In regards to Kaido's losses I think its important to focus on the way Oda described him during his intro. Oda mentions he single handedly challenged the Marines and the other Emperors. Judging from the fact that we see Kaido jump off the sky island alone, and isolated from his crew, (a crew that seems to have no idea where the fuck he went) it seems that Kaido simply does whatever the hell he wants and only has a crew for the sake of having a crew. I would not be suprised if it is eventually revealed that Kaido drunkenly went by himself to hunt Whitebeard without saying anything to his subordinates and either A) Shanks was able to talk him out of it or B) Kaido fought the entire Red hair pirates by himself and was defeated which would count for one of his losses. It would explain why Shanks crew looked relatively unscathed at Marineford. TLDR Kaido is so strong he does whatever the fuck he wants and does not shy away from facing the worlds most powerful organizations alone cuz he DGAF.

Actually Moriah was neck and neck with Kaido. The reason Kaido beat him is because he killed his entire crew right before his eyes and was able to punch him so hard his chin came off. After that Moriah was super depressed and gave up on fighting and ate a lot of food to cope with his depression. Eventually he realized he could make an indestructible crew with zombies. So he could never feel the pain of loosing someone again. So he gave up fighting for the most part and now figures "why should I fight when others can for me"

I got a theory: Im hoping that Kaido is a good guy that is gravely misunderstood by everyone just because he's scary. Going with the Oni-Oni nomi theory, Kaido might be under the influence of the japanese folktale of "The Red Ogre who cried". So because of the long years of being treated as a monster he then just go with the flow and show the world how monster can he become. Then he got tired of all the shit he's doing and now decided to just die because Roger is already dead (probably his rival/friend) and lost his will to live, coz all the new pirates are just a small fries where he just sneeze at them and they die. So probably, in this plot where he is building an army of zoan fruit users, he might be trying to lure out a certain character to actually grant him his wish of death. So going wih the "if ever Kaido is actually warm hearted" maybe luffy can persuade him and make a promise to him or just Kaido seeing a silhouette of Roger on Luffy , and remember all the good memories he has. Then he maybe become a ally with the Strawhats. Also Kaido might befriend Zoro in the events of Wano Kingdom, depends on the circumstance, just like Issho in dressrossa where he wasnt identified as a Admiral at first but just a very dangerous blind old man. They maybe interacted in the midst of Zoro getting lost at somewhere then end up meeting Kaido in a forest or somewhere in a mountain, and shared some sake and exchanged stories and laugh all kinds of shit. (Dont you think thats kinda awesome to see? :D) Anyway those are just my thoughts about Kaido. Pretty much a wishful thinking. Coz i really like Kaido becoming an unexpected ally in the coming huge war that will happen after 40yrs hahaha

I know I'm super late but I think Kaidou might have a mythical Zoan of Namazu, a catfish that even other divine entities could only restrain and not completely kill. It was said to cause earthquakes and such. I think the immortality to normally fatal situations along with the giant mustache/whiskers and the fish scales on his arm are some support for my theory. I think a big flaw in it is the fact that Whitebeard had the Gura Gura no Mi so two earthquake related DFs within the Yonko seems unlikely but I don't know. Hopefully someone sees this and can help me build on or destroy this idea!

tbh I think Oda is setting up for Blackbeard to kill Kaido and ultimately be the last battle for Luffy. Reason why I think Blackbeard is the right person to kill Kaido is cause if Kaido's immortality is due to a devil fruit for instance then Blackbeard would be able to nulify it and harm him. Maybe that's why Blackbeard waited so long planning and betting his success on the Yami Yami no mi because with it he would be able to kill any devil fruit user without much else.

I personally have 2 theories. The first and what I believe to be the most convincing one is that he really ist just too fucking strong to die and even eating multiple devil fruits doesn't harm him, hence the name "Kaidou of the 100 beasts". The fact that he switches between personalities quite frequently could support that theory. Maybe the "devil spirits" he ingested each have their own kinda personality constantly battling over control. If these are Smiles, I believe he could turn each part of his body into a different beast. The other theory I REALLY want to be true is that he ate some kind of Zoan that simply allows him to breathe underwater. I mean, Marcos *mythical* Zoan lets him fly and acts like a Logia. Maybe Kaidou has the mythical Dragon Dragon no mi, type Mizuchi, which is essentially a water dragon. There has to be a reason mythical Zoans are rarer than even Logia. I personally believe that's because they allow you to overcome some kind of weakness or something like that (I mean, again: when Marco is in full Pheonix mode he's essentially a Logia user which is that specific devil fruits advantage and the Mizuchi fruit could turn you into a "fishman"). Both theories make sense in my mind and I hope I could explain why well.

Kaido have a lot of refferences to make theories.. 1- Kaido were ancient roads in Edo Period (japan). There were importants (even today), in some of them happens the story of 47 ronin (a link for the wano no kuni theme) 2- Kaido of the 100 beast, there are several myth of creature to that, one of the most popular was Typhoon, greek's myth, powerfull creature who attacks zeus, it have head of snakes, dragons, and other animals in his body, father of other creatures like Hydra, Cerberous, Chimaera etc. The other creature is from Hindu myth, Shesha, king of the serpents, it have 1000 heads dragon looks like.. 3- His inmortality.. in the hindu myth, there was a demon king who ask a favor to a god (brahma) and he become a great warrior in his name.. he ask inmortality, but the god can't give to him that, so he ask that: "Grant me that I not die within any residence or outside any residence, during the daytime or at night, nor on the ground or in the sky. Grant me that my death not be brought about by any weapon, nor by any human being or animal. Grant me that I not meet death from any entity, living or nonliving created by you. Grant me, further, that I not be killed by any demigod or demon or by any great snake from the lower planets. " So, he is virtually inmortal.. his wife's name is KAIADU, so similar to Kaido.. they have a child, whic also have some kind of inmortality because KAIADU once was attacked and she was procteted by Visnu (other hindu god, rival of brahma), so she and his son become to pray Visnu, and Visnu protect the child always. The Demon King doesn't like Visnu, in fact he hates him, so he decides to kill his son, but again Visnu appear and kill the almost inmortal demon king, following all the condition.. Also the demon king has an army of beast and demons.. So, may be Kaido has a relation of that final myth, his inmortality, his name, the demon theme..

This is speculative as fuck so take it worth a grain of sand but I have a theory that maybe just maybe Shanks foresaw what would happen at Marineford with his godlike Haki (basically Ace and Whitebeard dying changing the world) and how that would effect Luffy's growth. Shanks has been seen on multiple occasions saying how he "made a bet on the future" and I think he is grooming Luffy for something. Whether it be as innocent as wanting to see him become king of the pirates or maybe something sinister maybe having to do with the will of D IDK (curious how Shanks being a follower of Roger and being as strong as he is hasn'nt been revealed as a D. huh) Sensing that Kaido's interference would change this destiny he probably sold him on the idea that the outcome of the war (ie the next generation) need these events to pass in order to grow, and that one of them may grow into someone strong enough to end Kaido's misery. Either that or his crew jumped Kaido giving him one of his 7 L's. This theory seems B.S i know but I feel there is something more to Shanks than meets the eye.

This dude looks like a beast, but I think he lacks speed. They gonna speed blitz him followed by Room... Gamma Knife to dome, Then King Kong Gun to the chest followed by Zoro (Asura) Demon eye smash through the knees. Law just needs to keep using room to teleport him.. by this point Luffy will prob have G4 mastered and possible awakening... high chance of beating Kaido if that happens. After that... Kid will possibly awaken as well... fight will be savage. But if Kaido is fast... it will take more effort and strategy to take him down.

Maybe he's like WB... he's slow but can perceive fast enemies & projectiles easy and block them, but once he's in Law's room they can gang bang him.... Law will have comple control. Well, we actually don't know anything about Shanks. He is my favorite character. He has an image of cool pirate guy, a bit lazy, hedonistic guy who likes to drink and party and enjoy life to the fullest, but he may be the most powerful yonko for real. I think there was the mention that he had several battles with Mihawk, and what we know about Shanks, he could be joking around, and be Mihawks match. At Marineford battle ended when he came and said: "That's enough", and everybody made cream in their pants. I like to see Shanks as the architect of the storry we read/watch, because he is the one that put Luffy on his path.

Well i would say one reason is that the official Funimation subs of the episodes, as well as the English manga call it the "Immortality operation". So right there you have like the entire English fanbase thinking it's immortality. But isn't eternal youth still immorality? You live forever & you don't age? That's what i thought anyway.

With eternal youth you can live forever if you live a life without danger and have luck. But they can murder you. If the ope ope no mi can make anyone really immortal (it cannot die no matter what) that would lead to a really hard plot point in the series. In a Shounen an "immortal" character leads to deux ex machinas. And worst, if the immortal one is one of the top most powerful ones in the world. I mean there was a character in Naruto that was immortal, but at least his body could be damaged enough to split him in pieces and buried him. He is still alive in the darkness I think. But he was not really strong. Kaido has top tier power and if he don´t even has to worry about being hit that makes it unstoppable, unless he is an idiot and gets trapped somehow or they pull out a deux ex Machina. For me he is not immortal, and oda may have put himself in a corner by saying that he cannot be killed. "chains broke when they tried to hang him" you would think that they tried to kairoseki chains at least right? So the chain brake kairoseki casually. (How can be captured?) And for now we don´t know why he can not drown himself, but that could have some explanation.

Nope, there are defiantly only 3 of them. As for the actual name, I would say that is just a thing with translations. Calamities and Disasters are kind of the same thing so you could use either interchangeably. Big Mom was the one that had 4 top commanders, until one was killed by Urouge.

I just watched the whole punkhazard arc again and I just realized something. When Kinemon and Brook took down the green dragon inside the labs, Kinemon showed pure hate and malice toward the downed dragon, constantly kicking it. Now that I know what Kaidos devil fruit is, it makes sense.

I think that kaido might have the mythical zoan type hydra hydra fruit. The Phoenix fruit allows you to heal from any injury, but Hydra not only heals but it also gets stronger when injured. It can shoot fire or lightning out of its mouth. It would be a fitting fruit for the king of beasts.
