@@WovenSpade there’s actually another video also that Scott was writing on paper and he was imitating it. Might have been a snap chat or one of the videos all the members would post on their channel when they were first starting out. I think it’s been added in a funny moments compilation and he’s actually imitating it better than he did in the superfruit video since he was doing multiple sounds of the pen.

I just rewatched your reaction to this. Lady GaGa is indeed phenomenal, she's written so many songs that seem light on the surface but are actually really deep when you look below that. Born This Way had kinda been adopted as the LGBTQ+ anthem of the day (at least among those I know in my small corner of the LGBTQ+ community). But while a lot of people acknowledge her as an amazing advocate a lot of people call her an ally and seem to have missed that she's openly bisexual* herself, IDK how it seemingly was missed by many but she's talked about it in interviews going way back. And has even talked about bisexual erasure too. If you've not seen the recordings from her Jazz & Piano residency in Vegas then you should check them out. The recordings I saw her voice wasn't at 100% or at least what we've known it to be, I guess (not sure if recordings exist where it's sounding stronger), not that I think she sounds bad, her voice just sounds either kinda tired or as if she were getting over a cold or something. So, IDK if she'd been ill or if it was fatigue as I believe she also has Fibromylagia (a condition that causes widespread chronic pain and fatigue, something I have myself and I'm constantly in awe over how she keeps going). And Idk at what stage of the residency/what kind of schedule she kept with the shows or how long for. Anyway, in between songs she dropped in little comments and anecdotes here and there too, like how Bad Romance was written about being in love with her best friend, and how Poker Face is about hiding your sexuality. The way she's rearranged her songs to fit the jazz theme was so cool & well done; I've heard Born This Way hundreds of times over the years and in various different settings, it's never once choked me up with tears the way it did watching that (and her stage exit after was iconic). I also thought she was also incredibly funny. Her outfits are...interesting, as you might well expect lol. [*I assume she still identifies as bi, people sometimes adjust the label feel most comfortable with as they grow and understand themselves better; but she's definitely not straight, put it that way.]

Superfruit has an album of original music called Future Friends, in addition to their medlies. The whole album is terrific. Fun, catchy wonderful songs that I've heard others say remind them of a prince type sound. Definitely a throwback awesome sound. There is a video for all but one of the songs. Most start with Guy.exe. The video is hysterical!

When I first started watching these Superfruit live medleys, I kept trying to figure out who was playing the piano. Then I realized it must be Scott but looking at the video he definitely wasn't playing it live. So, they worked out the medley, with Scott playing, then recorded the piano. Now they are singing live to a recorded piano, with the beat constantly changing, pauses, etc., and coming in perfectly, with the piano and with each other, without even having to look at each other. As a singer that is mindboggling to me. We've all been in groups where people can't come in together even with a live accompanist and a conductor.

As someone said, Mitch matched Rihanna on the Anti album medley amazingly too... but if you want pure vocal gymnastics you should do the Beyoncé (self-titled album) medley. The Empire Medley is also one of the prettiest things they put out and stands up regardless of whether you've ever watched the show or are familiar with the songs. Then there's also the Taylor Swift 1989 album medley and Miley Cyrus Evolution. But as everyone said, you should also check out Superfruit's originals. 16 of them, 15 have videos. They're maybe not exactly right for the singing review aspect of the channel because they are produced, synth-heavy dance... but Hurry Up, at least, had a live performance on The Late Late show that is floating around. I see people requesting Hip-Hop Goes Broadway 1&2 and I'm not sure that's right for this channel. I mean, you can certainly comment on the singing... but the entire point of the very short medleys is to get a giggle and be awed at how they put (now dated) Hip-Hop lyrics to Broadway tunes. If you aren't familiar with Nicki Minaj, Lil John and Kanye type stuff it's a little less funny, too.

Some Superfruit suggestions for you: “The Promise” “Guy.Exe” “The Anti Medley (Rihanna)” “Beyoncé medley” “Defying Gravity” For something fun, you can’t go wrong with “Hip Hop Goes Broadway Parts 1 & 2”, where they take hip hop songs and turn them into Broadway songs. Also, there’s almost always bloopers at the end of their videos. Worth the wait!

speaking of Mitch’s ability to match tone, you can hear it a lot in PTX’s “Evolution of Rihanna” as well. I swear that the entire track sounds just like Rihanna to me, tone and all, especially when Mitch is singing. this was such a great analysis of an already stellar performance by Superfruit. please do their Hip Hop Goes Broadway 1&2 and don’t forget to stick around for the bloopers at the end for some laughs! 😃

You can't go wrong with Superfruit. They have done live tours. There are some videos of KZbin of their tour. One thing to keep in mind, a lot of Superfruit's stuff is more risque than PTX. All of Superfruit's evolutions are awesome, as it their Empire Medley (songs from the first season the t.v. show Empire). Fox actually commissioned them to do the medley as an ad for season 2.

If you stick around after their credits, you'll often see how much they crack each other up & how hard it can be to get all the way through some times. It's especially evident in the bloopers on on Hip Hop Goes Broadway (parts 1 & 2), so if you haven't checked them out yet, I would highly recommend them, they're awesome. They did release an album of original songs together called Future Friends (it was originally 2 EPs, iirc that then released as an album). I seem to remember they did a tour, and I think they performed at Pride too, maybe 2017 or 18. I agree, they are both insanely talented... all the members of PTX are, and they all have their own unique voice too. With most bands they often have a weak(er) member (or 2), but with PTX you don't get that, they all have their moments to shine. What I love about Mitch, Scott & Kirstie, is they've sung together so much that they can play their voices together perfectly, like they notnonly know how best to fill & support the other's voices, but there are times when you'll almost see them go from harmony, come into line & blend together on the same notes, they'll pass the lead to another seamlessly, then separate back to the harmony having swapped parts. And there are at least a couple of songs where they do it and it takes a few seconds for your brain to register that they've changed over because they cans perfectly synch their voices if they want to. This is most often seen when someone can't tell if it's Mitch or Kirstie up high, but Scott can definitely do it too. Scott, is quite the vocal chameleon in fact. You see it at times where he can just flip a switch and his voice pushes front and centre, the lead swaps and he can either keep on harmonising with his obvious tone and the riffs & runs he does, or he can melt his voice so far back you wouldn't know it beas him if you don't see him singing it. And it's not just good sound techs because they've done it live back when it was just the 5 of them with cheap equipment in a cupboard in Avi & Kev's apartment. The more obvious times are when he takes over the bass from Avi or Matt when they take the front (so like in Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, and You're a Mean One Mr Grinch). But I spotted him doing it really obviously in one of the evolution vids you covered on Tonic Tues, but he also does it when he's melting back to allow Mitch or Kirstie to show their voice off. He has a phenomenal talent & his control is amazing, but I really love it when he just let's loose like in Dog Days, I feel like he doesn't do it as much anymore, but maybe he does on tour, I expect it's not sustainable for tour because with tour you're doing several shows a week for months. I imaginenit would mess your voice up pretty quick.

Second - they released a lot of original music as Superfruit, toured, etc. obviously they aren’t a cappella, and they tend to be much more ‘adult’ in some of their language, but the music is phenomenal. Please check out Rise (a collab with friends that is stunning), and Defying Gravity (example of great vocals and ridiculousness).

Mitch and Scott started a weekly comedy channel as they traveled around with PTX. They lived together in those early days. Most of the time they were hilarious But sometimes they sang and it’s epic. Sometimes they had guests. (Shosanna Bean, Tyler Oakley, Toddrick Hall. ) Ok Superfruit became so popular that they then wrote an original Superfruit album with a video for each song. They are pure awesome, every video is fantastic They went on one tour as Superfruit and preformed at LA Pride. Honestly some of the funny episodes are hysterical. Mitch loves. lady GaGa. Their “Anti Medley” of Rihanna’s Anti album is amazing, Empire Medley is also fantastic And they rewrote Nicki. Minaji and Beyoncé s. Feelin Myself. It’s a must watch Oh. 😂 Mitch's ability to mimic caught me off guard a few times when 1st getting to know PTX. In some of their songs they have him match Kirstin to great effect as 1 of them is backup to the other & also when they switch between the 2 of them doing lead. In one song, they even change places in the middle of a line instead of the end, & the 1st time you hear that song it takes til the end of that line for it to hit you that it's a different voice.

Superfruit have done dozens of amazing videos. A few of my favorites are: Empire Medley, Riahanna Anti Medley and Beyonce. PTX also did an Evolution of Beyonce video, but SF's video was from one of her albums called Lemonade. Same with Riahanna. SF also did two videos with Kirstie, their Frozen Medley and La La Land. If you like to listen to more Lady-Gaga-esc things, try out Paint's "Movie Villain Medley". He uses only Lady Gaga songs to tell you about movie villains like The Joker and Darth Vader. The quality is not the best (yet) but it is hilarious and in my opinion pretty good. If you like Disney, look at his "After Ever After" series. Love them.

They were roommates starting out the same way Avi and Kevin were after the Sing-Off. (Kirstin lucked out as the only woman and got her own place.) The band even talked about the living arrangements in an interview they did for Love Again as it touched on how that original song was written by Avi and Kevin. Love Again + interview with living/writing arrangements. I didn't care for Lady Gaga at first - but that was the sensationalism - especially in her videos and in the news - that turned me off and it kept me from really paying attention to her music. Once I got over myself and started LISTENING, I realized what a spectacular musician she was and Superfruit and PTX helped to further cement my appreciation. She is fantastic!
