In this video we have our first "big" tool haul from Tekton. If you have watched the channel for awhile, you might remember me bring in their 3 Piece Set of Swivel Head Ratchets ( • Tekton 91804 3 Piece S... )...since those came from Amazon I am dubbing this "Tool Haul #1." So what did we get? How about an Impact Socket Set, a few impact adapters, a 30/60 Angled Wrench, a few Screwdrivers, some O2 Sensors, and a host of smaller, miscellaneous items.
Product Updates
As for an update on all of this...I have used the snot out of the socket set. Zero issues. Just like the ones I bought for work a year or two back, these have been great. I'm not sure you can find a better value. On an off note, my initial plan was to ditch the case and get some really nice socket rails. I have yet to do so and may not...I have grown to like them in the case...it allowed me the opportunity to just have everything right there with me beside the truck and saved a lot of time versus fishing a few out from my cart. The angled wrench is also tough to beat for the value...It also proved extremely useful...already. Might be bringing in a full set when funds allow! I have attempted to use the O2 Sensors...sockets seem fine, but the factory sensors don't have much interest in coming out.
The screwdrivers won't see any use until we set up a test.
And the bungees have been great...nothing fancy, but they have kept my trash can from blowing over a few times and that alone makes them worth the price. I also rigged up a ridiculous plywood fail safe you can see in an upcoming installment of the Ram Revival.

Lovely to see Tekton making tools in the USA. I am British but have been coming to America for years. I always used to love buying American made tools, lot's of Craftsman and old Husky stuff in my toolbox. I haven't bought a single Craftsman tool since they stopped making in America. I can get cheap rubbish at home. There is something so nice about using quality tools you bought decades ago. I will have a look at Tekton next time I am over.

I have started buying Tekton tools (sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers & locking pliers) and have found them to be very hight quality. I also have had very positive interaction with their home office customer service department. Thank you very much for another excellent video.

Tekton has been great for me. I work as a fleet mechanic and use the chrome sockets. I have some of the angle wrenches for hydraulics. And the double ratcheting wrenches. Im looking forward to see their USA made Crows Feet when they release them. Good video👍👍

I think the hard handled Tekton screwdriver looks more like the Canadian (genius tools) brand which i buy a lot of it is very good stuff as good as snap-on you may think we all say that but try it it's 1/2 breaker bar with the hard handle feels great in the hand 👍. GREAT VLOG MI OLD MATE 🇬🇧

For those who are still a bit confused with metric. As a rough guide, 100mm is around 4". 1000mm is a Meter; What is a Meter. it's close to a yard give or take a couple or three inches. That is just to give you an idea to get you started. The real trick though is not to keep trying to convert in your mind. If a bolt is 13mm, it is 13mm, use a 13mm socket and move on. If you can count, you can use metric, if you can count to 50, you have covered 99.9% of the metric wrenches and sockets out there.

I have been buying Tekton for the past few months. I am sold on these people. I am in the process of retiring my old Craftsman Tools. ( Made in USA craftsman ) Only because there new tools are garbage. I just resently bought the 3/8th socket set for Tekton I was really impressed with them. And their warranty is simple and very good.

I have those screwdrivers by tekton a 4pc set i gave $115 for the wrench set and the screwdriver set was free. I have a 20pc gear wrench new design handle orange and black tri lobe set of screwdrivers,a sunex red and black snap on copy lol 20pc screwdriver set, and a 70 pc Pittsburgh screwdriver set with comfort grip handle they all seem decent even the Pittsburgh ones it has a stand for them actually.they are green and black, and i have been cut by the shiny chrome coating from a craftsman socket tearing down the front suspension on a 70 Ford F-250 being improperly used, and i was across the shop not working on the truck my dad was and my leg above the ankle got knicked hard in two spots its not something I have ever forgot i was in highschool at the time.

I've only used the tri-lobe Tekton drivers and have been really happy with them, especially for the price for USA made tools. I don't really see the appeal of the square handle honestly. For sockets I use a mishmash of mostly Matco and SK . Most often I use Matco ADV magnetic impact sockets. Really not all that great, but I do love the magnets and the tool truck replaces them when they wear out or break. I've only ever used offset o2 sensor sockets. I'm pretty sure most of the cars/sensors I work on wouldn't accommodate the straight socket.

The red-orange handles are of a tough solid nylon plastic and you can hammer them even, but they are somewhat slippery. The tri-lobe "high torque" drivers are just that, you can get a better grip due to the shape and the grippy rubber. Each in the tool box has its use.

I have that whole set of the black oxide tri-lobal Tekton drivers...I like em alot... Got the Tekton 1/2" rotohead and their 14/" rotohead... also the Pittsburgh 1/4" rotohead... exactly the same but they're great....Tekton stubby (non-ratcheting) combo wrenches... handy.. Would have got their ratcheting stubbies but I have the whole Blackhawk reversible recycling wrench sets.... Honestly you can't go wrong with Tekton... LOL....I have a bunch of those bungees too....🤘they're solid..imo... primarily use Dewalt sockets... and not one has failed me.... Those Tekton angle head wrenches are an awesome, awesome option if you do a lot of hydraulic work.... because basically your only other options are extremely expensive sets because of the limited manufacturers..... I think Snap-On's set is over $1,000.....Tekton's is

That angle wrench and their s wrenches or the Pittsburgh equivalent would be handy for exhaust pipe and cat mount bolts, and the transmission bell housing bolts on the Mopar vehicles and the older Mopar fuel pump block mount lines it can be hard to even get to the bolt without removing the fuel line..

I have also bought a set of the icon 3/8 and 1/2 inch dr comfort grip breaker bars i bought them separately but they are really nice product i liked my Pittsburgh comfort grip 1/2 inch breaker bar but they don't offer the 3/8 in the comfort grip handle and the 1/2 inch comfort grip handle breaker bar is quite handy for changing wheels on 4 wd trucks and farm equipment, and the Campbell hausfeld and usa vv series craftsman impacts i had were definitely getting worn out the Campbell hausfeld ones were a shallow wall set handy for the American racing atlas one piece aluminum chrome plated wheels i had on my 86 chevy k20 with the 83 gmc k15 High Sierra dana 6 lug axles that was under the truck.. you couldn't use alot of impact sockets to go in the lugnut holes to get the lugnuts out, and I know my Pittsburgh cheap impacts show wear but they wear like iron compared to the vv older craftsman impacts and the Campbell hausfeld sockets. The tekton set you are you looking at is why I am considering the impacts from them buy their sae set and then buy their few metrics and buy thier socket trays then you would have the complete set of both in the 1/2 or 3/8 dr.

I run Gearwrench's metric, 8mm - 36mm, 1/2" deep only impact socket set in the blow-molded case - mostly for suspension work. I also have Gray Pneumatic metric, 7mm - 19mm, magnetic 3/8" shallow only impact socket set on it's own rail. I also have a Gearwrench metric, 8mm - 22mm, 3/8" swivel impact socket set in the blow-molded case - works well with my Dewalt 3/8" cordless impact.

the Tekton swivel head ratchets are exactly the same as the Pittsburgh Pro swivels... no difference except Tekton is (branded) etched on the handle I bought the Tekton 1/4 drive SAE/Metric set and added the Tekton 1/4 swivel ratchet (and 1/4 stubby, 15mm deep and shallow 1/4 sockets also) to the case I already had the Pittsburgh 1/4 swivel ratchet prior to getting the set but I wanted to keep set entirely Tekton, the Pittsburgh swivel’s are just more cost effective to purchase just my two cents, I am a fan of around 75% of Tekton’s stuff I especially like the roll/pin punches

Matco sells that Witte made screwdriver as well in addition to Maxxpro. I have a 20 year old set of them that I like quite a bit. Thinking of getting the square hard handled Tekton torx soon, it struck me that they were pretty close to Snap-on shape as well.

I find that cars I work on use metric. Many of the tools I use on those cars use SAE (like a caliper tool). My larger equipment like an engine hoist uses SAE. Replacement bolts from the store when you bust them are often SAE. Home items that have hex fasteners, also often SAE. I personally wish SAE would just go away. Oh, Tekton, great company, great impact sockets, great service.
@brian_youtube
@brian_youtube 3 жыл бұрын
@Flat Bastard Engineering Channel not to mention the added confusion... such as aftermarket parts using SAE fasteners where the factory part uses metric.

Per the air impact, I've always used them and considered the cordless to be toys really, but I found myself in Illinois with a new (used) car needing to get the wheel off and whoever put the wheels on must have used a cheater, there was simply no getting the lugs off. I ran to the local shop and since I had no air compressor bought a cordless, now I'm a huge fan. Haven't bothered to pull out the hose and impact and oil since, at least for impact needs. Can't say they'd be useful at all in a tire shop or somewhere you almost always have to resort to one, but when you need an impact occasionally these things are the cats pajamas.

So I am seriously considering getting their 3/8 impact socket master set or maybe sunex,i have the 1/2 inch deep sae and metric Pittsburgh cheap set of impact sockets. I used to have a Campbell hausfeld set of those it was a complete set of both sae and metric bought through the older design Walmart strores miss them that $31 a set,, anyways I priced a comparable 3/8 set through gear wrench $145 im wow might as well just buy the astro nano or the neiko/grey pneumatic or sunex and tekton master set lol... And if you need to buy oil pressure sensor type sockets lisle brand good sockets, I have the oil pressure sensor/fuel pump cutoff switch size for the gm tbi 350 it's a special size socket and I love the conversion charts from tekton,try their brand of pliers i had $23 in reward points its their system when you buy from them I got a 8 and 1/2 set of tongue and groove channel lock style pliers and they are something definitely sturdy..

Thank you, great video as always. I love tri-lobe screwdrivers, seems to be the perfect design for my hand, especially the older (70s/80s) Stanley Workmaster line. However, I'm not a fan of these Tekton screwdrivers, I just didn't find it comfortable in-hand, good build quality, just not for me. In your opinion, how does the Witte compare?

Interesting items for the O2 sensors. That shallow one looks pretty useful. The angle wrench looks pretty nice. As for impact sockets, I have the Tekton metric deep set in the case (just like yours I think). For short sockets, I have some Kobalt's in certain sizes I use alot. I used to have a Pittsburgh set in a case that had 3/8" and 1/2" set. I gave those away. As for my Tekton set, like yours mine has that rough matte finish. I disliked that so I sprayed them with a matte clear enamel paint and they are nicer now. I've seen the shiny ones that you have in the video but I don't know what the indication is that shows a set from Tekton is shiny vs matte. The case is nice but it's a drag since it takes a bunch of space. I put mine on a rail and they are alot handier now. Nice haul!

And yes the $65 impact 37pc sae socket set and like i said you can always buy the bigger sockets and get them on their rails and trays you can get deals that way also, and the husky brand tools i have are not the older usa and the 35 dollar Pittsburgh looking husky 3/8 and 1/2 deep socket set of sae and metric i wonder if they are any better than the Pittsburgh and if they are complete sets either
