I LOVE this SOUND !! EXACTLY the chimes I heard as a boy whenever I visited my grandparents in Lincoln, NE and heard them playing from the Old Main building's tower on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus a few blocks away. INSTANTLY brings back great memories. Wish I could build a computer clock to play THESE in my home.

There are various digital chronobells out there but I’m not aware which one to get for green hill/emerald hill career center service which it is part of person center services and penta career center but university or local community collage and schools 🏫 I was gonna order from Maas Rowe for the clock tower with full cycle colors and such with atlas and toa and unipex horn speakers.

Why are you so fixated on the TOA brand? TOA only has a 5 year warranty on their electronics. The amplifier systems which Maas-Rowe uses has an 8 year warranty. The Chronobell and Digital Chronobell (I, III, III) are Registered Trademarks of Maas-Rowe Carillons. The current Maas-Rowe Carillon product is the Bellwether which is a touch screen system. *Maas-Rowe Carillons Bellwether* kzbin.info/www/bejne/anWnlpuQh7dmodU *Bellwether, Connecting Drawer Cables* kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKmziKuvfa2jgdU *The Maas-Rowe Bellwether Countertop 19" Rack System* kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6q7YqCQaJxgi8k

@@DandyDon1 well i was thinking if toa can output the carillon bells like this one so if they can hear the electronic chimes clearly though so I couldn't find viacom or older one since atlas rebranded some.

are those real bells or are they electric bells?
@DandyDon1

If you mean cast bells, no. It's an electro-mechanical tone generation system. Rods manufactured from bell metal, bent and ground with the correct even temperament partials. The sounds are then amplified for playing either indoors or outdoors. Here is a short video of the mechanical Tone Generator at Balboa Park in San Diego California. *Maas-Rowe carillon: Close-up of the chimes inside the California Tower at Balboa Park in San Diego* kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWS3n52ClNOJsJI

is the thin rods like in a grandfather clock?
@colinthepanamerican
@colinthepanamerican 4 жыл бұрын
yes it does, but the hammers are not to the side of next to the thin metal rods, they are below the thing metal rods, and they are bent in a shape like a letter L
@DandyDon1
@DandyDon1 4 жыл бұрын
@@colinthepanamerican More accurately the bell rods are bent at both ends, and sections are ground out along the length to tune the partials/harmonics.

Timekeeper of all of Temple City. What caused the chronobell system to fall silent initially?

To try and give some history as it was explained to me. Three pastors ago at Temple SDA, I was called out to service the church's Johannus organ. At the time I remember hearing the chimes play, and seeing what equipment was there, but thinking it didn't sound quite right, in that it didn't sound like a Maas-Rowe Carillon. I remembered seeing a personal computer there, and thought it must have software which played the real struck rods of the Maas-Rowe tone generator, but still didn't sound right. I only heard single notes played not the 2-note, 3-note combinations which Maas-Rowe originally designed. At some point before I was called to service the organ, the Maas-Rowe Controller and hymn player were removed (why is still a mystery), only leaving the equipment rack, audio amplifier and the original Maas-Rowe tone generator. Unknown to me at the time the Personal Computer installed at the time was operating a small program which played "pre-recorded" of bell tones. The next pastor who was at the church was a real "do-it" kind of person. He maintained the PC running the bell software, and was very good at allowing me to keep the organ in good repair. We had discussed the bells, and he then explained that that it used software which played the pre-recorded bell tones. I was in the process of trying to find a good used Maas-Rowe controller to restore the system to original. The pastor at the time was very positive with the prospect. Time went by and the project came to a stand still, until about 6 months ago. The pastor I knew and worked with had left the church. I still had his contact information. I contacted him as I now had everything needed. The bells again fell silent when the damaged conduit which contains the loudspeaker wiring (installed long before 1985) in the tower filled with water. What I suspect was a section of original rubber insulated wiring in this conduit was dry-rotting. It was explained to me a few months that the sound was distorted before the audio amplifier quit. The amplifier has circuit protection and it tripped, causing the system to fall completely silent. The church had been raising money to repair the carillon equipment. The pastor I knew provided a contact at the church to move the project forward. In December of 2015 I was there and discussed the repairs which were needed as it was originally installed in 1985. I brought a electrical contractor to bid on extending newer conduit which T-Mobile installed for this purpose when Cell Tower equipment was added to the tower. The electrician I worked extended the newer existing conduit to inside the tower and where the Maas-Rowe equipment is located. I installed the replacement equipment, took care of the wiring, programming testing etc. With the help of the previous pastor, the contact at the church who had interests in the carillon system and the current pastor. June of 2016 the bells began playing again.

It is great to know that the folks along East Live Oak Street between Baldwin and TC Boulevards get to hear the bells 7 days a week from 9a-6p. BTW, what is the range or radius that the bells can be heard emulating from the church?
@DandyDon1
@DandyDon1 8 жыл бұрын
I do not know in this case. Claims from another manufacturer with high power output electronic carillon systems can be heard up to a 1/3 mile radius.

Not exactly. The bell rods which Maas-Rowe refers to as "tiny bells" are made from cast bell metal, and have bent ends. Indentations are ground by hand in the bell metal to produce additional partials and/or "harmonics". Two examples here: *2:00** Maas Rowe Westminster Chime + Console View w/ Peal - Grace Lutheran Church - San Diego, CA* kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3-kmZh9odqSZsU *Maas-Rowe carillon: Close-up of the chimes inside the California Tower at Balboa Park in San Diego* kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWS3n52ClNOJsJI Which is why they sound very different from plain cut rods.
