Dang that really sucks. Do you know when you got those rounds that were corrosive? I wonder if they had a bad lot or if they're just randomly mixing corrosive primers in across the board.

@Feldmutze it's from several months ago. Apparently, they know and are trying to correct the new batches of ammo.

Yeah ditto on the corrosive. 90 rounds rusted my rifle gas tube, piston and gas block pretty good. Sadly since they don’t list the lot on the individual boxes there is no way to tell which lots are corrosive and which ones aren’t.

Thank you for the informative video. I don't need any 5.45 ammo at this point, but its good to see that the Tela is a viable option, albeit crazy expensive.

I’ve never seen that kinda of a spread in ANY of my 545 guns with any 545 ammo, EXCEPT when I used a scope mounted on a hinged dust cover. It just isn’t stable enough. Unsurprisingly, my groups tightened up after I went back to using the side mount. But thank you for this video. This is the first video I’ve seen of someone testing Tela 545.
@Feldmutze
@Feldmutze 6 ай бұрын
I was thinking it could be the dust cover not holding zero but I recently tested it and I didn't see any difference in the dispersion between using it and not. Oddly, the issue seemed to be with my flash hider of all things, as my groups shrunk ~2" after removing it.

My 104FR gets just under 3 MOA mechanical accuracy using my last stocks of milspec wolf, will get some of this ammo and vise clamp the gun to test it myself, I'm using a BelOMO PO 4x17 5.45 BDC prism optic so having the claimed velocity on this ammo would be a godsend provided I can get good accuracy results.

Thanks for doing the review, I was curious about this brand. Other than with the exception that you could get corrosive ammo, they seem to be an ok choice. I really wish more domestic manufacturers would crank out 5.45x39mm and help us '74 owners out (of course there has to be a big demand for it, and it's not as big as the demand for 5.56/.223 currently).

Soon as I recover from a surgery and the docs let me drive and lift more than 10 pounds I am going to rezero my rifle optics and irons and do something similar. I’ll be using Hornady Black as the baseline. My unzeroed results were promising at 100 yards.

Golden tiger 59 grain fmj is my favorite, along with silver bear, and 7n6, i would buy tela impex 5.45 ammo, if they weren't expensive and weren't corrosive primed, I rather buy 7n6 for corrosive primered 5.45 ammo in my opinion

Those groups were a bit rough. My 104FR and 31-94 usually shoot 2.5-3.5 MOA with GT and 7n6. Next time I get out and group them I’ll send groups if I can get in touch with you. I’m not judging your marksmanship, but there is some sort of breakdown in the accuracy chain here.

I got a few other similiar comments but nobody so far was providing a good comparison so if you could send those that would be great to see. My email is JG-Contact@Proton.me so you could send them there or even post a link to them in this comment. Only thing I can think of is maybe my B-33 is no longer holding zero, but I haven't definitively tested that yet.

I’ve always liked your channel, so if I can help you diagnose an issue, I’m happy to do so. I don’t have any archival pictures otherwise I’d just send them. I have to shoot new groups.

You shouldn't have over 2 inch grouping at a 100 yd either is the barrel or a bad ammohave you thought about using zmac's engine additive when the barrel was hot pour down the barrel while you're letting are you kicking back for a minute let it get on the boat the receiver area what have you give it a minute wipe it all down what the Z max penetrate the metal

Looks like something is wrong with that optic because I can put better groups down with my 105 with tula and barnaul and 7n6 at 100 yards standing with a red dot. With a magnified optic the groups would be super tight. There's no way that the ammo is that bad unless your barrel is shot out. Prone on a bag u should be producing tight groups with any ammo with 545x39
@Feldmutze
@Feldmutze 7 ай бұрын
It's definitely not the optic as I use this same optic on all my accuracy tests now and I've gotten sub-MOA groups with this from other rifles. It shouldn't be the barrel either as I've kept accuracy records of this rifle since I first bought it and the MOA size is still averaging about the same. Most likely it is in fact just the ammo, because the results I got with TelaAmmo in 7.62 x 39 were quite bad as well.

@@Feldmutze still something is off. I’ve gotten consistently around 1.5in groups with that same 69gr before. The fact that it’s pretty all over the place with all 3 loads says something. Not saying tela is an accurate load either, but still.
@Feldmutze
@Feldmutze 7 ай бұрын
@65Red I'll do some off-camera testing to see if I can isolate any issues with my setup. What distance were those 1.5" groups shot at, and how many shots? I've heard a lot of people claiming that sort of accuracy from AKs but I've never seen it get replicated in a proper test.

Yeah I have to agree, I’ve owned two 104FRs and 2 SGL31s and they’ve always shot sub 4” and that 3.75ish group was with Tula, I stocked Golden Tiger and generally that shot around 3” or sub 3” and this was was consistent across both Bulgarian and Russian rifles. I’m sure the ammo would be inconsistent if tested with a chronograph but accuracy at 100 yards has always been solid regardless of how high the rifle’s round count was.

@Feldmutze
@Feldmutze 7 ай бұрын
I've had quite a few problems with Hornady Black personally because they don't seat the primers far in enough and might be using too soft of a primer as well. If it's $0.85/round that's not too bad though where are you finding it for that much? Everywhere I checked has it for over a dollar a round at the moment.
