Telemark ski moguls Part 2 - How to slow down

This is my best telemark tips on how to master telemark skiing in the bumps. Take each moguls has an opportunity to slow down.
1. slipping, learn to shed speed on back of moguls
2. pivot, spend the least amount of time in the fall line with quick pivots.
3. absorb, absorbing the moguls will slow you down and keep you balanced.

I’ve discovered that my favorite way to slow down in moguls is option #4. When I’m running firmer bumps that aren’t super steep, I like to charge. But if I get off balance or misjudge a transition and need to dump speed quickly, I will carve my way across the *front* of the next bump. It feels really smooth if you get it just right, and slows you more than slipping on the back of the mogul. And if you can manage to link two turns like this (it’s tricky, trust me) you dump a surprising amount of speed (if you really nail it, you can almost “hover” for a second), which you can use to regain balance and composure, scope out the next couple turns, and drop back into the trough.
