What pickup height did you set the La Brea pickups?

I'm only at 6:23 but the STR-3 in your CV doesn't sound bad at all. I can't really not a huge difference between that and the Vintage neck pup. The 80 Tele sounds slightly louder. At 12:20, now I can hear the difference with the LaBrea. I still think the Vintage has more presence.

Maybe difficult to hear in the video. But the biggest difference that I hear is the transient response-- the first strike. It pops much better in the LaBrea. And I love it now when I play out as well, not just in my living room.

I have an early 80s Telecaster and I have to say I’ve never heard a sweeter sound than its neck pickup. It has just a hint of Les Paul humbucker oddly enough. It is literally unique of all my guitars, which among them have literally every pickup type.

You should definitely go in and do the "ask zac" "no tone on neck" mod... it is great, big diff!

The LaBrea has smoother (less) top end than the 80s Fender... more of a "smoky" vintage sound... cuts less but has a lot of character. Great for certain styles but definitely not a "rock" pickup.

Thanks! I've been looking for a different amp setup. i like the VOX, but the attack sound (transient) is bit weak, and I don't care for the tone-adjustment adjustments.
