Im going to say what i said on Mike Hollows page. I think you need to refer to a word called "precedent". Bandai set a precedent in Tekken 7 that followed the community into Tekken 8. Yes precedent is an expectation, but it is an expectation based on a history of ongoing behaviour that has formalized itself in a way that is to be applied formally. The council i work for has been taken to court and lost cases in what is Called the State Administrative Tribunal over precedent that was set informally and not written into law itself but applied by regulating bodies to a certain degree when making decsions that could/would effect stake holders. I've also seen precedent being written into law itself due to how formal it became within a council. Given the outrage about the paid stage i think its pretty clear what has happened. A decison was made to no longer respect a long standing precedent without any notice and it pissed stakeholders off and up heaved long standing standards. The outrage is completely justified.

I don't mind the price itself. I just wanted it insede "1-year pass", not "character" pass only. I used to T7 season pass witch included all DLC along the year (+some customization). Now the items are inside a battle pass, witch I'm ok with. But the stage being not included into the deluxe/ultimate edition triggers me.

Nah, that's a pretty bad take. Like you, I paid for the Ultimate Edition. I already paid my $50 at launch to support the game. T7 set a precedent. Season passes include Characters, Stages, and (some) cosmetics. Then the cosmetics got pulled out into microtransactions, and people were pissed. "At least the core content is still in the season pass / expansions" they said. And when Lidia launched, people just kinda accepted that it was only the customization stuff that we were being screwed on, and people moved on. But now the stage is decoupled from its character? You gotta pay AGAIN on something you thought you already bought? Nope. If this is how they say "thank you" to the early supporters, then we're done here.

"You can pay them (for character items) with Tekken coins, but... they need money. They need MONEY money." Yeah, but we (the season pass holders) already paid. They already have my money. They've BEEN had my money. Taking that $40+ then telling me "oh yeah, that's just not enough. We changed our minds." Yeah, that doesn't slide. Then; "Disliking a game because of a stage, I think you lot need to touch grass." Brother I'm mad as hell. They took my money first, THEN started trying to double dip. After T7 Tekken had some trust, but now I just feel swindled. Breaking the trust of your players by removing expected content and trying to sell it to them again is despicable. And it SHOULD gain those mixed/negative reviews. Those people hardly need to touch grass. This is just their last straw.

It's not just the stage. DLC characters are dull. Stages are lackluster and now new interesting ones cost money. Customisation is extremely limited and you have to pay £4 for each set of clothing and hair lol. Balances aren't happening for months so we're getting dragunov winning 5 tournaments in a row. It's become pretty clear what their motives and interests are

I think the community is noticing a pattern on tekken sales and its starting to leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. You can fuck up but theres only so many chances and fgc being grassroots, boycotting really makes a difference unlike a COD or whatever shooter. So BN needs to move better or theyll turn to MK

I wouldn’t go as far as to go on Reddit or elsewhere online to bash the game or give it bad reviews just because of this. But I do think the stage should’ve came with Heihachi for those who at least bought the Ultimate or Deluxe edition of the game. They are a business at the end of the day but I think they should’ve made it known that it would cost money ahead of time since a lot of people assumed that it would come with Heihachi like the beach stage did with Lidia.

Okay I’m gonna play the middle ground because obviously Jae wants the best thing for the game. I saw that it was a “character” pass and not a season pass just yesterday. I was angry as hell at that, and blamed the Tekken team for it, but remembered they released things with Tekken 7 together as a season pass. The whole thing with a complete live service game and constant updates and needing money is valid. Without funding you can’t keep a live service game running, but they could do WAYYY better with the content they dish out. The battle pass is absolute dog water and has been since the first came out. I get it because I got the first one and had earned Tekken coins to get the next. This is a greedy thing on Bamco’s part because they knew that more than likely we’d be expecting the stage to be included in the pass. I agree completely with everyone’s being upset about it though. In the contrary I don’t think shade should be thrown at Jae for his take on basically everyone’s outrage towards the Tekken team. We aren’t a part of the development team and don’t know completely what’s going on. We can’t just place blame on them. We absolutely can with Bamco though.
