@The Wildcard Has Arrived Actually, I identified him as "the tall one with the pretty hair." Gay men have a tradition of renaming random people in their field of view (especially at the gym, the office and don't get me started on apartment complex neighbors). Come to think of it, straight men do it too, particularly to noteworthy females. It must be a defect of the Y chromosome... and I'm making no apologies.

@N W Z Oh please, if you want to figure out your sexuality, do it on your own. It is selfish and immature to want to drag someone else down with you The tall guy had every right to react the way he did. He knew what he wanted and refuse to be treated like a dirty dark secret. The only coward is the short one for refusing to come to terms with his sexuality. He wanted to be "Friends"? what a load of crap. Being a closet case is an individual's problem. And you know what you must do in the real world when faced with a problem, DEAL WITH IT. Not cry like a little baby and expect people to be ok with being treated like an afterthought.

Very enlightening film. The confusion and uncertainty guys go through especially the young ones is truly heartbreaking. Throughout the years raising my children I can't count the number of my children's friends whom I have held tightly, tears streaming down their face as they struggled to "come out" to me that they were gay or they were HIV/aids positive and their parents had disowned them and they had no place to go or, sit in the hospital trying to comfort a kid dying of aids with no family at his side. I have 2 girls and one boy and they all have gay and lesbian friends that have known since childhood. I joined a gay church with a friend if mine that was a member. That was a grand experience. Every color, every LGBTQ, were welcome there and looked after each other. If so-called straight people would understand the pain their child or friend or neighbor was going through I really believe they would understand that God made us! Who would just decide one day they wanted to be "different" and be bullied, made fun of, hated, jailed, beaten or killed just to be noticed?? There is NO CHOICE in what we will feel and who we will love. STOP please and think about the harm you do to God's creation!

Thanks, Dave for your comment. Perhaps I will write it on my timeline and send it to the public. In the meantime be yourself. Don't worry about what anybody thinks about you. It's your life and you know we aren't promised one more day so, live and love whoever you want to. If you could find a gay church that might be a benefit for you. Gay churches are totally different than the hypocritical straight churches. We had a drag show several times and it was amazing! There is strength in numbers. You stand tall and be yourself.Love yourself Because God made you and loves you and God don't make any junk. Take care of yourself, Dave.

Thank you for your kind words. I wish I could be there for you and everyone who is going through what you and thousands of others are facing each day. I don't know where you are but I am in the United States. In Florida. Your words made me feel so good inside. Most of the time I just feel sort of old and useless but, I guess I do have a good heart. Perhaps it is because I can identify with the old and the young .Especially the older who I think to suffer the most ridicule and hurt. Believe me, when you live your life the way society wants you to later, you look back (alone) and regret the choices you made and what could have been and the person you might have loved. Don't ever put yourself in that position! The hardest thing for me is waking up in the morning and wanting to say something, feel a hand in yours or just a human touch. I'm sorry to ramble but I just don't want others to end up alone and empty. If you want to keep in touch I will give you my email address and that would make us a little closer. No pressure, just if you feel the need to talk.y email is unodati.z1@gmail.com Be happy!

I swear, sometimes these short films make me feel way more than a two hour long drama. It felt a little rough in the beginning but as it gained traction and more of the story unfolded, what was revealed was much deeper than expected and far too relatable. Neither of them is in the wrong, they're just in different places at the moment and that's why I think the ending was fitting. The ending song was a nice, emotional touch. Like one last stab to the heart.

No one lives "happily ever after", 05Suno8! Life is a journey and a process that usually includes as much sadness as joy. 'Happily ever after' just means they stay together through thick and thin, and in the end, maybe ... just maybe ... there has been 1% more joy than sadness. If so, it has been a successful HEA story. If not, they just die as is, because they've lived the process and the journey EITHER way. That's life!

I've been in a relationship with a closet case for the last 10 years, he's no closer to telling anyone except his gay friends. At least in my case he's absolutely sure of his orientation, but this idea people seem to have that time and patience is all someone really needs is deeply, deeply flawed. Don't get me wrong, I love to see happy endings but I loved this ending because it was the best thing for both people involved in the long run. Sticking with someone who refuses to be honest, especially to the point that they involve other people in it (the girl) is NOT healthy, and coming out is hard enough without dragging someone else along for the ride.

Well for one, I wouldn't have to worry about which people I could and couldn't have my ring on around. It would also be nice to be able to spend the holidays with him when he goes to his parents' house. I wouldn't mind having someone who knew I existed in his family in case he dies either. You know, small trivial stuff like that.

Do you ever wish your mate would come out or would you be ok with them being in the closet 10 more years?
@kjohns5139
@kjohns5139 5 жыл бұрын
Being so deeply in the closet is emotionally and physiologically unhealthy...both for you him and for you, and especially for your relationship. HONESTY is the bases for relationship...not just honesty among yourselves, but who you are as a couple in society...among friends, family, and acquaintances. You see, I've just separated after a year of chaos from a guy I really love, and I believe he loves me. But at 51 years old, he still retreats to the closet every time he thinks he's being seen as gay. Each time, I get the dirty end of the stick, and the brunt of the conflict. I'm made to feel like we are doing something wrong. I feel like i'm sneaking around behind friends and family's back. It all makes me feel a shame and guilt that is truly unfounded on my part. So, i've painfully ended it, because I just can't stand it anymore. I'm out and proud, of me, of us. But I now know he will never be proud of himself or us; whether it's 1 year or 10. I know nothing will change. He'll never have the courage to be who he is. And in that, I will always remain his shameful little secret. I deserve more than that. I want a man, not a child. I want a man of integrity, honesty, courage, fortitude, and pride...of which he'll never be. So I've spent the last 3 weeks crying myself to sleep, missing him so much. However, I know, in the long run, I've done the right thing, the best thing. I even hoped ending it would shake him up, make him think twice, and sort it out... and maybe cause him to man-up and come out. But rather, I haven't heard from him in three weeks,; since he returned to his home in Spain. No calls, no emails, no text, no messenger, not even an old fashioned letter. I'm left to assume he has gone even deeper into his closet. And as for me...well I just gave a year of love and commitment for nothing but pain. Sorry for the sad story, but I hope others will not make the mistake I've made.

I loved this short. Great job. I’ve been working through deep rooted internalized homophobia for literally 15 years. I truly empathize with the character who’s struggling with his sexuality. I’ve turned a corner more recently with this and am grateful, but it’s so many layers. Love and compassion for our LGBTQ family is vital. So many of us are tormented as children within multiple systems which then translates to unconscious self torment as adults- obviously this can go for anyone- but it’s so rampant in our community. We too can experience true love, intimacy, and belonging. Keep searching.

Sad to see two people who seem to like each other cannot pursue their relationship because of different pressures from society facing them. Ours is an evolving society of being gay despite legal acceptance and probably there is a need for greater tolerance and time in understanding each other. Two persons liking each other as shown by the final kiss is something to be treasured.

Damian is a gem to be treasured. Beautiful, with his clear eyed conviction, honesty and dignity. He won't allow himself to be played. And that gorgeous hair. Matt is a fool and a coward ... and not resolving his inner conflicts in order to hold on to Damian will be a regret that will stay with him a long time. Really LOVE this short film. In a little over 7 minutes, it delivers a powerful message with a great script and great acting by two appealing young actors. Realistic, relatable, unpretentious. No showboating like other filmmakers ... whose desire to show how creative or clever they are is often at the expense of clean, clear, great storytelling. Less is more. Have watched this many times. It is on the MUST rewatch list. And the song No Bad Deed (the song is incorrectly listed as No Good Deed in the credit) by Winter City is outstanding. Already on repeat on the audio player. What a find. Thank you to all involved in bringing this jewel of a short film to life. It should be the standard by which other short films are measured. It accomplishes in about 7 minutes what others at 10 times its length cannot. Would love to see a follow-up, covering Matt's emotional growth and his relationship with Damian, his first love.

as a story? rather poignant & melancholy. as a film? wonderful. the two leads have the chemistry that makes the ending especially sad. they are good enough at their craft to convey the earnestness each character has for why the situation ends the way it does, and all with a very bare minimum of back-story. a very sad, and very good film.

Society puts us in a situation where it's difficult for some to be who they wanted to be, to love who they want to love. I have had this kind of issue when I was younger. But now things have changed. Many of these comments state how little empathy some people feel for the closeted guy. The fact is you never know exactly why someone is closeted. Most are there because they are in emotional pain, from upbringing, how they have been treated, or they just can't understand their own feelings. Regardless of the reason, they are in pain, and they hate the way that being there hurts others that they care about, and they just don't know how to get out. Nearly all of us have been there at some point. It is sad how after leaving many of us forget how to have empathy for those still there.

The strength of feeling in the comments is evidence of the chord the film has struck among many. It’s also testimony to the accurate realism in Agostino Leone’s script and the faithful rendition of it by his actors. Production values are first class all the way round, btw. Director Leone gives equal attention to those who cannot escape the closet and those who live openly outside it; the irreconcilable and eventually corrosive conflict comes from those who have feelings for each other from either side of that divide.

Loved the acting, and the way it played out. coming to terms with ones sexuality is difficult for sure but when one is confident and sure it gives one hope that the leap of truth is well worth it. loved Damien---his strength and honesty--not to mention how handsome ---riveting for sure!!!! great film, hoping there is a sequel to this!!

And I really thought the lighting and photography was superb. This quality is rare in these short films. And I did really like the story and acting as well. A rare treat in this genre.

Particularly well done from the plot to the acting, into the directing. I was sad about how it end but will say it was a beautiful ending, sometime you have to do something you may not want to do to avoid getting your heart broken, I understand that. Love how good it was for a short film.

Interesting comments, on the film, the sharing of, commenting on and/or observations of our own or another's experience as it may relate to the subject matter. Bigger and signifanctly mention worthy is the civility of the comments from the participants herein, making it a truly positive experience. On another note, as a short film the end is not necessarily so, though likely waiting further down the road. Both guys were being totally honest and even though struggling to find a place of comfort to exist, the less than completely out guy hoped to find some sympathetic companionship without understanding how needs of a relationship goes both ways. It may end here, it may have a different path taken than either expect. All variables exist to effectively end their story or postpone to a later date and time. Where ever it goes, for the sake of this episode, we`re really left with the thoughtul and emotionally provoking story, short as presented, formwise complete. Maybe upon seeing this, someone may well be stronger internally to know when to walk away, for the sake of their own peace of mind? This was a brilliant shortfilm.

Exellent production values, cinematography and editing. The actors are most talented. And the script is well written and engaging. Great natural dialogue. And more important. There is no high-spirited and unambiguous message screamed into the spectator's head.

This is extremely well acted and while sad because while the two clearly like each other, the closeted guy is clearly able to come out without risking homelessness or something similarly catastrophic, but doesn’t have the courage to do so. Thus, I feel like the out one is clearly right to walk away from the budding relationship. I like the important point this movie portrays!

The best thing to do is leave. Too much drama. Don't settle for someone who isn't 100% out and comfortable with themselves. It's a ticking time bomb.
