60s fashion was so cool and chic, like people just went out and expressed themselves however they wanted, and it wasn't all dictated by corporate. Great video, dude.

I love the tailored suits The Beatles wore in those early to mid-years up to late 66/early 67. The shoes were very nice. The forms used for Beatle’s shoes are probably still in the shops they used.

My mum was a fashion designer and I grew up in Swinging London in the '60's. From Quant to Biba, you pretty much hit the fashion scene and vib as I remember as a kid just right.

I’ve always been so fascinated by 60s fashion, kind of an inspiration as well. One thing I really liked is the effect of Eastern cultural dress on western fashion (like the Beatles going to India and bringing over those pieces of traditional clothing which influenced others to wear it to their desire).

As an early-teen guy in 1960's small town USA, I can't say I miss the "way-out" 1960's. Except for the music which was fantastic. But I really liked the slim cut suits that the Beatles made popular! I had to have the stretch pants with the tiny black & grey chex! And the turtleneck sweater! And the pointy cuban-heel boots and shoes! When the bands started to go with pastel leisure suits and frothy collars (pre-Hendrix), well ... to this day they look out of place. Great video!

The Mary Quant look is probably the sexiest look of the entire 20th century. It still had that 50s class but with more modern cuts that were both revealing and form fitting. Add the mod haircut with peroxide treatment and bam. Any girl could be sexy. I also loved the Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn styles that were even classier. Burberry and houndstooth patterns are timeless

A lot of the Hippies went to consignment/used clothing shops in both America and the U.K. The Sixties were nostalgic...for times past...for the future (Star Trek)...and even for the Sixties while the Sixties were happening. I think that’s part of why 1960’s Nostalgia has been so strong during the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s and now.

That song is from their Love soundtrack, released in 2006. It's a great album, it's remixes and mashups of some of their songs, and was used for the Cirque du Soleil show. I recommend listening to the full album, it's awesome!

antiquarian or aquarian??--hmmmmm. hi! i actually never realized how similar we were in our early 80s dressing style to the 'vintage' theme of 60s exuberance. i used to LOVE vintage shopping!! i can totally relate to that thing of past cultural pastiche & btw, wtf has happened to that??? i can't stand the bright coloured, 'new new' contempo look we are all being programmed to accept is just going to be 'the way we will all dress' or 'the way we will all look' . . .

1960 wasnt too long ago really.... Buttons and zips became annoying because of how you would need a single stitch apoearance for sexy looks... Eventually no one cared about button up t shirts and zip trousers because of how they would not get a man very sweaty and women didnt care up until today . If my look of body cant be sexy then i might become a supporter of new styles that make me sexy... Underarm hair is all women need to be sexy...these fashionable types of trousers i got once made my body look horrible. but i put up with it and love the design of straw hats and fine leather underwear

They took away beauty and modesty and replaced it with pornography and filth gradually over the years. If I had learned the agenda I would have dressed differently in the 60-80’s. Although, there were many styles that had beauty, bright colors, and flattering lines. Thank God for those designers who made clothes shopping a joy at one time. Unlike the black, drab, boring and shapeless styles we see today. I’m keeping all my old clothes and will work hard to get back into them. Still I’ll take the good old days any day. Even then the clothes were still better than they are today. “Hippie culture” was a communist attempt to influence young people to embrace its degeneracy.
@papercup2517
@papercup2517 3 жыл бұрын
Perhaps I misunderstood your comment, Barbara, but no, the hippies were nothing like communists. The communists would never have allowed that sort of freedom of expression. For example, in Communist China, everyone had to wear the same outfit and hairstyle. No-one was allowed to express individuality. In the Soviet Union, young people were so desperate for the banned Western style clothing you could make a healthy profit if you managed to smuggle in a few pairs of ordinary denim jeans, which you could then sell on the black market for a small fortune. The 'free love' of the hippie movement wouldn't have been condoned either, since relationships were controlled, like everything else, by the government, especially if you were in the Communist Party. And young people certainly wouldn't have been allowed to roam around the world at will, learning from different cultures, as we did back then, on the hippie trail. They were in many ways, on opposite ends of the spectrum of personal freedom vs state control. I've been noticing recently something that seems strange to me as a non American; how many of you seem to be (forgive my bluntness, please) rather obsessed with Communism, and how often Americans make the mistake of conflating any evils or social changes they don't approve of with that political/ economic system. It seems like anyone who does anything offensive to one side or the other of politics is labelled a 'Commie'... Only the other day, a commenter (left wing, I think) claimed on YT that Russia is once again a Communist state, or heading that way, purely on the basis that Putin is clearly corrupt and has manipulated himself into pretty much the top job for life. Oh, and he'd once been nice to some schoolkid athletes whose parents belonged to the Communist Party. I don't think this commenter quite grasped the concept of the right wing authoritarian dictator! :-) (The moral of this story may be that while Communism - at least as practised by anyone, so far - is a pretty bad idea, not every bad idea/politician/random person is Communist.)
