Some call outs that will be addressed more in depth in a Future Video! 2:40 - sweep blanking during retrace is accomplished by setting the FG output to 0 VDC 3:53 - This is a fault showing its self that is address in a future video 5:45 - Double traces is NOT for ground but rather extremely low Ohms connect for the VCO control this has to operate at 15uVdc for full range sweep control 6:50 - Not hand picked parts however design changes prior to unit 5 being tested. 9:20 - Still arguing with faults due to age. 13:10 - These are Prototype units not really samples so they should meat or beat spec 16:30 - I had the unit set in 3 decade mode as opposed to 4 we will do 4 decade sweeps in a future video.

That is a work of art there. As a technician who's had the opportunity to design things, test jigs and complex interface diagnostic Test Fixtures and have them be put to use successfully helping repair Aircraft Test Set. I can only imagine how the design and lead Engineer must have felt to see their ideas actually make it to pre production engineering sample state. Thanks for sharing, loved the video, nicely done. I got hooked into the TM unit obsession a few years ago. I have a nice little collection with at least one TM box at every work station. A friend supplied me with a Tek modified TM501 which allows a DC503a to count up to 250MHz. I expect the modification was to test out the divider circuit when they were working on the DC505. PS I keep an eye on the supply ammeter whenever I power up the TM units after a period of non use. Trying to avoid the smoke.

Nice discussion of a plugin. I have a few and would like to go through them to look at the engineering and functionality. If you make more of these I'll watch them!

There is a bunch of plugin repair and calibration in the video back catalog. DMM's SG's FG's Audio Analyzers If there is anything specific I can try and shoot a video on it.

There should not be a link in the pinned comment it should just be call outs of the time stamps that will be addressed in a future video. The Innovatia web site is the personal website of Dennis who is the designer of the FG506 from when his time at Tektronix. We had a conference call about repairing the FG506 as the one that made it to the lab was …. Showing a bit of age and really needed some help. Dennis also helped out with some of the lack of documentation.

@@ZenwizardStudios Okay. I get it. Yet... by posting that website address... IMO... that's an endorsement of it. IMO...I'm not comfortable sending... to me... significant amount of money... to that site. Maybe... you can explain better what it's all about.
