Temu yarn haul...buyer beware of falsehoods

The problem with these temu yarns is that you do not know if they lie about the contents and the biggest worry is the dye they use for the yarns. That can be highly toxic. Best to stick with things that will not touch your skin.

The skeins are so small. I always wonder if they will still be cheap by the time you buy enough to make something.

They are actually clear about the fact that the balls are either 50 or 100grams, I have bought several types of yarn from them from the acrilic to cashmere and alpaca and am happy to repurchase. At the moment I have the cashmere on my needles black from temu and a burgundy from a European source that was three times the price and to be honest I'm preferring the black

Hi thanks for your review and the video. I started laughing when you said "it smells like factory" lol. I recently got "mohair" yarns (6 balls) as well as, "alpaca" yarn just to try them out. Needless to say they are not at all mohair, they're more like 100% acrylic/polyester. The alpaca yarns of 100g is not alpaca 95%, 5% polyester, it is likely 90% polyester, viscose and acrylic mix. I have alpaca 100% yarn as well as 40% alpaca 60% merino real yarn (I know these because I am in Japan, it is illegal to mislable and sell anything fake here...). I just did the burn test and they are mostly synthetic yarns. When you burn merino wool or any alpaca yarn it will burn like paper or hair, then the smell is strong of burnt animal fur (which smells wild). Temu "alpaca 95%" it actually melted. It did not smell like burning hair or animal fur. It melts and hard to crash as it is plastic. I returned and got a full refund... I highly recommend you not to get any yarn from Temu. It is dangerous for our health, in fact some of the Chinese provinces have the highest rate of cancer due to unregulated level of unregulated pollutions and chemical they use on clothes. You can get those yarns tested in the lab if you like. You may need to pay but you do know for sure they are what they said they are. The mohair yarn (yes they were pretty) smell very strong of paint thinner like smell. It is terrible actually. You say you wash your garment. You should think twice about it, since when you are knitting or crocheting with those toxic yarns with toxic dyes and processors like formaldehyde, you are absorbing carcinogens through your skin every time you touch with those yarns with fingers. That's why a tailor who processes and deals with unwashed fabric (like those who make suits professionally, my grandfather was one), they die fast of cancer as they continously absorb carcinogens through their skin and inhale toxic dust treated with carcingens. I do not recommend those. Get them from local yarn shop, and get them from local shops there. Look for sales and get them in bulk that way (balls of 10 is cheaper than getting them individually).

Thank you so much for your comment. I agree with all you said. It's sad when we can't trust something as simple as yarn but you're right. They are laden with toxic chemicals as so much that we encounter is. China is definitely a contributor

Hi Dawna, lovely haul. I must be lucky as I have bought loads of yarn from temu and it’s all been great. I’ve also had yarn that smelt worse from ice. I just let them air ( like you did with the smoker’s yarn) and it was fine x

Holy smokes, lots of yarn. Try leaving the factory perfumed yarn our in the air for a day or two and bag up in your own bags. I'm sure you'll let us know what you think of those yarns when you're working with them.
