I found this video because i've always fantasized about having a home that was at the bottom of a lake and wondered what temperature it would be naturally. Would it stay permanently cool? Well obviously it would be cool ;) but I mean as far as the temperature. What prompted this idea is the fact my property has a little lake that was once a quarry of some sort and i've seen other quarries that are still in use nearby that look like just huge fields of flat ground dug into the earth and I just imagine building a waterproof home down there, then filling it with water. Having glass walls and ceiling to see the fish and such, I think it would be very neat.

Yes! Definitely cool and 😎. Water is an amazing temperature regulator. That’s why our coastal areas experience smaller changes in temp than inland areas.

First of all I will thank You in a name of scientific resercher - discipline of hydrology called karstology! So delighted to see this valuable presentation. The careful and extensive study of the water temperature - in this section of the ocean. Well-organized and scientific analyses are given! In our land called Croatia the karst of Dinaric are presented in generall most of all near Adriatic sea called "Jadransko more". The karst, for expample springs, have its natural path for the groundwater to the surface of the lito sfere through the karst mass. Also in the karst we devided three causes influencing the variability of the water temperature. First the soil and air temperature during rainfall that can lead to seasonal variations. Second-when the spring reaches through a fissures system completely filled with water and the external air temperature affect the water temperature through caves or surface layer of Ston as well as soil, and the third but not the least because two more we research, the possibility of frequent. Now we must input velocity as well as green passive modeling. I mention springs as an exp. because our country is full of springs like permanentn, intermittent, hidden, rhythmic, sublacustrin, estevalls springs; vruljas (international word that we are proud of), estevalls i. c. BUT - we don't have ocean for structural researching. THANK YOU FOR YOURS BENEFIT! 👏👌

Why does the bottom of a lake not freeze in severe winter even when the surface is all frozen?
@asterkipnis80533 жыл бұрын
Would this mean that you'd get greater mixing of water from different depths in polar and temperate oceans? Also, does the thermocline shift in size in temperate oceans with the seasons, or is the change not long-lived enough to create that? In any case, thanks so much, I just discovered your channel and will be combing through your videos happily in the near future.

Could deeper oceans have warmer water

I just wonder if the bottom of the Oceans get any warmer? since they are closer to the Earth's Mantle layer or does the Earth's crust that thick, that the deepest point is still not there yet? :)

❤️😼 Excellent explanation ma'am. But your explanation is partially inaccurate wrt polar thermocline as there'll be slight dip in the curve in beginning & then imcurve turns right & later follows a straight line!

This is all wrong because it’s about 1000° as you get closer to the core in the mantle.

Hi Becky- While you’re correct that the mantle is hot, this is a temperature profile of the ocean.

@@EarthExplained Could you please discuss how the ground gets hotter and hotter the deeper you go? I meant to say that at 1000 m the temperature exceeds 113° and gets hotter and hotter the deeper you go.

Scientists have little knowledge in explaining. They take too long to explain little things.
