Telemania DM-51-001 Cat Telephone | Initial Checkout

The initial checkout of a Telemania cat telephone model DM-51-001. This telephone was purchased new by my grandmother many years ago, I remember seeing it around for as long as I can remember. I used to use it at my grandparents' house a long time ago, then we stopped using it, I think it was because it didn't always hang up properly.

I have a similar model to this, except it’s a Mallard Duck. It quacked when it rang. I wonder if they ever made a Goose model?

That's possibly the weirdest phone I've seen in awhile (Telemania was apparently known for making weird novelty phones)... there's also a duck phone that quacks like a duck and which eyes light up red when it rings. It seems the market for novelty phones (other than Western Electric 500 and Princess replicas, as well as reproduction payphones) has dwindled over the years (having peaked in the '80's). I wish Telemania was still around, as they made really cool phones.
