Tektronix 475A Alignment Part 1 (Power supply and Tube)

I just purchased a 475A with the DM 44 option. ($25.00) More or less had to use control cleaner to bring it back to life and as far as I can tell that was the only thing wrong with it. It appears to have been serviced in the last 15-20 years because it's still very close to "spec". However I still need to check the power supply for ripple etc.. Very useful tips in the video, thanks.

I would like to see a calibration video for a 2465, especially the horizontal sweep cals.

@@ZenwizardStudios I would be happy to lend you mine, but shipping would be a pain. I'm in USA; not how far away you are. I calibrated mine and it seems good, but I'm new to this and don't have the best calibration equipment for it and what I have is not Tektronix. I made do with a Juntek PSG9080 waveform generator and a cheap square wave generator for the higher frequencies. My DMM was more than adequate though.

when doing the geometry adjustments, is it possible to use a square wave from a signal generator instead of using a time mark generator? I have a signal generator with the rise and fall time of 4 ns would that be adequate?

It might be the critical parameter is a straight line. So any straight line should work.

I have a 2445 scope where the text is slightly offset from where it should be (top text little higher and bottom text a little lower). Does anyone know if this is something that calibration fixes or is this indicative of a bigger issue?

I will check the service manual but I think there are position controls adjusted during the alignment process at least there are on the 7000 series. Is the wave form compressed or expanded i would expect a slight expansion. at all when looking at a squairwave? This might indicate a vertical center issue as well the amp and the tube are miss aligned but if it is only off slightly I would expect alignment/adjustment not a major issue with the vert amp
