everything is tracking for some reason and its all done for sales instead of integrity. playing this game is unrecognizable from the last entries and just misersble im rlly sorry to say. catering to an audience of children who refuse to learn anything as opposed to dedicated players is a spineless move idgaf what it is. why are we forcing ppl to pretend to enjoy things ?? if its shit ppl will leave a bad review, seems to be the case

The reason you like tekken 8 is because you haven't played the games balanced by mishimastar (t5-t7) when they were populated. t8 is definitely a smash bros, party game version of tekken and it's definitely reasonable why people hate on the balancing of this game on top of the mtx. And characters being easier is NOT good for the game long term or short term. People got into the game regardless of if the game was accessible or not. I picked up multipe specialist characters throughout tekken BECAUSE they were complex and in t8 they either removed them or made them VERY simple, removing depth. no offense but that statement halfway throughout the video sounded like you were trolling!!!

@@JonkinsThePimp People normally appeal to characters like Jin or Eddy in regards to simplification. These guys had a lot of nuances to their movesets that made maining them fulfilling for their players. They appealed to specialists, whether or not they were powerful in the Meta. When I think of "simplification," the characters that pop in my head are the Mishimas. Literally each one. They all play significantly more similar to one another than ever before and it is because they all have similar tools to navigate neutral. Kazuya's Neutral has been made easier with the introduction of ff2 (Demon Paw, Heat Dash) and CD1+2 (Massive, difficult to avoid, +OB mid that forces vortex). Heihachi has the fastest "Demon Paw" style move with ff1+2. Reina's ff2 has been nerfed twice because of how braindead and flowchart-y it was. Each of these guys also have a "Steel-Pedal" that prevents their opponents from safely escaping pressure after knockdown using a roll or delayed tech. Heihachi has like three or four now. Each of them also have i13 electrics now, seemingly for no reason other than to make Kazuya even less unique. The way these characters go about getting close and harming their opponents is just more simple. There is no other way to say it. Each Mishima has been "Simplified," even if you could argue their execution is about the same. Sorry about the wall of word vomit, and there are other examples like Yoshi, or Asuka, but I think the Mishimas work best.

@@JonkinsThePimpExactly people always find something to complain about. If Jin didn’t have his d2 nobody would complain about him. When the game dropped hordes of people were saying 1,3,4 was completely broken and brain dead even though he still had basically the same string in t7 But because it was tekken 7 it was a strategic string with risk/reward whatever. Because it was tekken 7 it wasn’t stupid or broken but because this is tekken 8 it is. And you better believe that when tekken 9 comes out people will say that tekken 8 was the epitome of “real tekken” and it was perfectly balanced and everything in tekken 8 was better. as a new tekken player i agree, seems like its a bunch of people that have been playing tekken for years and are kinda bored of it and are looking for a reason to cry about something and like you said arent usually good enough at the game to even know if their gameplay complaints are legitimate, experienced something very similar in the smite community. it seems like the only thing tekken players can agree on is that other fighting games are shit compared to tekken, and if thats the case and tekken is apparently also ass,is the whole fighting game genre, one of the most complex and satisfying genres in gaming shit as a whole? because some characters are too overtuned in an overall very balanced game and micotransactions that you dont have to buy annoy you? the game is one of the most fun and complex games in the market rn just because it may have been "dumbed down" or simplified compared to previous tekkens doesnt mean it isnt a complex and high skill cap game and these same people that cry about x or y character all the time kinda prove the point if they were commited to improving on the game, neutral wise alone they can control the game against any character if theyre good enough, the game still rewards defensive play and being able to adapt even if it is more offense focused if you have an annoying match against a top tier and go into the replay system, you'll find something you couldve done differently some type of flowchart you were falling for over and over again

The game genuinely is simplified and players who would be destroyed otherwise are getting higher ranks than usual, and pro players that never had the chance in t7 are now getting close to winning in t8 and actually winning sometimes... know why? it's because the skill ceiling is pushed very low in tekken and you are too new to notice. brushing off genuine criticisms of the design as whining isn't helping and shows you really are a new player at the core... and to appeal to your logic of high rank players "complaining", I'm consistently emperor and above in every online tekken.

@@KyeCreatessome pro players have adapted faster than others. People still fail to recognize that this is t8, not t7. Legacy skill is a huge boost in the game, but it won't carry you back to where you were in t7. The game was simplified by... adding multiple new core mechanics that you have to learn if you want to improve? Skill ceiling supposedly very low in a game where no one will get even close to reaching it. Sounds like you are projecting your losses against players that have taken the correct measures to adapt to the new game, and instead of learning those concepts yourself, you continue to brag how those players would get smoked in t7.

Honestly, I've come to peace with the fact that it'll be a few years until I can look at Tekken 8 as a good product. The current state of the game is just something I'm not into. The 50-50, explosive Heat-Gimmicky gameplay just isn't what I vibe with personally. Not to mention the MTX, the iffy production quality at tournaments, the uninspired first DLC pack, and so on. I'll just wait before I get into Tekken again for real lol.

I can understand where people come from when they say that they feel the hate is too much but from the perspective of people who have been playing for years, I feel like a lot of it is not actually hate. It's simply criticism. Calling out Moonsault Slayer for making a video criticising his own character's design is a bit silly because its how he feels playing him. Yoshi is traditionally a weak character with a very unorthodox, rule-breaking moveset. Giving him strong fundamental tools, inescapable setups and high combo damage is genuinely bad character design. I get 100% what he was saying when he said its not even fun to play him in this state because your victories don't even feel earned after a point. If criticism for the things you care about the most start being labelled as needless hate, then you will eventually stop loving it. "It doesn't matter that you've ben playing for years and have vastly more skill at the game, your opinion is not relevant because I enjoy the game in its current state and anything you say that goes against the narrative that its a flawless game just means you're a hater."

i really enjoy tekken 8 and i think most of the problems stem from the game being new and trying to innovate on the tekken concept. it has introduced very abusable moves and mechanics, that beginners can easily latch on to. however a lot of the core ideas behind tekken still remain around using game and matchup knowledge to escape a situation. i really don't see how the game being slightly more beginner friendly is a bad thing for the game. i've seen a good amount of first time tekken 8 players that are grinding this game endlessly. idk how having a new dedicated player is bad for the game. certain compromises have to be made. as much as i dislike comeback mechanics and swingy matches, there is a crowd for that, and it's not like there's 0 skill involved in playing a volitile game like that. i think there's some entitlement, people thinking the games should be exactly like how they expect them to be. of course the game still needs fine tuning, it's not even a year old and so many people cry about things not being fixed. devs can't go in changing things haphazardly cause they could end up messing the entire game up. i'd rather them take their time and be meticulous about changes. personally, i think people complaining about balance are beating a dead horse. every fighting game has questionable balance and i don't think having clear top tiers is bad for a game. i actually think rosterbloat is a thing that new fighting games struggle with.

But you just said it yourself, you played every other game casually. All the people who played the previous games seriously have had to compete against a new game that is designed to force as many 50/50s as possible which means that you will eventually lose regardless of skill. Dragunov is traditionally designed to have only one good low damage low attack, and strong mids. The devs have now given him strong lows to go along with his even stronger mids which means that the opportunity to use knowledge and learned skill to counter him is much harder than it should be because he can just force a mixup in every interaction with you. You are able to have a better chance succeeding with Tekken 8 because many of the characters and the heat system do half the work for you.
