It's not often that I see a newcomer to the franchise (and this game in particular) engage so deeply with the story. I love how the more targets you hunt, the less you take them at face value. You noticed their patterns and the connection between them, and most importantly, you started to question the very nature of everything.

Btw, the guy you killed in Acre, William of Montferrat. He was a real person, but he wasn't killed by the Assassins in real life. However, his son, Conrad of Montferrat, (Who's mentioned in the game) was killed by the Assassins in 1192, about a year after the game takes place. Although William did die in 1191, the same year as the game is set. Just some cool history for you.

I actually can't believe this Playthrough is as good as it is, i genuinely can't express how much i appreciate this. Not only did you not skip the first game (which is something that people just do unfortunately) but you're also paying great attention to the narrative as a whole, not just the ancestor storyline but the modern day too (which is another thing that has always been incredibly underappreciated)

True, unfortunately lately games had this trend of focusing almost entitely on the past (not even an ancestor but a random person at times) and leaving the present just as a mean to access the past and not as an integral part of the narration...

Yeah, I get the feeling that people go into these games really just looking for a historical drama and end up with this very odd sci-fi story instead that puts them off. IMO Assassins Creed was really shaping up to be one of the best sci-fi games in history but the peoples demands wound up outweighing the creators intent.

While AC1's gameplay was clunky and its mission design (especially when it comes to enemies noticing you and how long it takes them to give up the chase) can be rather poor, it has one of my favorite stories in the franchise. The bad guys aren't mustache twirling bad guys, and the main character experiences a lot of character growth. This and AC4, I feel, have the best stories.

The problem with streaming is that people sometimes tend to try to educate you by spoiling like they did on Batman, in the AC series especially from the first few games to AC3 it's important to pay attention to clues on the story and other things, the mistery is part of the charm of the series and if you take the risk of people spoiling the surprises this can affect your enjoyment. The more recent games, from 2017 to 2020 are the ones you can actually stream because they're more friendly to streaming.(you will know when you get there, but please keep this in mind the whole way through.)

Assassin's Creed lore is really cool as an alternate history setting of our world, using real events and historical figures of that time.. Don't worry it gets real nutty later on as you play through the series. I cant wait to see how you react to the story as you theory craft and see the changes and reveals, as that is what the AC community is all about. Those who know are excited, and those who don't are along for the ride. Each game is very much connected, like a huge complex web...at least for a while...

I’m loving this series so far!! If I can make a suggestion regarding the streaming for ACII… my opinion is that you should definitely not stream ANY of this series 😅 The stories in each game are so deep and layered and you do such a wonderful job of immersing yourself in it and dissecting the events, characters and philosophies. Having a bunch of people interrupting and distracting with silly comments and jokes would ruin it. Or worse, the people that try and control the way you organically interact with the game. Maybe it’s my own bias because I hate watching playthroughs that are streamed because the player ends up spending half the time talking to the chat and not playing the game 😅 Bottom line is, everyone who comes to watch these videos come to see you, I doubt many are interested in the randomers who would watch you streaming 😂 Much love and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! ❤ ✌️

It's very useful when trying to lose guards, just jump of a building in the direction of a haystack/wagon and he will go into leap of faith animation. You can do this in all of the games. Many things you learn in AC1 will be useful in the other games.

I’m loving that she is putting a lot of thought into the story and philosophy of the game. Most people just understand the basics: assassins want peace through human free will; templars want peace through subjugation. But they don’t put too much thought into each of the target characters. P.s. the guy at 1:19:57 is all like “R.I.P. brother: you dead.” And then gives him a smooch.

A quick tip: you can try fighting with your hidden blade. The enemies you counterattack with your hb will be killed instantly, and you can also instantly kill distracted enemies, ie when they are waving their hands and boasting, or cowering (basically, when their swords are not in a defensive position). But you won't be able to deflect with your hb in this game (gets changed from the next game onwards), so if you don't counterattack, you'll just get hit. But do try experimenting with it. Also experiment with the parkour a little bit, especially stuff like side eject and back eject. Loving your playthroughs! Edit: idk if you know this or not, but canonically it is explained as a fault of the primitive animus, that it desynchs when swimming, and the later improved animus' thus can simulate swimming.

Great to see you enjoying the game Meg! So, here's some interesting lore that many players don't know. This info is from a prequel game on iOS called AC:Altair's Chronicles (has been removed from App store, though it's probably on Nintendo DS). But, the biggest reason why Altair seemed to act arrogantly, and breaks all 3 tenets is because in the game I mentioned, he tries to flee the ongoing war and live peacefully with his wife Adha. But she's murdered by Templars as they believe she could stop the Third Crusade. So, he kills everyone involved, and no one in the Assassin's brotherhood even knew that he had a wife. So, the long and short of it, events of the prequel game cause him to lose faith in Assassins. Though as is apparent from his tone in this game now, he seems to be regaining faith slowly. There's one reference to Adha in AC1, during Abu'l Nuqoud (first target you assassinated this video) investigation. One Assassin informant offhandedly asks about Adha, but Altair doesn't reply, and the informant just assumes that she's still missing. Unfortunately, you didn't do that investigation, so missed out on that.

Another episode yes! And 2 Hours! 😯 *Quick Tip:* You can switch to your hidden blade and counter kill an enemies with 1 hit everytime but using it counters kills are abit trickier than using Altair's normal sword or short blade. Also little *Fun Fact:* Altair can swim but Ubisoft couldn't program it for this game so they made it be that the Animus can't do it as its the first version of the machine. *EDIT:* You should also switch to the hidden blade when chasing a target to do a running assassination. And when falling hold the "gentle push" button to grab a ledge to break your fall and save Altair from a splatter-y death. Ps: Keep playing this series like this without streams is my preference as you can focus more on the stories and avoid spoilers.

AHHHH I LOVE SEEING YOU SPECULATE AND ENGAGE WITH THE STORY IT'S SO FUN. I can't wait to see your reactions to more of the story and its reveals :D Also some extra tips that'll help with your playthrough! -When you need to run past a bunch of people and you don't wanna bump into them while wobbling, just hold the gentle push button while jogging/sprinting, it'll shove people aside. -When a guard on a rooftop sees you, but hasn't started shooting at you yet, and you want to kill him with the hidden blade, you GOTTA run/sprint at him while assassinating him; Just walking towards him massively increases the odds of him deciding to shoot you anyways or averting your hidden blade strike. -I've noticed you kept falling off ledges because of guards knocking you off, and you can actually mitigate that! You can catch a handhold while falling by holding the gentle push button; You recently unlocked that ability, which is called Catch Ledge. -When in combat, it's highly recommended to be proactive while fighting instead of just waiting for a counter kill opportunity. You can instantly kill guards if you time your sword strikes right (Called a Combo Kill), which also gives you extra health when you instantly kill them from it! -Also when it comes to dodging in combat, it's exactly like counter killing, except it's with the blend/pray button instead of the attack button. It's pretty useful if you're getting overwhelmed and want a brief moment to get your bearings.

It's unhealthy and stressful for the players too. this series has been so great! i’ve loved getting to see you enjoy this game for the first time and i rarely see someone who clicks with it so well on the first go! I can’t wait for your reaction on the ending of the game. this is truly one of the greatest franchises in gaming.

Remember you can kill stealthily with throwing knives, you can make those archer assassination missions much easier for yourself that way. And you really want to make it a habit to pickpocket knives whenever you have the opportunity, they are useful in many situations.

Duude! -- you're making this more difficult, you should help at least some of the citizens, so that they create clouds of vigilantes to help you escape from the guards.... Seems like you're still struggling with the controls somewhat. Don't forget to loot the thugs (dudes with the leather satches on their asses) - creep up behind them and picpocket go refill your throwing knives.

It's so cool seeing someone go into AC truly unspoiled - I had thought that some of the coolest reveals from the first handful of games have been so thoroughly spread around by now that it was impossible to still expect anyone to go into the games not knowing, for example, about the Templars. But I'm glad you managed it, because these were the moments that made me fall in love with the series initially and stick with it even when the games lost some of that charm for me.

I find it better if the AC2 playthrough is a no-stream that way you can focus more on the game and not have to look at chat and game at the same time. Plus I prefer these shorter edited videos than long streams. But you do you Meg! This is just my opinion

I am enjoying this AC 1 playthrough. #4: black flag was my first full AC game as a free download, though I knew of the others. It does make sense for gameplay that he's downgraded then has to climb back up. Kind of similar in other games I played, black flag, Valhalla, origins.

If it helps you focus more on the story of the games I'd be fine with you not streaming them and just recording them. I believe nothing should take away from paying attention to the story in the assassin's creed games in my opinion.

Lol what an unstereotypical anticlimactic end to the best and highest viewpoint in Acre and the whole game... If you do get up there its also hard to jump perfectly in the right direction to leap into the hay

Pitching in on streaming AC2 and beyond: I'd love to see a series on KZbin instead of just stream VODs. But maybe a combo of both can be done? And then edit some stream sections into a video for KZbin?

The streaming thing. It's obviously up to you and what you prefer doing is what you should go with. Me personally feel like narrative driven single player movie like games are not good streaming games and make for a subpar youtube playthrough due to how intrusive live chat inherently is. What I can see working is if the streamer has all live chat sounds turned off and doesn't engage with chat while actively playing and takes breaks when feeling like he/she should engage with chat. These breaks are then edited out for the youtube playthrough. This is how you can stream and make sure that the youtube playthrough can still flow in a decent way. This suggestion that I am making takes effort I get it and the whole point with uploading stream as youtube videos is that it's convenient and effortless. I'm just saying how it can work for both venues. I personally would probably lose interest if it was stream uploads, It's just not my thing. I don't like watching streams and I have never engaged in a live chat. But some people like it so in the end like I said you should go with what you prefer.

You got better at this game, and it's interesting to see you questioning your actions :) I don't know if you heard of it, but between AC1 and 2 they released a PSP game called AC Bloodlines, I don't know if you intend to play it, but maybe you should read a summary of it or something, because its story is very interesting, I know it's a bit early, but I don't know how far ahead of this game you are, so I prefer to warn you now ^^ also they made a prequel DS game named Altaïr's Chronicles about a younger and less pretentious Altaïr :)

so here are few advices: you can assasinate with hidden blade for while running you don't need to smash them with sword, those big guys that you can fist fight you can also pick pocket them to get throwing knifes, when you are falling like you one that highest view point you can can grab on the ladge by pressing that same button like gentle push I don't know what it is on pc, when you are hanging on the wall you can do back eject from the wall by holding run (high profil) button and then pressing blend button you can also do side eject from the wall the same way back you must chose the direction you want to jump, on large group of enemies is better to use dagger not sword it is fasters, when you are on roofs look for pigeons nest on edges of roofs because there is always haybale that you can leap in to, those blue dots on minimap are hideing spots
