It’s translated incorrectly to “I treasure” in the subtitles but he says “you love” using “amare” which is generally the verb reserved for romantic love, and the camera is focused on Jin and Xiaoyu. Also, his body language in the story and in her ending is most definitely not platonic lol. A person steps closer to you with that slow step and gives you that look… Then the fact he says “I want to live” in the final battle and thinks of her. Plus there’s a bunch of other small things like matching dialogue. You don’t need a kiss to understand what’s happening between them is romantic.

They mistranslated that scene where he said “whom I treasure.” In Italian he says “ami” which means “you love” and ami is almost always used for romantic love. So he basically said Jin loves Xiaoyu and that’s one of the reasons he needs to leave the colosseum and not get himself killed.
