Nadir Temur no why would you want to know, be careful looking for something that’s none of your business: you may not like what you find out and she’s entitled to privacy. Her past, as is yours is your past, mistakes would have been made

CrescentSuns&Stars I’m confused, did he not just say it is okay to reveal these sins? “I was with a girl before, but I’m past that” so honesty>exposing sins?? Ive heard this is not allowed like you said

it seems from the example he gave of the woman asking the man, that it is a natural part of being close to someone to want to know about their past. I have no clue, but Im assuming that if she can ask, so can he, and she has the choice to close to conversation. allahu a3lam.

Why are people asking these kinds of questions to others anyway? These are haram questions. Just state that you do not want someone who has committed zina and then the person should know that they cannot marry you if they have. Khalas! I used to smoke weed as a teenager. My 'fiance' asked me if I ever smoked weed....I was was the time. I told her "I do not smoke". She asked again. I replied, *I AM NOT A SMOKER.* khalas! Where the hell do people get off feeling that this is important? Just state what you do not want instead of asking if the other person is what you don't want.

Agreed akhi, I believe there is a fourth option the honourable ustadh forgot to mention which is telling the truth without revealing your sin and being vague. For example, if someone asks 'have you been with a girl before' and your situation is that you have, but not until later in your life and for most of your life you were straight. The fourth option could be to say something like "I've always been a shy person and have at many times in my life been close to those kinds of evil but it didn't happen. I am not perfect but Allah has protected me from that, alhamdulilah." Here you haven't made any absolute statements such as 'no' or 'yes' and everything you have said is honest and you have kept your sin as secret as possible all at the same time. I am not saying this is the best option as I'm not a person of a knowledge to be giving fatawah but I know this is mentioned on islamqa as an option for a question regarding a similar issue about revealing sins in general and Allahu tabaraka wa ta'aala surely knows best.

@@user-ze9tj9yj4t I think it's just bad etiquette to have such audacity to ask someone a question like that. It's no different to asking someone if they're a whore or a serial killer or have they ever sold themselves for money or engaged in a homosexual act. How and why people ask these questions floors me and we need to make it widely known that they're inappropriate and rude. No one should ever reveal their sin and this just makes it necessary to lie.

@@greentooth3097 agreed. the father of a potential bride asked me this once and I was stumped. Idk why anyone would ask this but it happens.

@@greentooth3097 they have the right to know! In a marriage stuff like this can cause major problems even if you repented from it. Like the man said in the video if you want happiness be honest. Some scholars say that yes your sins should never be revealed at all even if asked lie about it etc. but from what I have seen those marriages built on lies always break ! Because Allah is watching. And Lying about something is also a sin so you either sin or sin. A honest sin is better then a sin with a lie. I know a man who was talking to this girl and he asked if she was a virgin or not and she said yes (because she had zina in the past and repented from it). But because she lied about her virginity tho she repented from it allah exposed her sin so badly that everyone knew she had affairs…. So this should tell us that Allah does not like us being dishonest. And remember the prophet said a Muslim cannot be a liar ! And here we are lying about our body count because of another religious issue about Allah concealing our faults so you are stuck. I have talked to some ulama about this issue and they say we don’t reveal our sins to anyone but if things are serious between you and a potential spouse you should say it based off how the brother said it in the video. If the logic of committing sins and then repenting and not telling anyone about your sins stays in a marriage it can open the doors for zina because people will have sex while being married, repent from it and then not tell anyone. Or I can say how would you like it if I slept with your wife couple times and then we bother repented and buried it in our hearts and never told anyone? Would you be ok with that ? According the the logic of people who say “don’t tell your future spouse about your zina in the past, yes it’s ok because it’s the past! Not knowing their past can also be their future “and we examined their pasts to know what their future was” Conclusion. If there is a potential spouse and the family or spouse asks about your past tell them ! If not Allah will tell them Wallahi he will . Because I have seen it
