Verse 3 in a day in the life was specifically about this... I saw a film today oh boy the English army had just won the war The crowd of people turned away But I just had to look Having read the book During the filming of this movie Lennon was given a pair of glasses. It is ironic that they shot the Abbey Road cover photo outside the studio for the sake of convenience, but it turned out to be one of the most iconic cover photos in history. It is also ironic that the medley was a collection of incomplete unrelated songs that somehow came together brilliantly.

1:37: "Then one day I said, “I’ve got it!” I don’t know how I thought of it. “"Abbey Road"! It’s the studio we’re in!”" - Wait a moment, but the studio was not yet named as "Abbey Road" at that time! Regarding the guitar solo "battle" at The End, I love to read Jonathan Gould's take: "Paul opens with a characteristically fluid and melodically balanced line that sounds a high A before snaking an octave down the scale; George responds by soaring to an even higher D and sustaining it for half a bar before descending in syncopated pairs of 16th notes; John then picks upon the pattern of George's 16ths with a series of choppy thirds that hammer relentlessly on the second and flattened seventh degrees of the scale. The second time through, Paul answers John's bluesy flattened 7ths with bluesy minor thirds and then proceeds to echo George's earlier line, spiraling up to that same high D; George responds with some minor thirds of his own, while mimicking the choppy rhythm of John's part; John then drops two octaves to unleash a growling single-note line. On this final two-bar solo, Paul plays almost nothing but minor thirds and flattened sevenths in a herky-jerky rhythm that ends with a sudden plunge to a low A; George then reaches for the stars with a steeply ascending line that is pitched an octave above any notes heard so far; and John finishes with a string of insistent and heavily distorted 4ths, phrased in triplets, that drag behind the beat and grate against the background harmony."

John was right : "Oh, darling" had to be sung by him..... It's definitely more his type/voice song! The Beatles are timeless! Every song, every album, every record is a masterpiece of its own kind. Just considering that in the Rolling Stone’s definitive list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, The Beatles ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ is in the first place, ‘Revolver’ in the third and ‘Rubber Soul’ in the 5th, ‘The White Album’ in the 10th and ‘Abbey Road’ in the 14th, makes The Beatles the greatest band on Earth! To prove this, for the first time ever, NASA beamed a song - The Beatles' "Across the Universe" - directly into deep space at 7 p.m. EST on Feb. 4, 2008. The transmission was aimed at the North Star, Polaris, which is located 431 light years away from Earth. The song traveled across the universe at a speed of 186,000 miles per second. This to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the song's recording, the 45th anniversary of the Deep Space Network, and the 50th anniversary of NASA. "Amazing! Well done, NASA!" Paul McCartney said in a message to the space agency. "Send my love to the aliens. All the best, Paul." !!! It is not the first time Beatles music has been used by NASA; in November 2005, McCartney performed the song "Good Day Sunshine" during a concert that was transmitted to the International Space Station. "Here Comes the Sun," "Ticket to Ride" and "A Hard Day's Night" are among other Beatles' songs that have been played to wake astronaut crews in orbit. This is an amazing fact : Beatles music to every living being across the Universe.....

@VileWeedHater The comment did not concern the validity of the Rolling Stone magazine nor its album list. Faced with the universal greatness of the Beatles, it has very little importance in which place the magazine put the album "Abbey Road". There is no other band with such a supremacy of statistical data in every sector of the musical business. Those who truly know how to appreciate The Beatles musical genius have for years made their own subjective favorite album list and in this sense, no comment is apply! What I wanted to underline is A FACT : The Beatles musical and artistic uniqueness!

He spent his final years on this planet solely trying to spread messages of peace and prosperity even if, as Julian Lennon argues, he went against that doctrine when he was younger and 2. He’s one of the best songwriters and musicians to ever live, only being matched by Paul in how prolific and powerful they are with their lyrics and music. It’s indisputable that he has one of the most lauded and most famous discographies ever, as well as how massive an impact on our planet’s culture its had, even if his character is questionable and morally dubious

I love all the Beatles' music but the medley is one of my all-time favorite pieces of music. If it comes on the radio I will sit in my car until the end (The End). But then, I do that with almost all of their songs so...

One other cool fact, initially the album sides were swapped. Think about it, starting the record with that warm and welcoming Here Comes the Sun, ushering us all in for what was to follow. And having the album end with the manic chaos at the end of I Want You (She's So Heavy) would have been an amazing way to finish up.

I'll tell you how much I love that album and specially the ending medley. When I purchased the original vinyl record when they released it I was so blown away that I played it over and over for hours. Then for weeks and then for months. Eventually getting a scratch on the record in the middle of the medley. "Golden slumbers" would just repeat the lyric over and over until I moved the needle. Then I found that by taping a nickel to the phonograph arm above the needle it would not repeat, but there was a small skip whenever it got to that point in the track. To this day, fifty years later, I still get surprised when that track doesn't skip when I listen on digital media. Sadly the old vinyl was lost long ago.

I had the honour to be present on a Beatles recording session at Trident studios in late 60's. For me this album is their musical autobiography encapsulated on vinyl....the fractures that created the genius. For me The End encapsulates it all....a 3 voice guitar rant over a solid beat where, for once, Ringo raises his voice. A settling of old scores, a clearing out of loose ends, but symbolic of the love and respect they had for each other and the journey they'd shared. In those days all performances ended with the national anthem....Her Majesty....The Queen. I don't believe for one second that they didn't collectively &/or individually know that this medley was going to be their final act of collaboration.

Abbey Road was definitely the finest work the beatles ever did to go from 4 boy's just out of there teen years less than ten years earlier they systematically along with George Martin and his team of sound engineers all improved there work from 1. Album to the next building and learning from each other until no one could explain this music that was reforming with ever new tapeing until all anyone in the business new was everyone wanted to be like them and when the light at the end of the tunnel came they went out with the best album of all time

God bless you sir. What a wonderful video . It's clear that we share a deep and abiding love for Beatles music and for Abbey Road in particular. And the way you closed out this video is a fine match for how the lads closed out this album- both made me teary-eyed. And btw I have loved the medley since the very first time I heard as a 10 year old in the bedroom of a teenager in 1970 1971. She also played me the entire Sweet Baby James album the same Saturday afternoon. What a mindblowing day for me .😊❤🎶🎶🎶🎵

As a lifelong musician side 2 of Abbey Road was and is my inspiration. I was a young teen when I was released. That album blew me away. When you compare the other music that was popular back then to any of the Beatle music, it was like music from the future. A few of my bands performed side 2, it was a crowd pleaser. We even did Her Majesty.
