Damn I'm honestly kind of impressed for such a cheap welder. This would be perfect for the small little jobs I do around the shop. I had bought a tiny Forney stick welder from Stines for about $260. Which was actually a decent little welder and I give it to my dad as a gift. We're both lifelong welders and artists. I build some amazing things out of recycled scrap metal. Like woodstoves, rocket stoves, outdoor fire pits and sliding trap doors for trapping wild hogs. I would honestly buy and use this. I'd make a harness for it suspended from my shop ceiling to take the weight off my hands while using it. I can already think of a million things I could build with this little bastard.

At that price it's ood enough for an amateur to repair a broken spot here or there. I've got vintage metal Christmas decorations that I've had to have welded a half dozen times over the years, at $40.00 a pop. I don't know a single thing about welding but i'm definitely buying one.

It doesn't take that much to learn. It becomes a feel in your hand on how much you're pushing in and how close you are. Thicker stuff needs bigger rods and amperage turned up higher. I find mig far easier but people aren't used to the wire pushing out and can jam it all up by melting the wire to it's own out hole. So start with arc which is your basic welder. I was pulling off miracles at age 15 with one.

I use to buy Lincoln welders from Home Depot, however the last 2 or 3 welders I got were absolute garbage. They make harbor freights cheapest welder look like a high end miller. Lincoln welders only last about 3 to 6 months before they have catastrophic failures. Lincoln’s are a major waste of money. Go to harbor freight buy any of their welders and your better off.

Yeah I imagine all types of things being more battery powered. Since they have been making solid state batteries. I mean I keep a wen 40v chainsaw in my truck. When there is a possibility of a downed tree. across the road I live down. Does the job well. I could easily see a welder the size of B082DS19-140. Having a internal battery and maybe couple hours of run time. 40-50min full blast the whole time. These style of batteries have been delayed for years. John B. Goodenough design/created the solid state battery. Or he was one of them. He invented RAM. Wow that was a rant. I need a nap.

My dad got an arc welder that cost the equivalent of 60 usd from aldi to use on site when climbing as it was tiny and his welders where all eay to big to carry up ladders etc. He used that thing for a couple years roughly 6 days a month and he never once cooked it even when doing crap it shouldn't have done and now it's my welder for at home and still going strong and his much more expensive replacement isn't any better in terms of arc welding(the new one can do tig so much better overall) and it goes to show its not necessarily how much you spend. At this point I wouldn't buy a les Paul unless it's coming from a known pedigree that I've been around for years lol... They started as cheap knockoffs, got as good as almost playable replicas... More of a prop at that point but now... They're being stopped at the border as counterfeits. They're damn near perfect despite what any Gibson owner wants to say to justify their investment. But yeah they've gotten to where a lot of these temu and AliExpress products are shockingly good.

That doesnt look too bad a tool, to use just to get you out of trouble, if you need to bodge repair something away from your garage or home, and then repair it properly when you get home, or to a proper garage, with a high quality mig or tig welder. I used to do a lot of banger racing in the UK, (similar to destruction, or demolition derby in the USA) and this would work well to bodge something up to get you back out for the next race. Also being an arc welder, you can weld alsorts with the right rods. Anything from cast iron, to thin tin body panels. And because it is cheap you dont have to worrie about it getting stolen at the track. Even if it last you a year, or one race season, it is cheap enough to not worrie about the expense.

It’d be a good thing to have for trail repairs. Super compact and lightweight. Could pack it into a sxs as long as you’ve got some sort of extra onboard power. Wouldn’t use it as THE welder for work or a shop tho.

One can also buy a regular stinger rod holder and a length of cord and plug the cord into where the rod fits in the handheld. And make a clip to hold the finger switch down.

I bought a battery direct off of AliExpress and it's absolutely fine, no issues, also an old Huawei y6 Smartphone.. Maybe people just like to rag on Chinese products, if you read the labels, most stuff we buy through "better rated" retailers, supply stuff made in China... Because of the low labour cost and price markup when selling to the west If you are lucky enough to experience Made In UK or Made In USA products, I can tell you first hand, the difference is night and day ..
