Ukraine has just hit a Russian ferry - the "Conro Trader" - carrying 30 fuel railway tanks in the port of Kavkaz (not far from the Crimean bridge). The explosion was massive. It has now sunk - and was the last remaining ferry capable of transporting fuel tanks.

Your continued in depth coverage of Ukraine another "hot spots" around the world is a beacon of light for those of us out of harm's way but within electronic range of your reporting. Excellent look back at the horrors of the mid-90's as a reminder that humans continue to act out of greed, dominance, and false strength....this is who we are but not all of what we are as Dominic and Hamish so clearly spoke about in this report. Hamish de Bretton Gordon is spot on and agree his Forces News interview, class act, good work. Intriguing question for HDBG, can he please as an experienced expert explain fallout? Tactical Nuclear Weapons are not going to have a roll, which Russian forces are Nuclear trained, equipped and ready to roll? May we have an update on teargas? And its use in Ukraine, what has been the counter action against gas? This podcast is being posted quickly. The team are getting faster at posting these on KZbin and it’s appreciated.

Fallout isn't that difficult to explain. Modern "H bombs" make negligible radioactive by-products because designers want to use up all the radioactive material in making the most boom, so fallout doesn't happen in airburst strikes (where it's a kilometer-ish above the ground to stretch the blast over the widest area). Only in strikes at ground level (to remove hardened bunkers) does the explosion scoop up dirt from the area, which falls hours later as fallout.
@robertsteele474
@robertsteele474 Ай бұрын
@@sammiller6631 A nuclear weapon detonated in the air, called an air burst, produces less fallout than a comparable explosion near the ground. A nuclear explosion in which the fireball touches the ground pulls soil and other materials into the cloud and neutron activates it before it falls back to the ground. An air burst produces a relatively small amount of the highly radioactive heavy metal components of the device itself.

I think Dom touches on a way to beat Russia, they are recruiting and training new soldiers at the same rate they are losing them. This is a balance system, one-in one-out. Now, developing the frontline and stretching the Ruskies past their paper thin margins to maintain an operating army to the point that soldiers production is less than soldiers loss. The house of cards could collapse (suddenly?)

No mention of a biggest Russian rocket and drone attack over night which wiped electricity and water supplies across entire country and wiped all airfields across Ukranian territory. gas storage facility was hit again in West Ukraine. Total failure of Ukrainian air defence and no sign of new western aircrafts. Plus not a word about massive Russian advance on front line in Donbass area, where Ukrainian defence collapsed allowing the fastest Russian advancement since 2022.

This is completely out of date. Many of the strong political and economic figures of India come from the caste that in the past was considered untouchable. There is though a severe prejudice against anybody of the Muslim faith, despite most of their military being composed of those very same Muslims. India is not an autocratic state, at least not yet, modi though is trying to move it towards that fascist future. Currently India's democracy works at about the same level as Americas democracy, in other words they're called a flawed democracy (deficient democracy) it might even be getting close to anocratic, which United States is very perilously close to becoming, so they are in good company

@@marcm. What an absurd statement. The army of India doesn't even have 5% Muslim soldiers. 3-4% are the highest evaluations. And there is a prejudice against Muslims because just like in the rest of the world they are the ones trying to push their religion via violence. Islam has by far the most violent offenders in the name of their religions. Bias and prejudice sometimes are rooted in reality. This won't change because at least until now the Muslim world is incapable of change

Regarding the actions by NATO in Kosovo: I am harboring the idea of an international policing policy. Once it has been decided (2/3s majority, no vetos by the secutity council members!) that something bad is happening, every nation has the right to intervene on behalf of the victim(s). This might be a deterrent that keeps some adventurous heads of state having ideas. Of course the problems lie in the details. Like misuse of '#bad things', political majorities as seen in condemning Russia's invasion, nuclear deterrents etc. But with this idea there might be more peace. The UN with its current setup and requirements obviously don't do it as originally intended. German thoughts.

My friend who lives in Armenia, Yerevan specifically, and I, who visit Armenia all the time, both doubt that the current government of Armenia would agree to expatriate any Russian to Russia except if that Russian has been proven a z patriot. But obviously, countries do not have morals they have national self-interest. I just don't see what Russia could give Armenia that would convince Armenia after the total let down of the last 3 years. There isn't an Armenian that I know of, who trusts Russia to keep its word, and therefore I don't see how there could ever be a deal that would benefit Russia at the expense of even individuals that have no other power Of course I could be just hearing what the Armenians want me to hear, because they think that's what I want to hear, but I don't think that's the case. If Armenia thought that Georgia was not going to go Kremlin on them, I think Armenia would have left all ties to Russia by now. But they know just like anybody in Georgia knows, that the owner of the dream party is a Kremlin stooge, and into its clear that he does not have the power to move Georgia towards the Kremlin, Armenia is pretty much stuck because all they have on their borders would be enemies

Again another fascinating episode. Just an observation Russia was not in a position to intervene against Nato in Bosnia and Nato felt to be on ground. At the time of the Syrian conflict and of course currently, Nato is somewhat worried about Putin's apparent power international influence and strength and thus is deterred. But Nato made a big mistake at the start of Putin's Ukraine invasion. First in 1914 and more recently in 2022. It it gad showed its teeth and stood firm and called Putin's bluff he probably would have not moved over the border. Afterall he always had his fallback position that he had no intention to invade and that his troops were only involved in training exercises. Nato turned was shown to be a big powerful dog but too frightened to call Putin's hand.

Ukrainian troops received orders to enter Russia’s Kursk Region and show their presence in several villages, a captured Ukrainian serviceman said in a video provided by the Russian Defense Ministry. "We gathered in the forest on the territory of the Sumy Region, then set out on our way. We were accompanied by a technical supply officer to the Kursk Region border, where we were met by a political officer. He was in charge of the convoy. He said: ‘Follow me, quickly break through, show your presence and leave, because there will be more destinations. We need to show up at them all.’ The mission of our group was to march, make a deception maneuver, as if there were a lot of us there, ride around these villages. To show ourselves well, like we are normal people, like we are polite," said the serviceman, identified only by his first name, Igor. He and his fellow soldiers rode three armored personnel carriers to a settlement where they immediately came under fire from Russian soldiers. "I don't know, maybe we were sent there to do a reconnaissance-in-force operation because this happens a lot. We had barely got in, when the shooting started. The APC was hit, I fell out, it caught fire. I crawled away, and ran off with the driver. I realized that it was an ambush," the soldier said.
