One time I was attending a concert by some local philharmonic when they played " The Estudiantina waltz " a lovely tune, made even better when those in attendance began to sing! " My Beer is Rheingold the dry beer..." Had an appreciation for Émile Waldteufel, Paul Lacôme, and Julien de Lau Lusignan ever since....

Most of these mass marketed beers are history. Don't see Schlitz, Burgermeister, Hamm's. Falstaff, Stroh's, Blatz and regionals like Jax, Brew 102, San Francisco's Regal Pale, Eastside Old Tap Lager and those great Northern brews.

I've been looking for this one (late 1960s or early 1970s). It shows a father talking to his (off-camera) son: Dad: "Son, sometimes we as we go through life..." Son: "Aw, Pop! Not another lecture..." Dad: "OK, I'll get to the point. Son, when you go out with your friends, do you ever...drink beer?" Son: "Aw, Pop!...." Dad: "Son, now just be honest with me! DO YOU DRINK BEER?" Son: "Of course I drink beer, Pop! (Walks into camera view.) I'm twenty-nine years old!" Dad: "OK, son. I just want to make sure you're drinking GOOD beer..."

It's crazy but as a teenager, we would buy Pabst for 1.50 a 6 pack, and it's disgusting, but now kids will kill for that piss. Hamms piss beer. Shlitz was popular beer until the early 70s. The blacks liked Colt45 and all the other malt liquor.
