I'm going to comment on this AFTER the election. I imagine the majority of people have their own thoughts and ideas of how things are likely toplay out and I hope with the time the US Government has had to prepare for this they do NOT fail or shrink from taking ANY decision necessary to keep the country and its people safe, whatever the outcome will be.

I have see some pundits suggest that the polling companies may have adjusted their methodology a little too much to compensate for underestimating Trumps support in the last two elections. If that is the case maybe they have slightly overestimated it this time around which may work against him if the closeness of the polls gets out the Democrat vote. The Republicans will also have lost a lot of the Latino vote after the recent joke at a rally about Puerto Rico before that happened. It could go either way, Last week I was leaning more towards a Trump win but now I think Harris might just about clinch it.

It is amazingly dumb and can lead to extremist winning. The safeguard is that the majority nearly always vote against extremism and keep democray safe. The danger of extremism is not the anti-immigration rhetoric, ordinary parties could have that as well. It is the authoritarianism since that is a threat to democracy. US do not understand, they do not have the collective experience that Europe has of this. But if majority win was a thing in US they would vote (like most countries do) and keep the extremists out.
