It's an easy walk to different viewpoints from the top. Do note that the trail descending to the falls is no longer open. Still a must see if you're in the Eastern WA area for a good side trip.

Would you recommend running Palouse Falls?

No. According to WTA website, all trails into the canyon and base of Palouse falls are now permanently closed. However, the viewpoints on top remain open to see the falls.
