I agree that Erik Ten Hag had similar reputation as Ruben Amorin. The key difference is ETH had specifically said he wasn't going to implement his Ajax style of play in United. We brought in ETH to implement his beautiful style of football in Ajax and he didn't do that. Instead he tweaked Ole's system and was carried by Rashy's 22/23 purple patch to get CL football. After that season, instead of prioritizing results he wanted to implement his own style of play which was completely different what he did in Ajax.

The Glazers emphasis on money and commercial success has polluted the club to the point that no manager will ever be successful at United because of overpaid players, transfer money wastages and the loser mentality integrated in the minds of the players, the board and the fanbase who always find excuses and blame others (referees, VAR, pitch condition, the FA) instead of reflecting on their errors and weaknesses to improve, but not at all coz the money is so Goooooooood at United. Liverpool didn’t want Amorim, they felt it was too much difference between him and the squad, he plays a back 3 with a 2 in midfield, Slot was picked because he plays with a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 so it was minimum investment needed from FSG 🙄 I think most of the fanbase preferred Amorim though, I know I did, he’s a top coach.

Man United wanted a German coach in the summer, either Tuchel or Hoeness, yet they chose to keep Ten Hag anyway.
