I’d like to know more about how you made the fan. It appears you also move the primary mirror further in? I have an xt8, and have heard Orion doesn’t Offer a fan anymore

I bought a carbon fiber sheet, 2mm thick, and used my jigsaw with a blade made for cutting carbon fiber. I than drilled a small hole for a 5.5mm DC-plug and mounted that as well. The carbon fiber sheet is attached with magnets to some regular 90 degree angle fittings which is bolted to the inside of the telescope tube. I did mounted my mirror further in, as when i recorded this video had an focuser with a too long draw tube. I now have the correct focuser (1,5" version) and have the mirror mounted in the middle position as it should be. /Daniel

I searched on Amazon (i do not use amazon my self that much) but could not find anything as you say - maybe ordering directly from catseye collimation is an option? (US) The have several different kinds of center marks (i use white hotspot) If you order - also order the templete for mounting the mark. /Daniel

Thank you for uploading. I got the chance to see a rocket launch in 2018. Memorable experience. I shared a pretty cool video of the journey to my channel.

I attempted to clean a mirror using what I thought was acetone. It turned out to be nail polish remover and contained lanolin in addition to the acetone. Removing the lanolin is maddingly difficult.
@ExoPhotography14 жыл бұрын
I have made that blunder my self, not on a mirror but nail polish can be really tricky some times. Isopropyl alcohol is the best for optics, nothing but pure alcohol :)

@@ExoPhotography1 AGREE! I was going to suggest that but you've got it. Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!

If you have a 3d printer you can make a template to fit snug to the primary circumference without the need for steady hands and a sheet of clear film guide. I made one for my measly 5" primary and took no more than a minute to center it.
@ExoPhotography12 жыл бұрын
Good idea! I’ll have to source a huge 3D-printer though ;)

Great video, purchased the catseye and going to try to add the hotspot to my scope. What song was that when you removed the mirror from the scope?
@ExoPhotography13 жыл бұрын
You won't be dissapointed with that type of collimation, i can asure you :) I can't remember what song it is, it was included with Filmora editing software, but I am using Adobe now and have uninstalled filmora :/

Great vide but The template you used seems quite complicated to line up IMO I just drew a circle the same diameter as my primary and cut out a cardboard template with an exact small hole in the middle and stuck a small self adhesive paper blank on the mirror using the template as a guide. simple no problem works fine. and because I used a thick piece of cardboard the template didn’t touch the main mirror surface.
@ExoPhotography14 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a neat sulotion! It is how ever quite easy to line up, no hassle at all, but is performed best with two persons for sure =)

Hi, well, if you wan't to image planets - I would suggest a ZWO 120 color camera. It is cheap and good entry level camera. If you also wan't to image deep sky objects like nebulas or galaxies, you "need" a cooled version like the ASI 183 MC Hope this makes things easier for you :)
