Right on. Plumb lines were definitely the first tool humans used to find level for building.

I love plumb bobs. Have a small collection. First saw it used when I was about 10 years old, watching a garage go up in my neighborhood. Such a simple, elegant, and elemental tool. Have used one many times on home projects such as decks and interior partitions.
