The Television Talk Show: Kathie Lee and Frank Gifford (w/Barbara Walters)

Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford appeared on a Barbara Walters ABC Special on November 24, 1992. This video clip is from that special.
Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford both shared the same birthdate (23 years apart, as is noted in this video) - August 16th. As tribute to the Giffords who have had a great impact on the television medium, and the upcoming celebration of the date of their birth, we present here on Television Vanguard this video tribute. Mr. Gifford passed away almost one year ago, on August 9, 2015.
Frank Gifford worked for ABC television for decades, including his work on ABC's NFL Monday Night Football from 1971 to 1998. That show built the foundation for weekly NFL television network broadcasts that are a key today to the financial success of both the broadcast television/cable networks, as well as the NFL and the NFL players' union.
Gifford also worked on the ABC Wide World of Sports weekend series throughout the 1970s and into the 1980s, as well as ABC's telecast of the Winter Olympics during this timeframe. He was both a collegiate All-American football star at USC, and a professional NFL player on the New York Giants from 1952 to 1964 (missing the 1961 season due to injury) and became an NFL Hall of Fame player and helped lead the New York Giants to the world championship. His post-football career path lead to his career in broadcasting. Both careers allowed Frank to reach the pinnacle of success in both fields: Football/Sports and Sports Network Broadcast Television.
Kathie Lee Gifford's path to television stardom was equally circuitous, as noted in this video clip. Her career path lead to ABC, and a stint at Good Morning America, where she met Frank Gifford, who was doing a guest host visit. She joined Regis Philbin on his talk show 'Live', which was produced for the local New York market by ABC, in 1985. The show went into national syndication in 1988, turning both Philbin and Gifford into household names and television stars.
Kathie Lee starred on 'Live' from 1985 until her departure from the show in 2000. She returned to daytime television with NBC in the third hour of The Today Show in 2008, a position she currently holds and was awarded an Emmy (her first after numerous nominations for 'Live!')

They were happy and loved each other. #RIP Frank. In the end Frank was Brutally honest about the thought of their 23 age difference and how he felt about them starting a Family. Kathy tried to Sugar Coat it and answer for him, but he jumped in and told the truth. Glad he gave their marriage and fatherhood again a chance.

I never forgot how Kathie Lee and Frank Gifford did an infomercial about how to keep romance in your marriage and to have a happy marriage. It was shortly after that aired that Gifford's affair came to light. Gifford kept saying that he had been "entrapped" into cheating. This was ridiculous since nobody put a "gun to his head" to cheat. I don't think their marriage was as idyllic as she bragged about every day on "Live".
