I’m a mixer driver in Michigan and we have the same weather y’all deal with. Definitely harder to get much done but we still get out there and do what we can. Water lines freezing up is always a pain to deal with. Definitely not easy but still I find it enjoyable and satisfying 💯

Hey Mike.... I've found that if you put those mechanics 7 mil latex gloves on under your gloves it really helps with heat loss on your hands.... love the vids sir !!

Yeah Mike, you guys always kill it. Wish you had this vid out day before yesterday, we did that hay technique to insulate yesterday that i’d never done before it works. You guys might consider trying these kinco hydro flector gloves, super insulated, not too bulky, and totally water proof, theyre dam good but wear em too long for too many days and you’ll swear a dog took a crap in em. Always love collecting knowledge from you guys. Much respect

I mixed and poured the footer for my block landing at 30 degrees. I kept the bags in my basement next to the boiler until I was ready and used hot water. I guess it was too hot because it started to set up as soon as I shut the mixer off. I learned not to use such hot water. The porch next to landing had an outdoor carpet so I used that to cover up the pour and some sod on top. I would take gloves off and put then under my armpits back in the day. Even a minute or two helps. Grabbing metal tools that have been on the ground, like a digging bar that falls down, can rip your skin off if not careful. I hate freeze burns.

20f = -7 c approx ~ 7c would be about 45 f ( 0c = 32f freezing )

I would recommend latex gloves under whatever glove you like. I've raced off-road dirt bikes in cold weather and this works. Holds the heat in real well.

That yellow poly isn't cheap either, last time I looked into it, it was close to $900. Just backfilled a garage today in Massachusetts frost was 6" deep. Going to have to wait for framing then tarp doors and blow heat for a few days. Slowing down here also. Still got a few jobs left this year.

Frost is setting in on most our jobs now too.

Hey mike. Do you just add hot water or do you also add anything else to the mix like air entraining or something specific?
@MikeDayConcrete2 жыл бұрын
We add air and accelerators.

I see you don’t bring the concrete up to the ledge is that for cracking and expanding. Not a contractor but like your videos

Whats min temp you pour in?
@MikeDayConcrete2 жыл бұрын
The teens are about minimum, the trucks freeze up pretty fast below that.
