When knitting with the cashmere yarn, you have to also use a strand of the thread, should be nylon, otherwise the cashmere will stretch too much.

I have gotten several things from Temu. I did get the cashmere yarn but haven't worked with it yet. I got a blocking board, it had no posts and was 3" x3". So read those descriptions. I bought the alpaca yarn and its lovely. Works up well, and the swatch got washed, scrubbed and beat up. No felting! Very happy with it. I got the chenille yarn and its delicate. The fuzz comes off easily and unravels at the end. 2 out of 5 for that. But it is good for something you won't handle a lot. The crochet hook set in a zippered pouch was a 5! The hooks are nice, marked in mm, it came with ALL the hooks, size 1-6 for thread and 2 mm thru an F Plus a measuring tape, scissors, yarn needles, a thimble (?) A hook measurer, and stitch markers.. Just remember to read the description!! they do have junk lurking as legit stuff.

have you tried to burn slightly the end of the "cashmere" yarn ? it's a good way to test if it's natural or synthetic. the synthetic yarn will burn black with residues. the natural yarn will simply burn with no residues at the end. this "cashmere yarn", i've tried it (it was another brand and pretty similar, also very very soft and.... full acrylic. burnt totally black as melted plastic indeed.
@Amoreyna3 ай бұрын
This is a trick I always pass on to people who want to buy mystery yarn like this. Most things advertising themselves as cashmere I just skip because it just can't be. However, I did find one that I tried, it felt like wool, burned like wool, and while probably not cashmere, was exceptionally soft and I would buy it was either high end wool passing itself off as cashmere or had a little cashmere in it. This yarn did have a higher price point, why I gave it a chance. Otherwise, anything that's a few bucks per cake/ball/skein of yarn for cashmere - you're lucky if it's wool.
@natallias99693 ай бұрын
This one seems to be some kind of wool. It burns as wool and smells of wool when wet. Very soft and stretches a lot, so that extra thread is indeed needed.

The portable yarn holder is a great idea, but the material in the one you got catches on the yarn quite a bit. There are acrylic ones that work so much nicer. I have 2 yarn spinners: a single holder like yours & a double one for when I'm using 2 colors in one project. Purchased both from Temu & LOVE them! They do release the yarn easily - sometimes a little too fast.😄 But I haven't experienced any major problems so far. Christa at The Secret Yarnery did a great review which was very helpful. You DO need to know that these spinners work best with compact skeins/balls. If the yarn is skeined up too loosely [think LionBrand's IceCream Big Scoop] it won't keep its shape once you remove the ball band. It will collapse & resemble the onion domes on Easter Orthodox churches. I speak from experience. LOL 😆. Luckily I was able to cake up the yarn & get on with my project. Other than that one issue I haven't had any other problems. But again, that was mostly a yarn issue not the spinner itself. I hope you like your spinner as much as I like mine. I'm actually thinking about searching for extra spindles, without bases, so I can have extras on hand. 🤔

Sadly most things made in China and some other countries use child labour and sweat shops. Look at the big well known high street shops that were using the sweat shops in Bangladesh that burnt down! Quite frankly we should boycott China for the barbaric and dehumanizing way they treat their people, but then we wouldn't have all our cheap products and especially tech stuff. So it is a very sad dilemma the US and UK are in, because our governments have allowed the selling off and destruction of our own manufacturing industries, so we have to rely on other bad countries!

I would say to others that you need to read the items description and mindfully discern if the item fits your quality desires. Some of their items are exact replicas or unlabeled brand products. Returns are free and easy. Have returned everything with which I was not pleased and have not experienced any problems. FYI: 1 return process (multi items) per order is free. I hope this dispels some of the skepticism out there.
@Amoreyna3 ай бұрын
Honestly, due to production and lack of oversight, I would be very worried about the chemical treatments on the yarn. Not to mention that there isn't a way to check at home to see what this yarn is even made out of. If it's a wall hanging, that's a bit better than if the yarn is going to be used in clothing. Even then, this is yarn you will be holding in bare hands without any idea of where it comes from, where it's sat, dust/particles it may have picked up along the way, etc. That's not even getting into the rip-offs occurring. Sure, the mini-yarn minder is very cheap compared to Lemonwood's which is handcrafted and well finished, but that doesn't change the fact that the design, even down to pictures/detailing, is taken from Lemonwood. I used to be a big believer in finding cheap crochet hooks for people to start with, but honestly, now, when someone asks me, I tell them to invest in a nice hook with a good handle between 5.5 to 6.5 mm and mid-yarn that won't stick to itself and go from there. Cheap crochet hooks may work, but the milling/finishing on high end hooks is always a game changer. I don't hold it against anyone though to buy gimicky hooks - I mean they aren't useful but they can be a fun display. I know I sound like a downer but there's a reason why Knit Picks costs so much more than random yarn from an unnammed factory in China. Some yarns are marked up for brand/hype but a lot of them aren't. And there are good brands out there, like Drop, that people can use to get wonderful high-quality yarns at an affordable price. And then you know what it's made out of - and can properly guage it for a project vs. hoping that the yarn without a name or label or weight or identiy can stand up over time after hours upon hours are dumped into it.

I know that I'm gonna get a lot of negative feedback by posting this, but oh well. Just rant on! I thank you for putting up this video. I started crocheting about a year ago, and it can be a very expensive hobby. I buy mostly Hobby Lobby and Temu yarn. They are affordable when on sale. And all you people saying buting from Temu is unethical? Do you still buy products from Amazon and Walmart? Have you checked the label to see where these products are made? Im finding it harder to find any product that i can afford that isnt made in China. American made is beyond my financial means. Ive bought 4 refrigerators in the last 15 years, all U.S. made, that broke within 1-3 years of purchase. Like the sing says, "everythings made to be broken". And forced labor? Has that been vetted? I have personally seen underaged, undocumented teens from Mexico working the absolutely nastiest, most dangerous jobs in our U S. Factories. Illegal women working, having to wear diapers, because they dont get bathroom breaks. And they ARE NOT paid the same amount of pay as our citizens are paid. They wirked through Covid and the bird flu, getting sick, no insurance, coming to work sick all because they couldnt get a decent job without taking risks. So please dont get on your sanctimonious high horse and tell me im unethical for buting through Temu. If our government has a problem with it, why arent they doing something about it? As far as the products bought? You need to read carefully what is being sold. Ive gotten a few things that i wasnt pleased with, and i asked for refunds when not pleased. All requested refunds were granted, many times without me having to return them. Can you honestly say that the American stores have that kind of customer service? All im saying is, dont believe everything you are told and only half of what you see. We Americans are being connec right and left by our own government, and we are too blind to see it until it slaps us in the face. I say, give me proof and ill change my mind.
@amypetty50133 ай бұрын
"Don't believe everything you are told and only half of what you see." Girl, please. It is very well documented. Spend 5 minutes on google. And your justifications are beyond idiotic. The choice is is not between "buying from Temu or American made." Nor does the fact that there are human rights abuses happening in the U.S. somehow make it okay to endorse human rights abuses elsewhere. And "if our government has a problem with it, why aren't they doing anything about it"? Well, for starters, I don't base MY ETHICS on what my government supports. I am fully capable of educating myself on the matter and making the rational choice not to spend money with a corporation like Temu. And this: "Canyou honestly say that the American stores have that kind of customer service?" WTF kind of delusional bullshit is this? Yes, there are many stores in the U.S. with this kind of customer service. You are straight up trolling to suggest that only Temu offers it. Come the fuck on.

Temu is basically buying direct from the manufacturers in China, so if you don't mind buying China made, then this is a great place to find deals on things you already get but just cutting out the middle man and retailer. That's why a lot of the products are decent quality, they already went through the QC but to maximize profit the manufacturer is selling direct to consumer. I think this is also due to companies are moving to cheaper countries as China is getting more expensive to produce.

The manufacturers are not selling direct to consumers. WTF. How do you not understand that Temu is the third-party here?! The costs are down because of human rights abuses. Child labor. Slave labor. And also, you know, an appalling lack of regulations for the QC you mention but are clearly not informed on. Many of Temu's products have been tested and found to contain toxic substances.

I got "ocular" about them, and klik, to the point that I got carried away by what I saw and the price, 'coz what I knew, about the yarns I have accummulated before, from VERITAS is that, the prices from each of their yarns, is the price of 6 to 8 yarns by temu!!! Now, I don't care if it's not wool, but, for just a "hobby", I went for it!!!! TEMU???? The bank is crying, but you gotta expect lots o' gooddies commin' like YOU don't need SANTA nymoh!!!!hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa....................TFS

So after watching your video I got intrigued I bought some stuff and then when I went to use it the quality was sub par But again their customer service handled it right however I noticed what they refunded me VS what they claim they charge was a huge difference and then when I went back to check out the full check out they had added charges please be very careful something that was only supposed to have been $5 or less I got a refund of almost 15 that's a big Friends on just one item and if you got like 20 some items and they're doing that it's gonna really add up quick

You can burn a little of the thread and see if it is hair, cotton or nylon.

In Europe, Temu has big difficulties because they have all kinds of poisonous chemicals in their items. As they do not conform to EU law, they can not sell via official shops.

You should have a look at their amigurumi kits and their Chenille yarn. I really like them.

The yarns I’ve gotten I really like and I bought a yarn “genie” I like much better than the original. It’s smaller, but I like the wood better than the plastic.

If it seems too good to be true it usually is! Here's a novel idea. Let's support indie yarn shops and high street yarn stores. Invest in quality, knowledge, people's livelihoods and your local area/community all at the same time. You can't ask temu for advice on washing your yarn, project ideas, or colours because they don't know and don't give a sh*t! Trying to save a few quid/dollars ultimately doesn't pay off when you're buying inferior products!

I appreciate your videos as Temu doesn’t give very much in the way of product description.

I bought some yarn from Temu, based on the colour and the description that it was 100% wool. Now normally I don't use 100% wool, but I was curious enough to buy a 3 pack. It felt lovely and soft in the ball, but oh my word, worked up it's horrible! It's so rough and scratchy! The ball band had no details abut weight and hook sizes so I went with a slightly large hook than I would usually use for a thinnish yarn, thinking that would give it a nice drape. All I can say is - it was cheap and quite nasty, and you get what you pay for. Never again. It was possibly the worst yarn I have ever bought,

Once you learn how to use coupons to your advantage and receive free items you'll love it more.. Dangerous though... All the small hauls add up without even realizing..lol

Why don’t you weigh the yarn?

Sadly seems deception - I also bought the Cashmere yarn thinking it WAS actually cashmere then on the label of mine it reads: 10% cashmere 50% polyester 30% viscose and 10% wool - also those thin rolls of fine thread (not sure which component they are) have to be wound with the yarn before using as they tangle horribly. But now I also see the child labour concerns so I appreciate you podcasting this info but I wont use TEMU again.

I’ve purchased several knitting accessories at temu such as metal stitch markers, “barber” cords, darning needles and I thought the quality same as buying for much more in Europe. In fact the shops here are probably getting the same products but just repackaging them fancy. Though personally I wouldn’t buy knitting needles or yarn from there just cheap accessories.

I’m a bit disappointed with shopping on Temu, but at least the first time or two was extremely cost effective 😅. And I did find some really cool things! Actually, Amazon is getting just as scrambled and screwy to shop on too. On either, I can see and feel being manipulated.🧐

I bought T-pins at Temu. They rusted and ruined the sweater I was blocking.

Temu is one of those sites that I NEVER use. The reason their stuff is priced so low is because the products have been made using child labor and/or labor that is paid little to nothing.

I didn't like the yarn holder that goes on your wrist. The yarn should be able to spin around the centre pole. I used one ages ago and that is what the yarn does it spins around that centre post. I wouldn't touch Temu with a ten foot pole. All I have seen are cheap copies of quality goods. AKA rubbish.

I do not understand why anyone would purchase anything from TEMU - first off this is Communist China so when you purchase they are have ALL your personal information. Ans the. They are well known to duplicate/copy items for. Well known companies and they also copy the actual name if the product and put it on some items that aren’t worth the room they take up! IF you think I despise companies like this one and some others, you are correct! Also, I have never and will never purchase from these companies! Remember, you always get what yiu pay for and if it’s too cheap, it probably will be exactly that - cheap crap!

TEMU also has rights to your devices that you have the app through. They are owned by the CCP. You are giving Chinese goverment your information, also forced labour and child labour items. 😢 Personally saving money is not worth the cost

Id love to see a burn test, TEMU has affordable yarn and im glad you covered them. As far as ethics, its no more ethical to buy from Walmart. People that boycott those that buy from Temu are really not understanding the full picture. Unfortunately I'll go so far as to say youre doing some good by giving these people money even if they deserve more. In their circumstances of poverty any profit means a lot. Of course this doesn't mean they deserve exploiting but boycotting companies and not giving the workers a paycheck doesn't sound like a good solution to me.
