Yep, they're great. If you want some more very special and instructional flights, checkout Guido Warnecke's old vids ferry-flying Citations, Mooneys and even a Skylane trans-Atlantic! He was honored by the FAA as a pilot to emulate, and he started flying later in life.

Great views of the mountains. Telluride is home to the mother of all jeep trails called Black Bear Pass which I did last summer. Scared the bejezus out of myself but it was a blast. Amazon sells black microfiber clothes that, when placed on the glare shield, eliminate reflections on the windscreen. Works like a champ in my little Cessna too. Thanks for the great video.

Love the approach into San Antonio thank you ! That’s my old home town if you want to call it that. Those Mansions you guys we’re talking about are called the The Dominions in Northern San Antonio and from what I understand George Strait residents there. Short story I grew up near there in the 60s, 70s and 80s and remember aircraft flying by all the time (yes a little older). Thanks for fly by over my family’s old house. Loved it !

If you ever get the chance to be there in the fall, see if you can get your hands on a Jeep (or Landcruiser) and go to Telluride via Black Bear Pass from the Million Dollar Highway (Highway from Durango / Silverton to Ouray). A lesser but still fun trail off of 550 (MDH) is Ophir Pass. Typically they are closed from first snow to July. I'm usually up there in October (for the fall color). You can also go north-ish from the Telluride airport on Last Dollar Road, loop back north through Ouray (gorgeous little town that fills up in the summer and is wonderfully empty in October), and then come back over Black Bear Pass. That'll eat up a day but it'll be glorious . Now back to the video. A lot of those nice houses on the final approach were probably "Eagle Ford" houses (oil boom)
@gregmink
@gregmink 6 жыл бұрын
Those are great trails. I'll have to google Eagle Ford. Those were some monster house.
@MichaelLloyd
@MichaelLloyd 6 жыл бұрын
Eagle Ford shale is the name of the formation that caused the oil boom from 2008 to 2014. It's mispronounced Eagleford a lot. There was a building frenzy out there for about 6 years and then oil prices tanked and that was the end of that.

*Mr. Premier:* Unlike the nose prints I always encounter when I sit window seat on commercial flights, I always appreciate and enjoy looking out of the Beechcraft's squeaky-clean windows. The quality cameras (and their angles) performed flawlessly in capturing the Telluride airport mountain backdrop, the taxiway bumps and other Colorado views that were simply magnificent. However, there was something significant missing from this flight. After watching it over and over again, I was finally able to pin point the missing link... *The Hitchhiker!* :)

Out of the hundreds of hours of aviation videos I've watched over the past 8 months or so, Telluride is #1 in scenery, whether it's an approach (most amazing one, BAR NONE!) or a takeoff! That place is like another planet compared to where I live (no comparison, lol). Wow, that traffic on the 1604! I thought we had it pretty bad here in MA, but the Western states beat us out in that respect. But, we win hands down, when it comes to discourtesy ... 😁 Got a big house story for you, since I heard you guys commenting on the Estates, Heights, and Forests there ... When I was living in Phoenix 19 years ago, a fellow classmate was doing security detail at a house being built on it's own private mountain. Turns out, it was the grandson's house of the founder of Campbell's soup! Let me tell you .. I have NEVER seen a place so spectacular in all my life. From the kitchen, you could see 40 miles out in 120° of view. Were rectangular windows maybe 6" apart from each other, from floor to ceiling, about 12' tall. The front doors were 20' tall, and the stairway started out at least 25' wide in an arc, and narrowed as it got close to those massive twin doors. A hallway with 15' ceilings, and glass from floor to ceiling on each wall went over the in-ground pool, which went around the back side of the house in an arc. I would imagine while swimming, you'd have the same view as from the kitchen, only with a MUCH wider field of view. Through the unfinished ceiling was a bundle of wires 8" thick! At that time, I couldn't even comprehend what all that could've been used for. On the Fourth of July, 1999, we sat on the roof, and watched fireworks displays at roughly 20 different communities around the valley in 180° of view. Was the most unbelievable thing I've ever seen in my life! Of course, the police showed up when they saw a '86 Grand Marquis parked out front with MA plates. 😂 I knew it was just a matter of time. Can't blame them at all, really. I'd be suspicious of me back then too! 😁 Great video, as always, Greg. LOVE them!! God bless.
