I remember moving between Civ2 and 3. The auto-build road was much welcome, but still not what had been suggested, at least not fully. I remember emailing Sid Meier sound 1998, just at what amounted to their “suggestion box” for the game. I said something like: “Hey, an auto-road build would be great, please please please, and made it so that we can set up the road to be built, and then let the settler and engineer go until it’s done.” Basically a multi-turn road build. Seemingly simple. But no, we got this.

The rogue settler bug seems like something that happened to me in a game a couple weeks ago where a worker walked a million tiles north before I realized he was going nowhere. It was very early expansion so theres no way I automated or didnt notice a misclick. Idk what happened.

ToA start with SC follow up is great with low luxury environment. In your second start you had 5 lux fairly close to secure them all, which nullifies the reason to go for ToA strat in the first place. Guess it's just very situational, although the fact that it works not just on a single continent is nice.

49:35 I only play single player, but I'm glad I see you do this to correct mistakes - in my last game I decided to attack an AI but then it turned out he had 10 Knights waiting for my 3 Impi, so that didn't go so well. I didn't save the game, so when I get back to it, I can reload to before I declare war on them, lol

Also, watching this made me realise something about city sizes. A size 1 means 10-29k, with every wheat in storage being 1k pop.

Yes. The population counter in f8 actually counts how full the box is. I use this in multiplayer to tell how many agricultural opponents spawn with fresh water :)

It's a graphical mod intended for multiplayer games. So that you can easily communicate location to a teammate. Let me know if you'd like a download link.

@@moz7491 If you have even land compared to an opponent on emperor and manage your economy well (republic, luxuries, markets, no buildings you don't need, all tile improvements, no unit support) you will have similar science to the AI. Emperor makes the techs cost 70% as much for the AI, and good management closes that gap. Then you force them into a war, they collapse into fascism, slave away all their citizens, and you go to Alpha Centauri.

Interesting strat that i had never managed to pull of. Temple of Artemis was too expensive for me to risk and Polytheism too low priority. It's usually last or almost last Ancient tech i take (the other is construction). My usual strat is expand-rush rush rush-Republic and no wonders till medieval.

There's not really much to say. There's almost no depth to the combat system which creates depth everywhere else. Just have more units and better units and you'll win.

How does chain-slaving work? I've never seen it before.

The game won't let you slave away more than half your citizens. But if you break it into smaller chunks it basically will. So normally to slave an 80 shield building you'd need 8 citizens, but you can do it with 5 using chain slaving. Unhappiness and loss of citizens is the same though.

Hey Suede Im having a real problem with Demigod. It seems like If my Cap is remotely good the other civs just send warriors at it to block me working land. I even tried Greece with double Hopkites on my Cap and still I have to end EVERY turn kicking out warriors so I can work my cow or wines or w/e. They eventually declare war after like 10 or so kickouts and its slows expansions to a detriment and I give up and load up an Emp game. And its not just aggressive Civs. Also, I play Pangea almost exclusively. Is my land just too good for the AI to ignore? What causes this

I really dunno what you're talking about here. The ai won't hang out in your land just to fuck with you. They are indifferent to national borders. So, they won't let borders stop them from doing something they want (settling a city, killing barbs, fighting an enemy ai) but they also won't mess with you intentionally. So to stop them, address the root issue. Want them to stop trying to kill barbs on the other side of your land? Create a wall so they can't path through. Or kill the barbs yourself.

In terms of tier list they're fine. But they're kind of unfun. No effort no res GA, defensive UU, industrious in case you get pillaged, and then cheese boating with seafaring. Still lightyears better than Greece for the mod though.

@@suedeciviii7142 not that there anything wrong with a stack of swordsmen protected by hoplites coupled with 1 turn library savings for score. Did I mention alpha start for philo race? No bad ancient civs I guess, even Hittites playable with a popped settler.

@@micheldesormeau6828 Hittites are way better than Greece, and way more fun for the metagame than Carthage. Exp/Ind is a really good trait pair.

Man I just had a elite spearman escorting a settler die to a barbarian without even damaging it. Then I had 1-hp warrior kill 2 barbarian horseman attacks and a barbarian warrior attack without taking ANY damage 1:12:47 1:13:20 Why did you do it twice? Just to flex on montezuma how cheap you are?
