18:33 Zoro's mom, Tera, died from illness. It's in the SBS too. I don't think Kouzaburou could have been another sibling of Furiko, because Furiko and Ushimaru were from a noble family of daimyos, descendants of Ryuma, while he was a swordsmith and there's no indication he was a descendant of Ryuma too. They probably belong to separate branches (families) inside the huge Shimotsuki clan, just like Yasuie and Ushimaru are from different branches. So we can't even say for certain that Zoro and Kuina are related, since they might only share one Shimotsuki ancestor that lived hundreds of years ago, and that would be so far back in the past it wouldn't count as "being related" anymore.

Her entire clan was hated, hunted down, and killed for what Orochi's grandfather tried to pull. Holding people who weren't responsible accountable for something the one person did. Orochi continuing that cycle of hatred and betrayal. Tama, on the other hand, experienced the same hardships and might have gone down a similar path. However, an act of kindness from Ace and being nurtured by Sukiyaki, placed her on a different path. One that will eventually redeem her clan. They might have been "born to burn". And Zoro got rewarded with the sword made by Kozaburo, the guy who founded his own village. Tama, a child of the Kurozumi clan, lived a miserable life because of her own clan. And Sukiyaki, the same man that the Kurozumi blamed just for being born, took care of her. And the worst part is that we could have understood all this from the manga. Honestly, some people just don’t care about their family linage if family was never their thing in the first place. And that could be how Oda is writing Zoro. Zoro never grew up with Family and has always just been fighting throughout his life. Plus, he’s not the emotional type. All he’ll give is just a smile or maybe just a “ooooh interesting” reaction. He’s not going to get all teary eyed by learning about his family. And I’m sure his Uncle (Kuina’s Dad) didn’t want to bring Zoro up like that. He wanted to make him a strong and ambitious fighter. Not depressed and dream/goal less because of the unfortunate outcome of his parents. So even if Zoro is told and shown who his family is right now, it may not even be that deep. Plus, Oda implies that he’s going to talk about the connection between Ryuma and Zoro later.

30:30 Yamato staying in Wano also helps with that. You have the Okuchi no Makami, guardian deity of Wano, one who very flashily fought against Kaido and was intrumental in keeping the remaining of the Beast Pirates in rein, being a descendant of the other oppressing figure, Kaido, I don't know who spread Tama's involvement in the battle of Onigashima was, but if it was publicly recognized, the best course of action would be to do it with the Kurozumi name tied to her, to accentuate that what both Tama and Orochi did, and same with Yamato and Kaido, has nothing to do with their lineage

Technicaly going by funky land and title inheritance laws, if Ushimaru Shimotsuki had no children, Zoro could legaly become the daimyo of Ringo thanks to his Shimotsuki grandma. So, another endgame for Zoro after the end of the series I guess.

10:03 Ushimaru is Zorro’s Grunkle then 33:53 I assume you’d have to take a Devil Fruit out of someone to cure a Smile. I assume Law can’t do that, otherwise his fights would be much shorter. Vegapunk might though.

A cure for the SMILEs, that's something in Vegapunk's alley. I mean sure, Chopper and Law are talented doctors, I always thought that is beyond the medicine knowledge of Chopper and Law. Maybe that's why Zoro wanted to talk to Vegapunk in Egghead...

Thoughts. 1. Before this, the most thought I put into Zorro's family was playing "The Wonderful 101 Remastered" on my P.S.4 and reading a bio for a minor character who, despite his top notch skills in driving, apparently has a sense of direction so bad that I considered him to fit as Zorro's father. But then again, the thing I pass off as a brain has made quite a few such connections between that game and "One Piece". Multiple sword fighters, including an actual Grim Reaper. Plenty of potential opponents for Zorro. A makeover specialist known for changing people to better align with their "true selves" to a point where even their gender can be changed. Sounds like a viable predecessor for Ivankov in terms of who wielded a certain devil fruit. A chef whose bio sets him up as being able to turn any ingredient into food so good that invaders sneak into his restaurant for a taste. And so on. And so forth. 2. Shame the story with Zorro's family couldn't be worked into the main story. On the upside, at least whoever sorts out the content of the anime will have that as an option to animate, should they need filler down the line. I could see an episode or 2 focused on that family history. As for the framing device, Zorro could've asked someone about the history of the maker of Enma after realizing that it was Kozaburo, someone he met in his youth. Could be set after the battle at Onigashima but before the Straw Hat crew left Wano. After finding out that Kozaburo left Wano the same year alongside a group of others, Zorro could hear the name of another that he recognized from his past, possibly his grandmother, and have a flashback to a day when she or someone who knew her told him about her life after leaving. 3. Yeah, that last line could've been phrased in a way that better emphasized the intended target. Possibly something connected to the whole "coal into diamonds" thing. I will now put my suggestion here. "When faced with the pressure of life, Kurozumi can either shine or burn. In the case of Orochi, he was born to burn!"

I thought Zoro was never a real pirate hunter? He said he never gave himself that name and only did it because he needed cash, plus it was free practice. He’d turn in pirates who were causing trouble / challenging him so he had money to eat

Was said that Tera died because of a illness. Ussop's mother also died of a illness, and Sora, Sanji's mom, had an illness because of that potion to undo the experiments that Judge did to their unborn sons. Kind of a pattern on straw hats male members that were in East Blue.

43:31 Fire Dog almost sounds like an adaptation of Akainu (Red Dog)'s life and career in the Navy (which probably reads like Punisher or Judge Dredd). Maybe it's even an attempt to create a new Sora but with Sakazuki as the new model Marine hero. If so, Ryokugyu probably is a monthly subscriber.

In retrospect, I really feel like Oda should have split Wano up somehow. Maybe a larger Post-Wano arc just to decompress. For as crammed and slow as it felt during Onigashima sometimes, it also rushed through so many things that I really feel like it shouldn't have. I suspect that if Oda redid Wano from the start right this moment, he'd already be able to make it better thanks to hindsight. Kurozumi Tama is such a good detail and it doesn't deserve to be hidden behind the SBS. Maybe Oda can drop that tidbit later, but it just wouldn't hit the same.

Remember the whole deal with Tashigi being VERY similar to Kuina back then which sparked many over the top theories. I just thought of something which would make a lot of sense. The recent sbs stated that 25 members sailed from Wano. After they saved a village from mountain bandits in the east blue, only 10 members decided to settle thus founding the Shimotsuki Village. After reading it again, I thought to myself, "What happened to the other 15?". That's when I thought about the possibility that Tashigi might be descended from one of the 15 Wano immigrants who didn't settle in Shimotsuki Village. This theory would make a lot of sense and would explain her uncanny resemblance with Kuina. She's basically a long distance relative. It'd also add to how she's very knowledgeable on almost every famous sword.

If anybody tries harassing Tama, they got Luffy, Nami, Momo, and the new 7 Samurai’s to fight if anyone starts problems with her. I’m just saying, that little girl went through too much. I was sad af when she learned what happened to her parents. And to think your own family did this to you. Orochi didn’t even seek out his families. This means he just became power hungry and didn’t give af who he harmed once he gained the power. Like before, there will be people stepping up for her clan. But this time a majority. The sad part about everything that happened in Wano was that all the rulers didn’t want that Clan to be hurt and discriminated like that. It’s just that majority of the people are wicked and just aren’t going to listen to their rulers thinking that they’re right for fighting for their ruler. That’s why Oda said it’s still a problem in our time. Because not everyone loves doing things the right way.

@zameize Жыл бұрын
Sanji's backstory is integral to the plot point of WCI. Meanwhile Zoro's past is not integral to the Wano. Oda only gave hints for Zoro being the descendant of Ryuuma is enough narratively to give justification of his insane skill and durability when fighting King.

I think part of what bothers people about it being in an SBS is the sense that like SBS is usually for truly just extra info, almost like an super unnecessary reading if you wanna see some neat stuff, and you’re just dying for more one piece. But folks gotta understand, the SBS has been going on for decades, it’s as reliable as the cover stories and a super valid part of the one piece experience. Non integral stuff that still greatly expands the world building, I think it was a great spot for Zoro’s family, honestly classic SBS material that people are (understandably) peeved about since it was just something we wanted for so long
@RockinAfr0 Жыл бұрын
An important part of being a writer is knowing what backstory to include and what to leave out. It makes no sense for Oda to shoehorn Zoro's backstory in if there is no character reason for it to occur. I have no issue with Oda leaving it out, Zoro wouldn't care either!
@thetruebluestarj4746 Жыл бұрын
Wouldn't suprise me if we get a full story on this through a flashback of what zorro experienced in wano when he meets death. It was a very epic suspenseful moment that seemed, at least to me, to imply zorro was experiencing the afterlife or at least limbo. Could maybe meet his family who present him their history and the choice to join them or return. Mybe he has to defeat one or more to return. Would be pretty crazy to see. Might even learn a new technique.
