In an SBS Oda revealed that Whitebeared knew he was going to die in Marineford and was basically already dead when he arrived at the Summit War he had left his Medical team of Women with all the machines that were keeping his condition stable somwhere safe, the dude was legit at his weakest in Marineford so Whitebeards feats durring the summit war aren't even comparable to a healthy Yonko.

You forgot to mention the point where he got the most character development! You mentioned the scene where Whitebeard said to Shanks that Blackbeard broke the Iron Rule and needs to be punished. You forgot to mention the scene where WB says to Ace that this one time it is OK to let it slip because he has a bad feeling (practically ordering Ace to not pursue BB). For Whitebeard to not reveal his stance (and siding/aligning with Ace's stance even if its not his own take on the situation) asking Shanks who the hell he is and saying he is to young to order him around was soley to back his son. Imo that is huuuuuuuuuuge. That shows he backs his sons no matter what even if they do have different opinions on a situation and no matter how powerful the opponent might be. - its how a father should be!

Dwalkjr Near the place where I live a theres this kinda bad neighbourhood. There was this old man who was like 65+years old man with a cane walking down a street, as a pretty big black man approaches him and tries to steal his wristwatch. This old man proceeds to cold drop his cane and deliver a goofy as hell right uppercut to the robber's chin. The big black man dropped out cold as the old man leaned picked up his cane and walked away calmly. Never underestimate old people. Sometimes they learn this weird punches whose damage scales with EXP. I also heard of a story of this old chinese man near my house that was being made fun of by some teenagers, so he bitch slapped one of them to provoke them and as they try to retaliate the old man performed some kind of submission maneuver and kind or wrapped the dude up like a used diaper and held him down with on the ground with one hand as the dude cried in pain.The other teenage dude got scared and apologised. I've had a thought - possibly a common one - about what the Will of D. really means. It could be nothing but I was reading the wiki page as this video was playing and it mentioned something curious about the Will under Blackbeards section. I don't know if it is wholly accurate but it mentioned pretty clearly that Blackbeard is the only one to show a fear of death. It seemed to be oddly specific and it got me thinking; perhaps it stands for Dreadnaught (A nautical term referring to the largest class of warship which has nothing to fear (hence dread nought)) All the D. bearers, an indeed most shonen jump mains, share this quality of fearlessness and a drive for greatness. See Naruto and Goku and, well... let's just forget about Ichigo shall we. How can Teach share this initial then if he shows a clear fear of death? Well I figure he's a slimy bastard who probably stole or falsely adopted the title to legitimise his claim to the One Piece rather than inherit it via family or fate or whatever. Lastly, I've seen the bearers of D. be described as the 'natural enemies of God' and I think this solidifies the claim. If they truly are characterised by a lack of Thanatophobia it makes sense that they would be as opposition to God. Without a fear of death one does not have to fear the afterlife, and when one does not fear the afterlife, it is not necessary that one should be God-fearing either. A popular argument against religion is that it requires, and enables, conformity and fear but these things do anything but define the bearers. Even Garp straight up lied to the Marines about Ace's identity for 20 years. So in short, the D. stands for Dreadnought 'cause it's nautical in origin and reflects a specific trait all bearers have which, by its nature, directly opposes conformity - especially to a 'higher power' - making them, in the truest sense of the word, pirates.

The theme of biological family or Nakama compared to family that´s not related by blood also Nakama is a reoccuring staple in the story that´s always shown in contrast with one another. We got Garp that although loving towards his Grandson never was a good grandfather alongside his son Dragon who is a terrible father. The same applies to Yassop who left his family for the sake of adventure. On the other hand we have Bellemere who sacrificed her life to save her foster children amd Dadan who risked hers for her foster son Ace . Robins mother left her daughter to research her profession. but she was treated well by Clover and the other scientists with her terrible aunt pushing her around. Now due to this arc we got two more examples. Whitebeard who loved his foster children dearly and honestly and Big Mom who uses her children for her own goals. But we also got Judge and Jeff. However it´s not clear what Oda tries to say as we got to see great biological parents like Kyros or Cobra.

@Tekking101 in Japan isn't there a warrior of some kind in japanese lore or history who died while standing during a battle or something? I wanna say the name (spelling is likely wrong) was Binkei or something. I've always thought it was amazing that Whitebeard died standing and wondered if Oda was inspired by something else for the way he died. You said that you think Whitebeard was Oda's idea of what a man is and everything a man should aspire to be I assume. But when you mentioned it I wondered if Whitebeard is what Ace could have been if he had lived a longer life even if it were just into his 30s even if not as strong. Can you imagine how strong and capable Ace could be in his 50s-60s? How great could Ace have become if he learned from his mistakes and didn't have so little regard for himself (including how much others care about him) simply because of the opinions of sheep (nobody who never met either saying Roger was a demon and so would his child who should die for being his child) practically hammered into him? Ace's biggest flaws were his temper, impatience/bad timing, lacking good judgement & not learning from his mistakes in my opinion so what if these were at least reduced to a more manageable level rather than disappear from his character? I think if Ace at the very least learned from his mistakes than he would have lived longer. Do you think that's the case?

In the Whitebeard vs Akainu fight Oda originally wanned to kill of Akainu with that punch but was convinced otherwise by his editor and instead made him most likely one of the last "villains" for Luffy to face against. So essentially the quake fist to the face literally in any normal sense should have killed Akainu, its just that he got some plot armor to survive.

You really shoulda rewatched the war of the best or something before doing Whitebeard and Shanks. Just a few small details getting overlooked like whitebeard punching the air to create the tsunami and after rewatching the start of the war of the best I'm almost 100% sure that Shanks' ship was coated like whitebeard's fleet and snuck into the fold that way which is why no one noticed they were there.

whitebeard seemed to be suffering from chf(congestive heart failure). the heart isnt strong enough to keep liquids from pouring into the lungs. they have to have a doctor drain their lungs. while in the hospital they are always on low salt and fluid intake. after the lungs are drained they usually end up with those oxygen tubes in their noses like whitebeard had sometimes. it is also something that of course affects primarily the elderly. i strongly believe whitebeard had chf. this absolutely wouldve taken him down a tier. whitebeard is shown to not listen to his nurses as they tell him to watch his fluid intake. they dont want his lungs to fill with fluid because he cant take in as much oxygen as he otherwise would and he must constantly watch his intake of food and water. we know he doesnt. he couldnt cut loose without his stamina dropping almost instantly.

Here's how you know Whitebeard was OP when he was younger. Silvers is OLD and he can tussle with Admirals without a problem. Silvers boss, Gol D. Roger threw down with Whitebeard a few times and they earned each others respect. So, yeah, respect Whitebeard. If you pay attention, Whitebeard seems like the linchpin that was holding the New World together. Nobody could make a move if Whitebeard could Gura Gura all their ships. Now, the shit is really hitting the fan because Blackbeard doesn't want to keep the New World in balance, he wants the other Yonko fighting each other so he can pick them off when they're weak enough. Oh, and Akainu probably survived the Quake Punch the same way Dolfy survived getting cut by Law. He probably turned his insides into Magma then reconstituted himself while he was hiding in the ditch.
