If Putin's logic is that Ukraine isn't a real country and it's populated by "little russians" then there can be no satisfying him with a negotiated settlement. The announcement of a Rus Union follows in this same logic that Moscow should rule all these slavic areas. That includes the Baltics, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, and Slovakia. Ukraine isn't the end...it's the beginning.

What is interesting about this water pipe that never got built is that I remember very clearly on Russian TV a big thing being done about how there would be a pipeline for both fuel and another pipeline for water built with the Kerch bridge. In fact so much was done about that that I was still convinced that it had actually happened when I saw the fire happening on the bridge, thinking that it was actually the pipeline that didn't exist that was on fire...

I found the infomation about water supplies most interesting and was news to me. This is a very valuable background information as to why Putin re-started the war. Like he held the gas supplies while Ukraine is sitting on the water tap. He wanted to get out of this stranglehood. This to me gives the root cause for this war a new twist. As everybody wonders why Putin invests so much (his own future if I get that right) in this war. From the westerner's view he had no real reason except for the enchroachment of democracy. But as long as he stays in power uncontestedly Poland, Lithuania, Lettland and Estonia all have not really put a challenge to Russia. Had he done like China, bread and games as the Romans used to say, no one would contest his power. So he was completely safe. Trying to solve a minor problem seem to has turned into a forest fire.

The Putine regime has had significant success in castrating the Russian man. What is left are 'damsels in distress', cowering before two 1.5m tall tyrants, cowering in neighboring states, cowering in their trenches. There are hopeful signs that a growing number of men who have saved their cajones by finding refuge in Ukraine are now banding together to rescue 'mother Russia' from Freddie Kruger and his monsters in the Kremlin. Also hopeful is that intellectuals in support of Western values - The Rule of Law; basic human rights (freedom of speech, liberty, pursuit of happiness); will begin to engage and educate the general public to desire personal freedoms. In any case, the current regime and its machinery must be utterly destroyed, burned and its ashes sifted through for any sign of survival, then burned again, then deposited into the mouth of an active volcano. @driver. Read right. 14000 is the accepted number of ethnic Russians slaughtered by the Ukrainians since the yanks installed Zelenski. That's one of the reasons Putin had to move to protect them. That and NATO taking over Ukraine despite agreements not to. That and the ten years NATO spent training and arming Ukraine up to the teeth in order to take Russia on to satisfy the pentagon. In reality Russians are attacking Ukrainian weapons depots and army barracks while Zelenskyy is attacking residential buildings with anti-aircraft missiles with long expired shelf life. Zelenskyy already hit Poland, Romania (a jet and a chopper were downed, 8 servicemen killed), Moldova, Belarus, numerous residential buildings and at least two children’s playgrounds inside Ukraine with these missiles. Western missiles which are sent there are also with either expired shelf life or very close to expiration date. It’s mindboggling how many buildings were hit and civilians killed (including two hapless polish farmers) with this ongoing criminal lunacy of Zelenskyy regime. The chance of downing Russian missile is negligible in comparison with a risk of an accident with numerous civilian casualties. To give weapons to this war criminal Zelenskyy is like giving matches and gasoline to a serial arsonist.
