Yea it's VERY trippy in a surreal and almost dysphoric way. It really makes you wonder wtf is going on.

Why not? Although it should be mentioned that the song has three different, interleaving time signatures, at least partially (and that's the key to the visual narrative of the music video as well). The basic beat is 4/4, the main (acoustic) guitar riff is played in 6/8, the lyrics are sung in 5/4 time signature. Go figure ..
