i was diagnosed with ADHD and an auditory processing disorder as well as destructive behaviour disorder as a child. im 26 now and only recently started having seizures and the doctors diagnosed me with temporal lobe seizures and believe my initial diagnosis as a child was incorrect. its incredible what impact this has had on my life without me even realizing it and just blaming my zoning out, my inability to focus and my memory loss issues on my ADHD when all along its been a combination of the two.

I am so happy I came across this. It’s all life changing for me. I have autoimmune encephalitis and have ongoing reoccurring episodes of zoning out during activities that require intense motor activity. Mainly dancing is what I do. And I just can’t do the dancing or keep up and I have memory problems during it. Glad I discovered this type of seizure. Had a seizure while driving yesterday. Thankfully I got into the other lane before hitting the person in front of me. Seeing my neurologist in July.

Focal seizures are a strange feeling, my focal seizure is normally a specl of light in the corner of my right eye sight that catchs attention out of the blue an hard to look away from you'd feel cold all of a sudden, 8/10 you'd come back from you'd feel your heart beat really fast a deep breath of air and life comes back to normal and feel really tired or small bite marks on the toung or you'd lose control and end up in grand mal and just be out cold on the floor or where ever you land the specl of light is normally my warning that somethings going wrong so sit down an try proper before you fall brivaracetam only stop focal onset seizures but grand mal has no warning now i just end up out cold bite marks cuts from what evers been hit on the way down. Brian surgery is not 100% to fix the problem and life after surgery is weak down one side of the body memory problems and blind in one eye doesn't feel like much of a improvement in life and meds just make it hard for apatite to sleep and give me tinsis morn day an night but the ringing in my ears is awful makes me a bit mental especially when you go round trying to hear it puts you in 2 minds is the next door neighbour or is it in your ears you can hear it over the tv Brian surgery you just have to weight up the pros and cons possibly being seizure free or having seizures and not getting up at all I've have some close calls over time like having grand mal and being out cold up against a hot radiator unconscious and you have to be happy only your arm has a scar not the side of your face witch ended up a week in a coma in intensive care i still dont no much of what happened that night its all such a strange feeling in life only once have i had gandmal and still been able to see not control eye movement just still see and feel eyes rolling witch is just horrible. I won't be having brain surgery because i can't cope with living blind but you soon get used to it all over time

Thank you for this lecture. Very informative. How do you decide whether to do the WADA test in paediatric patients? Do they just need to be cognitively able enough to participate during the test or are there other factors as to why you would/wouldn't do it in paediatric patients/teenagers
@BrainSpineGroup Жыл бұрын
Great question, yes patient cognitive development is a factor to consider

Are you chewing gum while you’re delivering this lecture? So disrespectful, at least it feels that way to this TLE patient. Talking about taking parts of people’s brains out casually chewing Hubba Bubba.
