I don't use anything. I don't have glass in the back. And gorilla glass in the front should be enough to prevent scratches and breaking. Some scratches will eventually happen. You can use a scratch guard to maybe protect it. But I think, most phones fall at an edge and that impact is transferred to the glass, which is why it breaks. If tempered glass could save it from breaking, wouldn't manufacturers themselves use it as the front glass panel? Both gorilla and tempered glass are probably only good at a perpendicular sort of impact. That's why they survived the hammer test.
