I actually had a very positive impression after this game, even with a 0-0 draw. We looked solid and compact in the midfield and at the back. This was the type of game that we’d lose in the past. And we’re only 4 points from Arsenal and 6 from city, and they have major long term injuries. We have a young team that is growing together, we’re building something here.
@GangeloffMDАй бұрын
@@manoiumusicgames5763 yeah, and we actually beat their defence pretty comfortably on several occasions. We didn’t convert those chances and it’s obviously work in progress, Hendo put in a great shift for them too, but it felt right if frustrating.

True that Palace's formation aided our central overload. I really liked how we played with and without the ball but down to Ten Hag to make it work against other formations too.
@GangeloffMDАй бұрын
That box midfield worked like a charm. I also liked how he kept the right side wide through Mazraoui and the left through Garnacho with their respective mates coming inside. That was a very well set up game and the perfect opponent for it, a midfield overload was a must. Huge props to basically everyone bar Bruno and especially huge to Dalot, he’s very aware of the shape on the pitch and I caught him ushering his mates to get back into formation when they broke it. Future captain vibes? Edit: I forgot, someone please rein Martinez in because that two footer was the dumbest stunt I’ve seen in quite a while.

United failed to keep the box midfield for the full 90 minutes at Palace and their game dropped off badly in the second half as chance creation almost disappeared. Instead of tinkering against Twente and then Spurs, Ten Hag needs to start with thee basics for his formation and let the players do the right things, Complicating ,strategies in a team with several new players, that needs to score goals and win is bad coaching. Experimenting should only be done when you can afford for the experiment to fail.

@GangeloffMDАй бұрын
@@harrydestaffano565 I’m not sure we can attribute the end result to the box midfield system, it was in fact the reason we were so dominant in the first half and led to no less than five clear goal scoring opportunities. I’d say the experiment didn’t fail at all.

Statistics have it that Bruno lost the ball 34 times, the highest from any player this season and created 2 chances. Explain to me how your main creative player executes like that. There is a problem here. Zirkzee Amad and Ericson are technical players who need to be on the pitch. ETH just keeps making errors that are avoidable. We really played well but the manager had to give us other talking points. We need somebody who can play like Ericson but is more physical, to cover some ground and that person is not Ugarte!. When Ericson plays well... We play well in possession having possession is another form of defence. We looked tired in the 2nd half and I thought the second half wasn't good enough. Great analysis though
@delmanpronto9374Ай бұрын
BF is the most frustrating player to watch on the pitch. quite frankly he should be dropped.
@GangeloffMDАй бұрын
Can’t overplay Eriksen though.
@tersooachiatar5499Ай бұрын
@@GangeloffMD that is why I thought the Ugarte signing will have the abilities of Ericson on the ball at least so that he can rest and we can control games. Nothing against Ugarte but is that the profile we urgently needed?. If you noticed Mainoo and Ericson 2 technical players played against a very physical crystal palace midfield and dominated them. tactics and technicalities played a great role. The inverting of Dalot and movement of Ericson and Maino to form a box in the middle played a huge part but Ericson was dictating play. My issue with ETH is that fans have to speak like forever before he too finally sees it. Fans were the ones who pressured him into dropping Rashford and Substituting him, there is no pressure on him as it was before he can rotate to reduce the tension on Rashford now. Must the fans complain all season long for him to solve the Bruno issue? Must Bruno play all the games? ETH should be decisive and focused on winning games. We really played well in that 1st half, so many positives to take away we don't concede chance like we used to but ETH ruins it with subs and Bruno decisions.
@GangeloffMDАй бұрын
@@tersooachiatar5499 Dalot and Eriksen really made the team click, I agree with you on that. But we have to be realisic, we won’t have free rein of midfield against every team. Palace played right into ETH’s plan for the first half. You need an Ugarte or Palhinha to get you through rough patches, nothing wrong with that, but we need a plan B when we can’t control games like this. I say we start with converting more chances. Regarding Bruno, that’s a whole other topic that will probably deserve a standalone video by the Verdict. In short my take is that we need to work around our dependence on Bruno in training before we can apply it in practice. He’s been our most available player and the captain, it’s likely that whatever attacking patterns we have are with him in the equation. Won’t happen overnight.
@Ray_movenchyАй бұрын
I would suggest he drop off Bruno because he's off the pace then bring in Ugarte and Erikson as a ten then Bruno coming from the bench will wake him up

it is obvious this new style/structure is being introduced behind the scenes by Ruud, ruud played with a box midfield during his time at PSV, 3-2-2-3 in possession. I think this is obviously better than ETH 3-1-6.
